^haha. Well since C7 ends in 10 minutes and only one person is viewing the thread who is competing. I will go ahead and total up the points for C7. I have been getting a lot of messages and reply's on threads about pushing forward with Season 2. I didn't really think I would get a response this fast after posting.

I will look forward to Season 2, but I feel like maybe Season 1 was rushed. Maybe there should be a little more time to do Hot Lap sessions. I could be wrong, want your opinions!!!

Grats to Yavy92 for winning C7. C-8 will be on the Deep Forest Raceway / Forward. Good Luck!!

Great! 👍
Two races a week for me.

I know I whine, complain, and get slow times a lot, but aren't I meant to be on 10 points total at the moment, not 9?

I have suggested a different way of issuing points, that was a couple posts ago. If we are all sticking around for season 2, I would like to see some more variety in cars and tracks. Some off road tracks with rally cars would be fun, or even off road tracks with cars not suitable for that track would give everyone a challenge. Even slow cars have been shown in this season to provide a challenge to get a quick time, so maybe more slow cars? I had an idea of allowing a couple different cars per round, and the challengers pick one to do that round with. I am not sure how well that would work though. they are my ideas for now.

I double-checked and you certainly are supposed to have 10 points and be in a tie for 11th place on the overall leaderboard. I'm sure it was just a minor oversight, Cottees!

:)

I also like your idea of incorporating a few less contemporary cars (Honda S600 & Toyota Sports 800?) and even a rally course (maybe with an old school rally vehicle like the 1973 Alpine A110 1600S?). I'm a touch sad that I didn't find this site until the 2CV race was over!

Oh... I tried Deep Forest with the RUF and slid more than I do in the rally cars on the rally tracks! Ha! In fact, on my second lap, I pulled off a perfect 720 - unintended, of course - as I tried to make the left-hand curve after the tunnel. I almost decided to save the replay, but I figure it'll happen again sometime soon (maybe even multiple times).

Sorry about that Cottees, was playing Tekken 6 all last night and I miscounted your points. My apologies, as for more variety. I posted either yesterday or the day before about Season 2. There will be more race cars, in fact there will be 2 leagues to compete in. A sports car challenge and a race car challenge.

lol trust me Glubags, Genesis or Vavy will find a way to get 3 seconds faster then whoever posts their time first.

At least... and if not more!

That's pretty much why I am keeping my best current time very "close to the vest".

I don't want to end up with this look:

:irked:

wow 1:10 huh, your 15 seconds faster then me after 2 tries. That's nuts, going back to playing T6 online.

No, no, no... I'm only in the high 1:25's. I just know that someone (or some people) will get close to 1:10 - and then I'll break down in an exasperated heap on the floor.

:scared:

EDIT - Oops! I guess I spilled the 'lap time' beans!

If anyone gets close to 1:10 on this challenge, I think I'll cry.

lol

LOL, I hope you meant 1'20.

1'22.375 is my best after 10 laps. Wheelspin practically everywhere, and steering was accomplished more with the throttle than the d-pad, lol. This was my favorite track with the Yellowbird in GT4, so this isn't altogether unfamiliar territory... I look forward to chiseling away at this lap time.

Also, what's the rule in terms of the concrete inside portion of the chicane prior to the turn leading into the tunnel? I'm not cutting it, but doing so is definitely worth an extra second or so... So we definitely need a strict guideline for that.

I would assume no one would cheat and cut through. It's still possible to achievement 1'25 or lower without cutting through

LOL, I hope you meant 1'20.

No, I actually meant 1:10. I pulled out my old GT3 strategy guide and it said a good lap at Deep Forest was 1:10, but I guess that would be with a significantly tuned car.

I say that we need to keep at least two wheels on the rumble strip as the concrete pad is clearly not part of the intended racing surface.

high 1:27s here.
this car is very hard to drive!

I'd like to share a money-making tip.
I usually practice the car & track while racing the AI.
That way, I'm earning credits (how little it may be) while learning the race line & tuning of the car. Not to mention upping the AI to "S".
I only change to time trial when I'm ready to record my fast lap.
Believe it or not but I earned 1mil credits practicing C7.

yeah that car even with a tuned suspension still likes to oversteer like mad.

I'm glad it's just not me. The car feels ultra-loose and 'squirrely'. I find, especially after turn 1, that when I let go of the nub the car continues to turn hard to the left. I'm attempting to fine tune the springs/damper/camber to help with that problem... though I'm not really expecting to tame that beast.

I'm off to play a game of basketball, then do about 20 mintues of Deep Forest, and then a multi-hour session of Disgaea 2. If I'm still awake enough, I'll then try some more laps in the RUF (also known as the 'Teflon-On-The-Wheels-Mobile').

Good luck to everyone tonight!

1'20.092 right now, but I can go much, much faster... Low 1'19 at least... But my hands are too cramped to put it all together. Absolutely love this track/car combo.

you can quick tune any car, you might have filled up your favorites already.

Don't go overboard with steering input--you can often finish a turn from apex to exit with mostly throttle... 3rd and 4th gear are really all you need... and... the last turn can be taken much faster than you may expect because it's in a trough, and the car becomes compressed into the track mid-corner, giving you additional mechanical grip... so brake late and briefly, turn in hard, then hammer down the throttle and you may be surprised at how well it sticks. If you aren't hitting around 190 km/h at the crest of the hill (or around 225 km/h by the finish line), you took the last turn much slower than you could've... and the last turn is always very important, because taking it as fast as possible sets you up for the fastest possible start to your next hot lap.

^ haha so true. I hit 1'23 last night with staying in 4th in the last turn. But this car is so touchy, if you hold on to the brakes too long it creates some effect just like if you were holding down the e brake to drift. I hope to break into the 1'21's tonight

I actually had to go back to automatic transmission for this vehicle... I'm just not proficient enough with manual (yet - but I'm still working on it) to adequately control this RUF. I know I'm giving up speed, but I currently need the simplicity until I can really get all the speeds/lines dialed in. I was able to - finally - correct the severe oversteer, so that has helped quite a bit and my times showed marked improvement because of that.
