Well said allent2. Rather than pm-ing people as I have done so far, it is probably easiest for people to post their issues in this thread, then I or anyone else can offer advice that everyone can benefit from.

One thing that I found useful when competing last time, was that it was possible to load the replays and ghosts of the other quickest guys. You will always learn so much by how they apply the brakes, throttle, choose their gearing. I hope this will be available to you guys too!

I personally found getting into a rhythm, setting lap after lap, was very beneficial to me. It was far less frustrating after a spin, to just write off that lap and continue driving, than to constantly restart after a mistake.

I didn't get quite as far as Alex but I did reach the national finals in Switzerland. I agree with the advice from Alex, don't keep restarting if you mess your lap up, otherwise you get to be awesome at the first part of the course and rubbish at the back-end.

Also, do sessions of 45 mins and take a break, I don't know why but I nearly always managed to beat my best time at the TT after a short break.

If you can, dowmload the fastest guys ghost and study it, you can gain time by doing that.

Turn your own ghost off, you will end up ruining most of your own laps. I used to flick my ghost on and off quickly on the straights to see how I compared.

I'll be joining in hopefully but obviously wont be entering. Would ne nice to join in some hotlapping online sessions for some practice. You never know, I might even be able to help some of you guys.

Add me if you wish I would be happy to help.

My whole goal for this thread is to push everyone in the forum from the USA through to the second round and having interested quality drivers giving pointers to all us dreamers is a great feeling. Thanks guys and keep checking in because we can't get enough help and possitive pointers. I'll include you Neenor as a "Driving Advisor" in the OP if that is ok :)

psn: swervedriver and I'm in southeast. Do not have all golds but I'm going to try my best.
Pumped to get this started, on holiday the next two weeks and a "honey do" list the size of war & peace. Got plenty to do while I take breaks. :)

psn: rpr101 and i am coming from the west coast. Palmdale, CA. cant wait to try this out. i know i wont win but i like the challenge.

Once again congratulations pippin on your awesome achievement and thanks for the advise and support in this thread

I'd be happy to help. My PSN ID is GTP_Neenor. Might be worth adding that to the front page as well.

After the TT starts I am going to have in the OP a complete selectable list of everyone’s GTP name and their PSN ID. If the track that GT5 picks for us to compete on will allow group participation, we can then hold driving clinics and our driving advisors can then ride along from the lobby with their Headsets working and give real time how too’s, if PD will open up their minds….. lol

I'm glad that you made this thread. I hope we all make it to second round and we all push each other to not give up and do our best and encourage each other

"Contest Race Round 1. Round 1 Time Trial Events begin Monday, December 20, 2010 12:00AM EST"

So in less than an hour.

BTW I'm a new member, this is my first post and I'm in the West region from Hawaii. Anybody from Hawaii here? :)

Firstly, this is an awesome thread with a really cool vision, I dig it. Secondly, WEST region represent! Looking forward to sharing and learning with this community of racing enthusiasts. There's nothing I'd love to see more than a majority of the national finalists be from GTP.. Here's to working together to make it happen!

regards,

sean

I'm in the northeast section under RJ02Sch09. Going to try my best with the DS3, hopefully will get a wheel for Christmas.

Your GTP name reminded me of a funny commercial

Great Googly Moogly

I'm in, but unable to race until I get back from my trip. Hopefully missing the first couple of weeks won't put me too far behind everyone else!

little lag time on the networks sometimes when i go into the seasonal events there is nothing present. When it does work, sometimes it wont let me in cause it says I need to register (which i have) other than that its working well im 47th in the north east region as of now.

psn Kool_Breeze_88_

wont be doing too much cause im still in college finals until tomorrow night

I'll be attempting to squeeze my way in... Competing in the northeast region.

So far only managed 5 or so laps on tskuba and logged 75th place... Im sure by the time i get back online i'll be nowhere near that.

oh this should be known though, im not that good of a driver, using a controller, and will probably lose my position as more people place their times. no worries though this is really fun:)

I just gave gt academy a go and I'm currently in 32nd place overall in my region (west) with using a DS3. It's pretty fun...:dopey:

is it top 128 in region or top 128 from all regions?
