Enormous congratulations to Steffen and GTRP_Gantenbein in Germany, congratulations on winning in such a competitive, respected and prestigious racing region as Germany :cheers:

Deepest comiserations to Bruno for missing out this time, there is no doubt who the fastest Portuguese driver is. Hopefully you'll shine next time Bruno and the luck will go your way. Take heart and inspiration from Zocker who missed out at Silverstone last year but has another chance this year. You will be back 👍

I also believe Dan Holland was lucky to win in such a competitive race and DEVIE or Joshmuggo could have won and would have been equally deserving.

Wasted talent there, apart from the skills he's got the perfect temperament, very aggressive but all under control. I'm surprised he didn't catch back up unless the guys in front of him slowed him down and stopped his progress back to the front.
 
What boggles me is that the judges were quick to restart races in the heats for behaviour that caused people to run off the track at the start of the day and then towards the end of the event you could clearly see they were rushed and behind schedule and didn't restart the races of most importance to us. Very disappointing and my comiserations to May, i know how bad it feels. I was very tempted to put in a formal complaint to sony but im sure it would mean nothing to them 👎

Meagainstyou was taken out at the first corner and then was unable to recover. It's very unfortunate because he was clearly the fastest driver there. Too bad the judges didn't restart the race 👎

Oh right did something else happen to you I thought you just lost the back end whilst following closely behind Dan out of 3 and broadsided giving Josh nowhere to go ?

I was taken out by Dan Holland in turn 2 of the semi final after leading the race from the start. Dan needed the win to even reach the final. If you read some of the earlier posts this was explained and discussed already 👍

Well that pretty much rubbishes the whole competition then. I think they should've raced annonymously, it almost cost Dan Holland and its cost Bruno. I'm wondering if you're that good you just end up being a target.

I don't mean that the other driver who hit him made it on purpose. Everybody tried to race clean. This guy just braked late and hit May in the side when he was already turning in.
The problem is that the judges should have restarted the race, this was in the 1st corner of the 1st lap for god's sake!

May won all his previous races but two where he was 2nd because of the exagerated draft :drool:

Stupid 🤬 judges!!! What a rip off Bruno! I wounder how much they want the fastest known drivers in Silverstone... Sorry about that bro :ouch:! I probably would go back a few years, turn in to a 15 year old and shouted one or two bad words if they didnt restart the race in that moment! In the 1st corner?? Come on!!

Well, im sure no one will stop you next year Bruno! All my suport to you mate:tup::)!

The fact that I didn't reach the final doesn't bother me that much anymore. It's apparent that Sony has no interest in running the contest in a professional and fair manner.

Yeah i would like to see these rip off's too!! You can't just single out DEVIE as being ripped off in the final.

In fact myself, Holland and DEVIE were all hit at some stage or another in that final race, the only one who wasn't hit (and did most of the contact) was tepez who was extremely lucky to make the final as you can guess from his driving in the final.

I agree with DEVIE in that i still for the life of me can't understand why all throughout the day, races were being restarted for any contact made and when it came to the final, nothing!!

if we were told at the start of the race that there would be no restarts, or even better, any contact forcing another player off the track would result in DSQ, then it would have been better to manage and to swallow.

at the end of the day though, yes i am very disappointed at what happened and that i wasn't lucky enough (which counts for more than most people give credit for) to progress through to Silverstone, however, Dan came out the other end victorious and well done to him for that.

this has made me even more committed and determined to make Silverstone next year.

To all the winners going to Silverstone, Congratulations, and to all the runner's up like myself who missed out, I will see you on the time trial boards next year.

Sounds like the competition is a PR Balls up. Commiserations to Bruno & everyone else who sounds like they were unfairly cheated

This judges... Oh my God!! Meagainstyou waas clearly going to win that, he went out of your city with fear that he couldn't win because he might not feel at home... But he would won... Then, he lost... OMG... Judges fault! :mad:

Just watched it, great racing, really close between Holland and Devie right up to the point where Devie was tapped and got really sideways, thanks for the video and good luck to all the finalists tomorrow!

There seems to be a bit of "interesting" driving missing between 7:09 and 7:11 (purposely edited out?)... From memory a bit of tank slapping and an off track excursion was involved, allowing Dan to break away from the rest.
 
hi guys.. thanks all for your words.. you all must know what i feel right now because i prepared myself so hard for this... everyone saw that i was (like some guys say around here.. but useless) the fastest, better and strong player there but i made 4th place in the final.. so im off on these competitions for good!!!! when you know that you do everything right to win and you lose by default there's no point to continue and experience again these bad feelings... :(

of course that i need to congratulate the winner Filipe (Hunter_4_6) that seamed such a great person and has no guilty at all on the final results. i hope he can represent well Portugal in Silverstone 👍 i wish him the best of luck there :cheers:

ill make a post later of all my progress in the finals and a little video for everyone to know what was all about! ;)

Hi all,

I dont post very often here but that tells something why I post now. From the moment I heared the GT Academy Finals are being held in a racing form (so no time trail at all) I had bad feelings about it. Its just too much what they want... New tracks, 2 cars we have driven only on Indy, 4 people together, hilarious slipstream. To get the fastest driver this isnt the right way...

The judges, well what can you blame them because they probably dont know **** about GT5 or what is supposed to be fair or not... Probably the organization put them just there for the cameras so it 'looks' like a professional prepared competition but in the end we are just a stage for a very smart way to advertise the PS3 and the 'myth' called GT5... And NOT to get the fastest driver

I guess the Portugese final proves that and I have all respects for the winners, whatever happened they are fast and keep their minds focussed on the racing. But that MAY hasnt won I mean that will be the biggest joke of this whole competition! The man was a second loose in the Time Trail and had a deserved top 25 place in the world (which I believe he could do even better) but he isnt with the 20 fastest drivers in Europe?

My goals for the final arent really serious because Silverstone is probably a no-go for me due a operation that has to be as soon as possible (probably end of February) and without it I cant even run without having pain. So my final will be just having fun although Im the big favorite there, seems like everything can happen...

My big congratulations to all the winners so far! And good luck at the even more 'big show' in Silverstone!

So sorry to hear what happened in your final. Being so far ahead of everyone is an advantage up to a point but maybe this is an example of when having some better drivers around you would have been preferable.

We're all going to be at the mercy of our fellow competitors and the judges and to be honest I will fear taking someone else out as much as being taken out myself. It must be so easy to do in these circumstances.

I doubt this will be the last shock but I'm sure that's of no comfort to you.

Don't be too down mate - you're one of the very best. 👍

Hello, I'm very happy with yesterday and I yes the final results should've come different but the rest of the day went very well and it was a great experience, I placed 2nd.

Portuguese final was 6 laps indy with 370Z tuned.

2 phase: (normal car)
1 lap nurburgring (by far the most exciting race I had)
3 laps daytona road
3 laps indy
