I was always under the impression that the only white line rule was that the car exiting the pits had to stay within the white line to prevent them spearing across the track to block other cars.

Anyhow, both Rowe cars have now made their 5 minute mandatory stops.

Is that now 9 cars that have had to do 5 minute pitstops? What was the Rowe racing penalty for?

It's not a penalty, all cars have to make a mandatory 5 min 'technical' pitstop during the race. It kind of equalises things for some of the teams that might not be able to do stuff like brake changes as quickly. It has to be completed within the first 22 hours of the race. So, the Merc's will have to stop again for another 5 minutes!

edit: from Twitter..

The #99 @ROWE_RACING is the only car on the lead lap to have completed its mandatory five-minute technical stop. It's running P3. #Spa24h

Elaborate.

Basically (at least in my experience), YouTube streams tend to be more or less the lowest of low when it comes to its comments. While Twitch isn't necessarily completely devoid of jerks, there tends to be far more on youtube and the comments are just beyond unacceptable.

What are youtube comment sections known for? I'll give you a hint, it's not friendly banter.

I was talking about the commentary. ;)

So I leave to take care of real life, come back and all the McLarens and Jaguars are pretty much gone. Damnit, real life.

Also, for whatever reason, I'll usually cheer for the Audis at Le Mans or any other WEC race, but here, I really, really hope any of the R8s don't win. Can't really explain why.

Another drive-thru for Bentley #8 for driver stint infringement... It's not Le Mans, Leena, try to remember they can't do 3 hour stints.

Show me were it says the car exiting the pits has to stop and wait.
It shouldn't "stop and wait", but simply let incoming traffic pass, a short lift for half a second is enough. There's a blue flashing light, which means "attention, there are cars approaching", he ignored it with moving straight on the track, he should've looked and let them pass, that doesn't mean he should've stopped at all.
155.
During the free and qualifying practice
sessions and the warm-up, controls on the tyre markings may be carried out before the cars take to the track under the orders of the marshals, and there will be a green light and a red light at the pit lane exit. Cars may only leave their working area according to the procedure listed in article 136. Cars may only leave the pit lane when the green light is on at the start or restart of a session. Further, a blue flag or a blue flashing light will be shown at the pit lane exit to warn drivers leaving the pit lane if cars are approaching on the track.
190.
During the race, drivers leaving the pit lane will do so only when the light at the pit lane exit is green and under their own responsibility. A marshal with a blue flag, or a blue flashing light, will also warn the driver if cars are approaching on the track.
Get it now?

And standard blue flag rules it's down to the car behind to make sure it's safe to overtake and complete the overtake safely.

Bare in mind too the pit lane exit is a good 300 yards from where the cars join the track too

That's why the regulations clearly state that the driver exiting the pits does so under his own responsibility.
Also, there's another blue light at the top of hill, not far from the actual track, at least there was in the last couple of years.

But the regulations don't state as you posted that the car exiting must give way.

Therefore standard blue flag rules apply slow car must hold it's line the car behind must overtake safely, doesn't change the fact the Ferrari was also too far to the right and didnt give any car exiting the pits any space.

Why are you constantly ignoring the part I even pointed out above? The driver exiting is responsible, there's no room for interpretation here, at all. The car exiting the pit also cannot hold its line obviously, so standard rules are neglectable. I don't get this discussion, the Ferrari was driving straight and Estre pulled right into him, he steered onto the track, he steered in the direction of the Ferrari. I'm not saying anyone should be penalized for it (it obviously wasn't on purpose), but saying the Ferrari should've given room doesn't make any sense at all.

Yeah I got it and you are still wrong.

Show me where it states standard blue flag rules have to be ignored as that's not on the rules you posted.

And why shouldn't the Ferrari be cautious? What did he think was going to be coming out of that?
