Therein lies the problem. Rallying is not about overtaking in the real world, it's about threading your car through a stage quicker than anyone else. Rallycross features on track overtaking but this isn't that either. So what exactly is this supposed to be? It's just the same old arcade style rallying we've had since GT2.
Except for the beacon of light that GT5's special events were...

That they did nothing with...

:guilty:

Wow, that video with the Mercedes Benz sounds amazing. I would like to see some changes made to the tire squeal but I can live with that!!

As far as the AI goes, I think we all need to remember that the vast majority of players who will play GT Sport are going to struggle with the tracks at the speed required to finish in first place. Not everyone is a GT Academy contender!!

Let me blow your mind - options. Options for everyone. Beginners to GT Academy contenders. PD already have them, they just need to make the fastest one much faster and more intelligent.

Actually, I have posted that more options would a be a good thing! It doesn't change the point I was trying to make though.

For the majority of people track games are hard enough already and I am simply reminding everyone sim-style games have a severe learning curve.

Man, that comment section is pessimistic. It's really disheartening to see the racing community have such disdain for GT.:indiff:
It's not like this disdain is there because they just feel like it. I don't know why some paint it that way. You have criticisms of a lacking game and you're randomly hating :odd:

...Seriously?
Still far from perfect. Wouldn't describe the new sounds as overly synthetic, however. In fact I think what they do best is remove the previously overly synthetic feel to the sound.

What still gives the audio a synthetic vibe for me is those godawful gear changes, which has always been a physics based issue (seriously, who the hell approved that design change for GT5??) and astonishingly is still present.

Cars still sound synthetic, I can't take that serious anymore.

Don't forget that this is not directly recorded. It's hard to fully judge how accurate the sound actually is, with such distortion and surrounding noises.

The next big step (from what we hear in this new video) is the tire noise.

The sound of the Bugatti is also different and more pronnounced than in previous builds, if I'm not mistaken.

There's a direct feed capture of the AMG GT on the front page and it's just as sterile.

After seeing the video on the news page containing the AMG GT and the new sounds, I must say it doesn't sound accurate to an AMG GT IRL, but damn it sounds so good for a game like GT. I hope we see more of these sounds soon!

Doesn't change my point either, there needs to be higher levels of AI for those who require it. We've seen people breezing by the current 'Pro' AI with ease at these game shows and clearly most of them aren't the best drivers.

Can I just say, after watching one of the latest videos that featured the Merc AMG GT S, The sound of the engines is definitely more profound. Still has that vacuum noise, which they need to get rid of badly, but it's a lot better :) As for the AI, while the white Charger in 2nd place was truly a spectacle, I had a heavy dose of GT PSP nostalgia because it looked like it was rubberbanding very heavily. I don't know if that race had stock tires and settings for all cars, but if it did, I find it hard to believe that a Charger can corner as fast as an AMG GT S like that (I'll be damned if it can) :dunce:

It's the same behaviour as GT6 with the rubberbanding. It drives slowly when you're behind and then magically starts going much faster when you're ahead. I've always suspected when that happens the AI car is cheating on physics because you can't see it. Then as soon as it gets back in front of you, it starts going slow again.

It was easy to test on the special events 1v1 at the ring. If you sat behind the AI car the whole lap it was over a minute slower than if you overtook it and drove as fast as you could.

I haven't been playing GT6 for a long time so I can't share any experience lately, let alone the Special Events. What I do fondly remember is that GT PSP has the WORST case of rubberbanding. I was using a Lancer Evo VI in Costa di Amalfi and was set up against that Chevy concept truck (I think it was the Silverado SST), and the truck was tailing me through the corners  I haven't experienced anything like that in GT6 so that's why I was comparing my experience with GT PSP with that on the Charger in the video.

However, the huge difference I see in that video is that the Charger actually tries to overtake the player driving the AMG GT S, rather than the expected outcome of a zombie AI that just hits you from behind.

It's been years since I played the PSP game but there is definitely rubberbanding in GT6, it's been proven in numerous tests, and unfortunately it seems to have carried over to GTS so far.

Why is it a problem? I think it would be a bit restrictive if it were limited to say narrow off-road tracks where only time-trials were possible.

Why is it a problem that PDs idea of rallying bears no resemblance to any real life form of rallying? Irrespective of whether you enjoy it or not what you described is what real rallying is. The only circuit based rallying in reality is Rallycross but they are short, technical tracks, not Fisherman's Ranch length.

Yes, they need to decide is it RX or rally, because now its just nothing right. RX would be the least work as the track looks now.
