Southeast here. After 4 laps at Tsukuba I had moved from 500 something to 200. Went back later and put in some hard work, adjustements to exit strategy and landed myself 74th. Not bad for a DS3 using automatic! 5 mins later I was down to 78th. I think if I stay at it, get my wheel out of the garage, lower traction control (5 right now) and get used to the manual I will stick in the top 100. Round 2 and some prizes are in order...

I only saw a handful of people using the controller much less using auto, so that makes me feel good. I haven't even thought about Rome or Cape Ring. I hate Cape Ring. It took me about 2-3 years to memorize the Nurb. to the point where if I need to waste 7-8 minutes during my day I do a lap in my mind. I only know that Cape has at least two hairpins, and that giant 360 turn.

Just took another .5 off at the cape. I still feel like there is another .5-.7 out there. I'm maxed out at Rome and Tsukuba is my worst track.

I hit a pretty big wall this morning so I will probably take the rest of the day off from the TT and see where it starts shaking out.

Track Time Midwest USA
Tsukuba 1.05.577 3rd 15th
Rome 1.22.419 4th 15th
Cape 2.46.892 1st 1st
Total 5.14.899 1st 1st

Don't be afraid to ask for some help.

Midwest Region (PSN expressseven75) I'm using a controller, I only get to play for minutes at a time. Just here for the fun of it during the off season. Good luck to everyone and everyone who makes it to round 2.

It looks like this is going to be loads more competitive than the GT5 TT. The tsukuba event is great, the rome reverse annoys me and i'm indifferent towards cape ring. Good luck to all 👍

thanks jersey, man tsukuba is a PITA. its the toughest track for me by far. but yeah, looks like us forza guys arent doing too bad eh?! just goes to show that speed is speed no matter what game it is. just look at how Daveyskills took #1 on both Time Trials with the controller...almost effortlessly. he signs on, runs a couple laps, sets some WR's and goes, "well, im done...cya!"

Choate awesome lap on cape and also rome! i think your 121.8xx on rome was near flawless, right? how low do u think the cape times will go?

Rome, there is still about .4 there to be found. I didn't have a great exit out of the chicane and i get my but kicked at the hairpin.
The cape will get into the high 45's

Lol, yesterday, I was sooooo happy I was beating you until the braking point for the hairpin at the end of the back straight then I kinda mess up. In case you have not noticed you need to set up wider for the little kink before the straight and not hit the wall on exit... but you probably figured that out since your time has improved...:grumpy:

I can see it. If everything comes together and each corner is done perfectly, I could see that much time being found by the end.

Hey Congrats on your time! If you dont mind me asking what is your traction control setup and ABS on Tsakuba? And also do use handbrake to make cornering faster?

My best time on Tsakuna is 1.07.177. I have Traction set up on 9 and ABS on 6. I drive manualy...Im lossing time when exiting first corner and second corner. Some advice would be appreciated thanx. I'm using a G25 Racing wheel. I cannot configure buttons on it...so If I wanted to use handbrake I'd have to reach down and press the Triangle button thats located on my shifter.

Thanks man.
Traction control set to 0
Abs at 1
My fastest lap was with the steering asssit on mild. Was just screwing around with it and was a bit quicker there. Without it I was within .03 of my fast lap.
I am using a G27 so getting to the E-brake is a ***** so i don't use it. I did try it just to see if I could help get the front end pointed but I found there was no smooth way of doing it. If it ain't smooth you're losing time.

That 1st corner sucks. The trick to braking into that corner is to be at about 40-75% of full pedal travel. I found this to be a great way of keeping some of the weight on the back tires so you have some of the front grip available to turn. I like going in a little high and diamonding hairpins. I hope this make sense.

psn: ndiejns

region: west

well, by the looks of it, there's quite a lot of GTP members in the top 128 for the west, good luck everyone :D

EDIT: Is there a way to keep consistent? It might be a lack of energy or concentration, but every time I seem to do better than the previous lap, i take a turn and screw up and lose time for it and end up just restarting. I'm sure if I didn't make any mistakes and took the best from each run, i'd be at least a good second faster on Cape Ring. Is it a mental thing, is it something i just need to practice or am i just pushing the car too hard every once in a while?

The problem with me is that im a guy who follow my instinct and always against anyone who teaches me. the problem is i really want to listen and it just me in driving. because i always want to do it in my own way. And i know their is alot to learn and alot to do with my life right now, can anyone help me how to cope this psychologically.?

I don't know if you answered this already, but what kind of wheel/setup are you using? You got any tips those ranked below you in the west?

I use a Logitech Driving Force Pro with the bungie mod. All assists off except ABS 1. Bumper cam (cockpit screenshake makes me nauseous). I like to use headphones because I can hear my tires better. If they aren't chirping then I'm not driving hard enough!

The only tip I have is to keep practicing! I am not the most talented driver, I don't have the natural ability that these other freaks have. I get my speed by putting in the work.

Oh yeah, race ghosts. It really shows you where you are losing time. For example, I raced Choate's ghost on Cape and found out that he was half a second quicker than me in the first section. So I watched his replay and took note of his speed through corners and his accelerating and braking so I could see what he was doing that made him so much faster.
