The roadster on S1's is twitchy and unstable untuned 2 min times. Tuned it heavily to stabilize and kill the over steer and got time down to 1'53.75 - a good start, once I get some corners nailed with no sliding should be able to drop it some more.

Next challenge sounds awesome.

I was able to record my 2'11.862 just now, so I should have it on youtube/ovh soon.

Splits:
T1: 37.612
T2: 1'09.520
T3: 1'37.047

How do you do that ?... It's like : "power on... oh this lap is faster... and faster... and faster again !!! Cool game !" me it's like "power on... off road... better and then off road... maybe this one !!!... Oh no ! But why ???... Try again, and again, and again"

Don't know how I did it, guess I said save instead of load, just goes to show that drinking and driving in any form just is'nt a good idea.:embarrassed:. Next challenge looks like its gonna be a good one!

easyblast - here is my setup for the Lancer at Tsukuba Circuit:

Ride height F/R: -18 / -17
Spring rate F/R: 9 / 9
Damper F/R: 5 / 5
Toe in, F/R: 0.00 / 0.00
Camber F/R: 1.7 / 1.2

Ah, I almost forgot. My settings were very symmetrical front to rear for the Lancer at Motegi:

Ride height F/R: -18 / -18
Spring rate F/R: 8 / 8
Damper F/R: 4 / 4
Toe in, F/R: 0.10 / 0.00
Camber F/R: 1.5 / 1.5

That's just like me: miss the breaking point on turn 1, swing wide (or too shallow), fall far behind my ghost... restart. Nail turn 1, break too late on turn 2, back tire rides into the grass, car spins-out... restart. Third time is a charm(!), up by a half-car length on my ghost, getting nervous as I approach the right-hand turn after the long straight, break too early, ghost starts to pass me, give the car full throttle in an attempt to maintain my lead, car slides while ghost whips by and disappointment settles over my like a dark rain cloud... restart.

I repeat the above scenario a few times and then something miraculous happens - I run one clean, fast lap. After that, I'm back to the repeated restarts, frustration, and cramping (and sweaty) hands.

First lap at Trial Mountain in the MX5 was 1'53.231 with some bad lines. I'm thinking we'll see 1'51s here.

Edit: I was way off with my 1'51 estimate. Currently at 1'49.382 with a good bit of room to go. Might be able to turn out a 1'48.7xx.

Edit: 1'48.533, still with a few mistakes. If I make it into the 1'47s I'll be satisfied.

I am going to try not to miss the deadline this time! :dopey:

After 15 minutes with the mazda I have make several times 1'49.xxx

I Think it's possible to reach 1'47.xxx.

Edit : 1'47.872 ..... could be better. I'll see tomorrow

I've got a 1'48.213 at the moment, and most laps I'm anywhere from .3xx to .5xx ahead at the first split, but end up losing time through the second sector due to traction issues. If I can tie everything together it should be between 1'47.6xx and 1'47.7xx. Loving this car and track combo.

I've got a couple of questions...

1st) Looking at this screenshot, is the car in or out?

snap031e.png

The track clearly shows all the black tire wear on the other side of the white line and the yellow stripes seem to indicate that you aren't supposed to go there... but I always see people driving there (myself included). There is another spot just like this. It is just before the long straight with the tree canopy (this screenshot is just after that straight).

2nd) On the last downhill straight before the finish line (just before the chicane that can make you catch big air if you cut it too close), there is a lot of tarmac between the white line and the concrete barrier on the right side. Conversely, after the chicane and just before the finish line on the left side, you also have a lot of tarmac between the white line and the concrete wall. Is this OK to ride into or not? Is it the tarmac that constitutes 'in' or is it the white line?

I've been using every inch of tarmac, including the yellow-striped areas and the outside edges next to the walls before and after the chicane just before the finish. I'd like to hear from niigaki on this one as well, but I'm pretty confident they're ok to use.

Thanks, Glu!

Now I can get back to running laps without (much) fear that my line isn't clean.

:)

psp88, need details for the first challenge please.
For the first 2 challenges I'll add Glubags, Bakemono, psp88, and niigaki -also need details please-.

Can't locate my save file for the first few races in S1. But if I remember correctly, Pro is the only physics I used.

2nd) On the last downhill straight before the finish line (just before the chicane that can make you catch big air if you cut it too close), ...

lol
I ran this track a few weeks ago (can't remember the car I used) & accidentally caught air. I said to myself, "oooh, that was fun... can I roll the car in the air"?
I gave up after a few tries. Can't do it.

I'd like to see a replay if anyone of you can roll the car in the air.
That'll be fun

Edit:
For those posting videos:
Would you mind if you guys record your videos in chase view?
It will be easier to learn the lines, turning, & braking points from that view.

Thanks!

Thanks a lot !

If I'am 1'48.810 after 10 laps -tuned though and might be lucky-, I guess you'll be at least in the 1'46.xxx

Ok for your physics ! Thx ! The chase view is the one when you are just behind the car ? the one I used in the last video ? Could you record yours too ?

@all: thanks for those who told what their tuning was ! I appreciate it !
I have to try again Trial Mountain before heading to work !

 I'am not alone !!! Espacially the cramping and sweaty hands  !!!

About 20 minutes ago I'd have said no way at all, but I just put almost everything together (was only hesitant on the throttle in 2 corners, everything else worked out pretty much exactly how I wanted it to) and while I guessed that it would end up around 1'47.6xx to 1'47.7xx, it actually came down to 1'47.141.

I think I've left at least 2 tenths out there, so I'll definitely be shooting for 1'46.xxx tomorrow. 👍

See ? Told you ! (and first I wrote 1'45.xxx...) I had a break so I went for a "CaptCalvin" -with all due respect- :sly: and I did 1'47.964 but with an "I believe I can fly" at the chicane :ouch: so went again for another lap : 1'48.060... then someone knocked at the door. I'll try again at lunch time !

It's in, I am more concerned about people taking shortcuts in the first 3 turns, as well as the last chicane.

Even though I found out in GT3 that you can't make the car flip on that last chicane, I am still - to this day - compelled to catch some air each time I come to the end of the course (provided that I am not going to catch my ghost).

As far as the time attack laps are concerned, I am really struggling with this one. RWD vehicles for me are hit or miss. In this challenge, I am pretty solidly in the 'miss' category. I'm only at 1'50.xxx or so currently. I just need to put in a bit more time on the track and find a better tuning setup for me.

New time today : 1'46.964

Very fun car and one of my favorite track !

Edit : 1'46.400
Now on 1'48.002, sooo close to '47 but just can't seem so keep it together tonight. Gonna try again tomorrow. This car track combo is really fun though, almost like they were made for each other. PiTch, your very, very fast.:nervous:

I just ran a 1'46.219 and the rear of my car SO lightly hit the outside wall after the chicane before the finish, didn't slow me down whatsoever but emitted one single red spark. That lap replaced the 1'46.358 I had before in that session, and I thought I was golden until I looked over the replay. :ouch:

Edit: My hands are killing me, and I'm struggling to break 1'46.6 now  It's the first sector... those first three corners are killing me. I must have developed a mental block because I can hardly keep up with my ghost through there now. Time for a break.

PiTch_ and Glubags, youguys are very very fast 👍 !
I tried half an hour before going to sleep, still in the 48.3xx and 47.8xx range for the great laps (8 at most)... Can't see the 1'46. for me ! But it's not over yet so... I'll try new tuning...

I am sure you'll find the right tunning and you will join us in the 1'47 ! Cause I do think pvr77 and psp88 are going to !

1'46.961 !!! I love that track !!! Glubags, PiTch_ I'll try my best to catch you guys !!!
