GT Sport GR Supra Cup Returns for 2020

Gotta say I do like the stick in my old 4x4 pickup.
If I had the means I’d pickup a stick Mustang GT from a few years back over just about anything.
It’s the street, v8 all the way for a performance vehicle. I’ve never had one, and maybe will never be able to, but that’s what I’d get, either that or a vette.
Gotta have the stick too! Way more engaging!
I’m gonna try some laps in the SOOP RAW but not sure if I’m up to par to race just yet.
I gotta say that most Mustang's or Vette I would pick with automatic tranny. There is a lot of suspension job before the stick really comes into play in those cars. Otherwise I prefer manual in any car you are driving frisky. The Renault Mégane RS is making it work very well with the auto though. Automatic when going for groceries, paddles when having fun. Just hold in the gear down as you approach a corner and it adapts to the speed.

We don’t have Renault here, really don’t get too much of that type of car here at all. The other one I saw far as Hatch is the little hot Yaris Toyota is going to offer overseas. Our bmw are all detuned too...I did enjoy an older 3 series once that was in good shape and a 2002 both of those were fun cars..Not mine, but...
Here you can try a GTI but I’ve never driven one.
Tbh always been secondhand pickups for me. Lotta miles I’ve done on twisty two laners and dirt, it’s prolly why I like the dr2 game...Jealous tbh if you have that car...

I don't, I just tested it.
I drive a people mover, 9 seat Vivaro and a Skoda Octavia.
Not much fun.
Had a lot of fun cars when I was young, but now it's practically that trumps.

Qualified 8th, got a great start to 4th, got put back to 9th by a T1 bowling ball and a 1s penalty for... I think existing, didn't get a penalty for taking someone out at Dunlop (I moved right early to block the inside and spot my brake marker; he moved right in the braking zone around another car), passed a few cars to get back up to... I think 5th in the end.

Reasonable race, too many people not knowing how sport hard tyres work.

Edit: Apparently my SR fell from 99 to 80  Absolutely no idea how - two SR downs in the entire ten-lap race...

Have to agree with @Jamie9000000, that was a terrible dirty race from my perspective.
Didn't qualify too well P15, never mind I'm in it for the fun.
Start.. several blow it so have cars manouvering all over the straight, I manage to avoid everyone T1 people getting rammed all over, manage to survive by taking a wide line around the carnage, up to P8ish, then I get collected by someone else's crash P15 again. Cars ahead have penalties, so one person decides to attempt to put me into the pits after they have served their penalty, miss so then attempts to put me into pit wall, misses again, had them line up to send to oblivion at T1 but there would have been collateral damage.
Got caught up in other people's crashes again, had a 2 lap clean battle with a Swiss guy, finish P17. Everyone slagging each other off post race.
How mid B S can be so terrible at racing others is beyond me, none of them deserved to take DR off me
Nurburgring 24hr next, one of my favourites:cheers:

Started 4th, not sure how I survived the first corner dive bomb but some how made it out alive. Managed to pull out a gap was 5secs clear of the rest of the field at the end

I naively thought that just one race slot would make people more careful, how wrong I was and that could be my first and last attempt at Supra Cup right there. What a 🤬 show.

I made a mistake qualifying, should have given myself proper clean air and as such ended qualifying 14th a good 0.8s off what I'd been doing on my own. I didn't make a mistake into T1 though, had a good start, gained a couple of spots then got sandwiched, turned in on from which the slightest contact got me a 1s penalty, then as we're rounding the hairpin I get the other Brit in the race tap my back end, then again, then hit me again as he almost pushes me into a spin and he goes past, giving me another 1s penalty to go with the multiple places it cost me. This resulted in losing 6SR over the course of the race despite no more SR downs. Into the next corner and an Italian launches it from a mile back, I admit I shouldn't have turned in (but then if I didn't you can guarantee I was going to lose more places on the exit), I've watched the replay and there was no way he was making the corner. He eventually tries a move on the last corner of the first lap and we're side by side when another driver decides to force his way up the inside and power out of the corner, pushing me off the track. 20th place, dead last and about to serve a 2s penalty for doing nothing wrong. Almost quit the race there.

Having some clean air though for a couple of laps, the race became slightly more spread out. I caught back up to the Brit and we had a sort of battle, I overtook him, he went up the inside the following lap (I didn't expect him to and he was never fully alongside for a move, I should have defended the inside), on the exit of T1 we were side by side and on the approach to the next corner I realised I was edging him onto the dirt (still wasn't switched on after L1) so I backed out and let him have the corner. Taking him later in the lap as he went deep into the chicane.

From there it was just a case of gradually gain on the car in front and get past as quick as possible, I passed some, some others vacated the track long enough for me to have their position and eventually I came home 9th.

I'm annoyed. Annoyed with myself for not qualifying on my own but more annoyed that again I had the pace to be at the sharp end of that race and yet again getting bumped around by people who cannot drive without contacting other cars threw me to the back at the start

Nurburgring next isn't it? Dear God...

A 15s video of how it all went wrong, just keep an eye on the mirror for the yellow car into T1

Edit: Actually the more I think about it, the more the Nurburgring seems like a good idea!

Got under 1m56 in qualifying for P2.
Lights went out at the start and compared to those around me I got a perfect getaway;

I love my Mrs, but getting up from where she was, walking to the other side off the room to push her phone in front my eyes for some really important photo of an actress from 🤬 Wentworth 🤬
I'm gonna 🤬 that 🤬 up (On PGA later)
Finished 8th for best haul off points and DR for quite some time, could have been better though.
Car was nice to drive.

Each down arrow is -10 SR.

Just gave myself a bit of after race therapy of two laps of the N 24 hr in the Supra. It handles well enough around the Nordschliefe, quite a bit of oversteer to contend with, I'm a tad over 10 mins but with plenty to come. I think sub 9.45 is possible for me :)

Well here's my Supra race!

Not as chaos filled as I was expecting but it was still pretty tricky and getting used to the car still and the brakes are quite loose so that's gonna
take some practicing to hit the correct braking points but I certainly could have done better I think.

We had the RS Trophy+. One of the best manuals I ever drove(my neighbour now has a white one). I am keen to try the new RS though.

What a collossal waste of time and lost DR! I already knew the time slot (17:00 BST) means I will have to pause the game part-way through to answer the door (may try to make arangements to avoid that in future rounds), but it was all over for me by then anyway. By the time I paused for 45 seconds (at leased avoidig a DQ) I was already in second to last place and lost that before I resumed control.

I had fun last night in a practice race on an Aussie lobby and left them with the musing that my race wouldn't be clean like that, and how right I was!

Qualified P8 (Door 14) and was briefly three places up before Turn 1, but a German punted me into the huge run-off at T2 and i rejoined P17 of 19, dropping one more place as i regained speed! On Lap 5, I got one of the most ridiculous penalties yet. I took the corner as wide as I could to avoid contact (yes, I know the advice to go inside but I knew I was going to drift out) and I was hit in the side as I was taking the bend. 3 seconds to me and having to get back on track. P10 to P13. Tagged out by a fellow Brit on Lap 6 and 45 seconds on autodrive the following lap. Also, two 0.5s penalties for only just crossing the line on the outside of the the same point on track. One Spaniard should certainly spend more time on better driving than almost constantly flashing his lights. P18 finish for 18 points. Wonderful.

'Highlights' (7 minutes):

Lowlights, including my errors (90 seconds):

Think I'll be using the EMEA races as training for the North American ones, rather than trying to get anything more meaningful out of them, if this is how they are going to be.

EDIT: The end of the main video shows each car's tyre wear at the end. Big variation.

Perfect start into the new Supra Cup Season for me! :D
P2 in qualifying and then had some luck in the first corner where several cars were involved in a chain reaction crash.
Managed to stay in the lead with a flawless run after that even I had some pressure from behind all the time. 👍

295 Points and P7 in Europe for now!

@TeddyWestside
The lowlights video has convinced me that I shall enter this!
Looks chaotic and nuts, I need to test my sneaking suspicion that Fuji is a terrible design for online...
Cheers
Just the six places that people can and do try to launch it up the inside of you with no regard as to whether they'll actually be able to keep the thing on the road at the exit. Throw in a 400hp road car with road brakes and road tyres and you have a recipe that will make the careless cause carnage

Really enjoyed the GR Supra Cup Round 1, Always like Fiji, Manage to be consistent and It's always fun watching people spin out or go wide when they out brake themselves.

Qualifying I unfortunately got Blocked at the Chicane by the guy in last place who wouldn't concede the corner and Just simply have another crack on the next lap. Comprised a potential 1:54 as a result & As we started the 2nd Flyer Lap he also decide to nudge me wide compromising the next flyer so had to settle for 12th. Frustrating knowing how quick I felt in the car.

1st Corner was carnage of course. People spinning going too deep, Managed to regain 8 Places up to 4th, Podium was on the cards easily however when pitting I hit the wall on the right very hard without realising how it bends to the left as you loop back into the Pits.

Feeling quite positive about the season and I'm well excited for Nurburgring as I love the track and enjoy the overcrackle of the exhaust as you down shift. Music to my ears! :gtpflag:

1st and last Supra race I’ll ever do. Just a complete waste of time. Dirty drivers everywhere.

I mean you expect a bit of rub in these types of races. But dudes just throwing it up the inside on every corner and using your car as a brake. Or other dudes getting slightly touched then taking aim at your bumper for the remainder of the race in revenge. Ffs....

Im not proud to admit it, but I’d had enough and rage quit after punting a dude to the shadow realm in the last lap.

Enough is enough sometimes.

Totally agree, will do practice lap times but highly unlikely I will enter another Supra race. Standard of racing was truly shocking.

Well, apart from the N24, because Nordschliefe

My best lap time is 1.56.008, can't get consistency in my lap times though, T1 and T2 I'm happy with and brake point for the last section chicane sorted, rest of the track I'm not so good. Going for it and see what happens.
Anyone pit for tyres or do they last the race ok?
Depends on how well you look after the rears. If you are wheel spinning everywhere like me, I needed new tyres at the halfway point. Infact, I think most ppl in my race pitted for tyres. Fuel was not an issue.
Think I might try full TCS in an attempt to baby the rears rather than cooking them (which was just too much fun).
I avoided the T1 parade and got up to 11th from 19th but got punted before T2, hitting the outside wall, heading back across the track taking out a car I think and hitting the T2 wall. I spent so much time off track that I was almost disqualified apparently. Then the rear tyre thing :( I would have been forgiven if I pulled out but I finished, laughing the whole way!

Bit of irony in there huh. Aren’t you the hero then :gtpflag:

I probably would turn down the tire wear by x1, otherwise the amount of tire wear and fuel consumption is ideal for these races.

Felt amazing to actually race the Supras rather than driving around in 6th-8th gear all race.
