Breaking News: You're about 7 hours too late. We'd already figured this out 60 minutes after the update was released. I was one that started this thread and I, thanks to my fast internet connection downloading 24gb in about 25-30 minutes, appeared to be the first one (on here at least) that had it up and running (offline mode before the servers came back online). Even in offline mode it was clear there was no new content.

Although it appears I owe PD an apology (not that they'll ever see this); it wasn't a messy patched codebase that I suspected to necessitate a full reinstall of all the updates but a bug in Sony's update network/servers. So, umm, sorry PD.
Good thing you apologised you may have been banned from sport mode for that!!

24.90€ per month for every home. I also know this is not possible everywhere in the world so I can feel your frustrations:scared:

$50 a month for 10 mega ADSL in Patagonia. And that's the best plan I can get. No fibre optic yet. On top of that we got rid of DirecTV and stream everything. So imagine the bottlenecks in my network. I would gladly pay double to have 25 mega VDSL but that's not even an option.

I’m still trying to make sense of the verbal diarrhea in this thread. If this update is a re-installation of all prior updates, does that mean I won’t lose 24GB on my PS4’s hard drive, or is this update replacing the old files and it won’t take up any extra space?

By the way, Blizzard released a huge update file for Overwatch several weeks ago. As far as I remember, it didn’t contain new content and had something to do with making future updates smaller in size. Perhaps this is a similar case with PD.
Basically a glitch in Sony's servers was forcing redownload and install of all previous patches. This appeara to be fixed now, and you should only have a 100MB patch to deal with.

Except for a few regions like scandinavia singapore japan best korea, the rest of the western world is driven by incompetant govt. and comms companies to prodive you internet from last century

Look at the cases of the US Can and Australia as a cautionary tale

Be that as it may, does Sony not have QA? how did this pass even a cursory beta?

Updated my original post:

[this bit snipped here but still in original post]

- UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE -

15:33 04/04/2018:

The huge size of the update appears to have been a glitch in Sony's update network/servers - pushing out all previous updates as well as 1.16 - and not, as I initially suspected, due to PD re-issuing all updates due to a messy patched codebase.

The glitch in the update network has now been fixed and the incremental 1.16 update, which people appear to be getting now, is available and around 107mb.

Great news for those on slow internet connections!

This also happened to me when I went to download the 1.14 update:

For some reason the update was originally over 21GB for me, but I stopped it and tried again - and it was only 139MB the second time around. It sounds like a recurring issue - at least for some people anyway!

My 24GB of space on my hard drive back lol?
Since it was replacing updates that you would have already downloaded, you shouldn't have lost any space...

...People have no right to ask for anything yet a lot are screaming about tracks and options and all.

...Great compliment to PD for creating such a beauty even though some people are of course not happy by the lack of their wished content.

Ahhem...Does nobody remember when a game came out it was actually finished, clean, and ready to roll??? This type of unfinished BS with DLC is going to kill the industry. Or at least my willingness to shell out cash for unfinished junk. I really don't understand how the consumer puts up with it. I for one am disappointed in the lack of tracks. I feel like after buying the previous seven versions of this game we could at least have 50 tracks.

Damn Sony... if you want to do April Fools joke it shouldn't be like this... :banghead: You make most of us here almost getting a heart attack... :scared:

Yh... well, downloaded 21 gigs of data, which includes 100mb of patches and this red knob on my g29 does still not working while im drive. Respect. 10/10 points to waste time and bandwith...

The red knob of your g29 must be broken, because in my g29 it works perfectly

I downloaded and I was disappointed, I thought it would come with more content, features and graphics improvements like better anti aliasing in cars !!! GT Sport has excellent gameplay and beautiful graphics, but it needs to improve the anti-aliasing effect, as it is still to see jagged in the cars, especially white and yelow solid color, choose for example the white Golf VII GTI 14, and you will see ! So I hope in the next updates, Polyphony Digital better anti aliasing effect on cars!need to put a qualifying training option for arcade and championship mode, and also need races with rain!
