Are PD fixing this so that the file size is correct or are they just allowing 24gb to be normal?

I think my dsl dropped out so the download stopped so it could likely take 24hrs....

I actually like this move (although it's admittedly easy for me to say with a strong connection). Ever since the last update I have been experiencing an increasing number of game crashes, even two during FIA races...maybe reinstalling such a large portion of the game will fix my woes

this is why i am mad we need a fix and fast there is some many videos out there that people get penalties for nothing
I don't know... I think the penalties got much more balanced now, I can speak only for myself, indeed got huge drops in SR after the previous major "adjustment" of the penalty system but in the recent weeks I am slowly up again in SR rating.
It was polished quite a bit, so it's nothing that I would say needs an urgent fix
Let's get rid of any virtual cars from daily races first. I hate to race against any GT which doesnt exist IRL

Its not PD's problem to fix! its a Sony Issue!!

About an hour ago, 10pm Darwin time, had a look at GTS, had no idea about how big it was going to be and I am advised they are Downloading the update file Version 1.16 and there is 23 hours left.

Wet season up here, lightning every day and cords often have to be pulled out of sockets to save electrical appliances.
Couple of weeks ago we had a cyclone (Marcus) which took out power from 30,000 homes, mine for a few days. About a week later we had an earthquake, 6.6 magnitude, which moved the large tree which came down on my roof during the cyclone (and is still there) about a foot. Much of it is resting on my power line which I'm sure won't be able to hold it forever.

Anyway hopefully there won't be any interruptions with power in the next 23 or so hours.

if you give me the money for having also such a fast connection, then YES, i agree - what's the problem! ;)

24.90€ per month for every home. I also know this is not possible everywhere in the world so I can feel your frustrations:scared:

From what I am reading, the update has a reasonable size now. I hooked up my PS4 to a LAN cable and managed to download and install the whole hot mess in around 55 minutes.

Breaking news; upcoming patch 1.16 will not include anymore content. Just a re-upload of all previous patches with minor fixes included. So don't get everyone excited.

Breaking News: You're about 7 hours too late. We'd already figured this out 60 minutes after the update was released. I was one that started this thread and I, thanks to my fast internet connection downloading 24gb in about 25-30 minutes, appeared to be the first one (on here at least) that had it up and running (offline mode before the servers came back online). Even in offline mode it was clear there was no new content.

Although it appears I owe PD an apology (not that they'll ever see this); it wasn't a messy patched codebase that I suspected to necessitate a full reinstall of all the updates but a bug in Sony's update network/servers. So, umm, sorry PD.

I’m still trying to make sense of the verbal diarrhea in this thread. If this update is a re-installation of all prior updates, does that mean I won’t lose 24GB on my PS4’s hard drive, or is this update replacing the old files and it won’t take up any extra space?

By the way, Blizzard released a huge update file for Overwatch several weeks ago. As far as I remember, it didn’t contain new content and had something to do with making future updates smaller in size. Perhaps this is a similar case with PD.
