The Z4 has been very successful, I don't know why people think it hasn't been.

In terms of championships, I have the feeling it's not done much. I'll entirely retract that statement if it's inaccurate, but to me it felt like some kind of stopgap solution after the E92 M3 stopped racing.

2014 British GT drivers title - (with Ecurie Ecosse, also leading going in to today's decider for the 2015 title.

2014 United Sports Car GTD drivers title- Turner Motorsport

2011 Super GT GT300

That's all I can think of of right now, so looks like you're right. I guess it's because in my view it's always been competitive but it's not won as much as I thought it had.

That's about all I could think of. They're popular, and have no doubt been successful for BMW from a business point of view. The one that irks me is no win at the 'Ring 24 hours, Spa was good, but to get beaten by Audi and Mercedes for the last 3 years at the N24 makes me sad :( Hopefully the M6 GT3 can put that right.

Salih Yoluc topped off his stunning British GT season by writing off the VonRyan 650S on its first out lap in practice. I doubt he'll be back in the McLaren in 2016.

Congratulations to Beechdean for taking both British GT titles this year, and to Professional MotorSport World Expo Racing Optimum Motorsport for taking the Pro/Am GT4 title. TF also grabbed a nice 1-2 in the finale.

Surely they know what character limits are, right?

Why not just Optimum Motorsport?
Optimum Motorsport is technically the team name, it's just a title sponsor:

Munich (DE), 15th September 2015. BMW has set a course for the future in GT racing with the presentation of the newly developed BMW M6 GT3 at the 66th IAA Cars 2015 in Frankfurt am Main (DE). The racing version of the BMW M6 Coupe will be sent into action by numerous private teams from the 2016 season in a host of championships and renowned race events around the world as part of the BMW Sports Trophy.

BMW Motorsport has channelled its vast well of experience amassed since 2010 with the BMW M6 GT3’s successful predecessor, the BMW Z4 GT3, into the development of the new car. Indeed, the new GT3 racer boasts a raft of improvements, particularly in the areas of drivability and economy. One example is the use of a series-produced engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, which develops higher output and an increase in torque. Moreover, with its centrally-positioned driver’s seat and long wheelbase, the BMW M6 GT3 offers a driving feeling unparalleled on the racing scene. The net price of the car is 379,000 Euros.

The BMW M6 GT3 weighs less than 1,300 kilograms, and the transaxle drive concept, sequential six-speed racing gearbox and body aerodynamics optimised in the BMW wind tunnel also highlight the imminent arrival of a full-blooded racer from BMW Motorsport in 2016. The reliability, efficiency and ease of maintenance of the BMW M6 GT3 will likewise be tuned to master the demands of endurance racing, and its longer wheelbase promises to deliver significantly improved handling characteristics compared with the BMW Z4 GT3. As well as the car itself, BMW M6 GT3 customers will also benefit from the service laid on by BMW Motorsport support engineers and a trackside supply of parts.

In May 2015, ahead of the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife circuit in Germany, BMW Motorsport customers from around the world were treated to an exclusive first glimpse of the BMW M6 GT3 – not to mention a detailed presentation of the car by drivers and engineers – at a “closed room” event at the BMW M Testcenter Nürburg. The GT racing car was subsequently introduced to fans of “the most powerful letter in the world” at the traditional M Night event on the Friday before the classic endurance race in the “Green Hell”. Customer teams in North America were able to feast their eyes on the BMW M6 GT3 for the first time at the United SportsCar Championship (USCC) in Watkins Glen (US), where the racing car was given its first public appearance on the other side of the Atlantic in late June. The BMW M6 GT3 was then revealed to teams, drivers and fans at the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race in Belgium – the most important GT race in the world. And now, the car has appeared in BMW Motorsport racing livery for the first time at the IAA.

The BMW M6 GT3 has undergone an extensive programme of testing on a variety of circuits over the course of 2015. This has allowed the experienced BMW works drivers to amass many valuable kilometres at the wheel of the BMW M6 GT3 and to carry out important work on the baseline set-up of the new GT and endurance racing challenger. This new poster car for customer racing is now undergoing a final round of fine-tuning prior to its race debut in the coming year.

Not the tub'o lard this was as some people kept thinking it was gonna be. If anything, it looks even better then I was expecting.

I know it won't race like it but I like that livery.

I find it interesting just how many similarities there are between the AMG GT GT3 and BMW M6 GT3 and their Vision GT counterparts inside GT6.

Both VisionGT cars were clearly teasing the design language of these new GT3 cars. Very nice to see.

The series is looking at double and triple race weekends and is in talks with partners to bring in high speed satellite at the track, live internet streaming and live in-car HD cameras for fan selection and viewing on a pay-per-view membership basis, event by event. TV will not be part of the series plan due to network restrictions on live broadcasts, however a 2 hour narrated, season highlight year in review program is planned.

Not good news to me considering the crap I already deal with between Fox's Idiotic Program shuffling on their stupid App and the Annoying Geo-blocking of the live Blancpain Series events.

NISMO TV on youtube is how you can get around the geo-blocking by Blancpain Series. I've got no advice for overcoming the stupidity of FOX though.

The ISC called, they want their gimmicky selling points back.

In all seriousness, I don't see why another GT3 series is necessary. GT racing is getting tough because costs are spiraling up and up, and you have to be realistic in looking at how much longer it's going to survive as it is. ADAC and British GTs have seen GT3 numbers drop, and a lot of teams from both compete in Blancpain - a new US series wouldn't bring a massive amount to the table. Grids would be average, and the pay-per-view online exclusivity deal is just begging for trouble.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, GT3 cars, even though they are fantastic, they are in dire need of an overhaul of the rule book, they need to be slowed a little, and have a firmer grasp on what is/ isn't allowed, it honestly needs to be rectified now, or we risk losing another grand class,

It's beyond sustainable now. It passed that mark a long time ago. Numbers are starting to drop slightly, and it's just the natural cycle of any class... but the writing has been on the wall for a very long time. I just want to see people looking outside of GT3 so we can try and make the future of GT racing a bit healthier.
