To be honest it sounded quite ok, but it still felt flat as if the crank/fly wheel is like from a lorry or something, the engine is not dynamic, it does not go up and down as the real car but it is static like it was some kind of electric motor with a monotone tone, it is not that engaging at all and sound too flat.
Pc on the other hand sounds more engaging but it on the other hand sounds a bit mixed(reverb) and such just like AC, but it does not sound as flat.
It is not about the growl, whine or aything(I call it textures for now) like that but the static and flat tone, watch the Forza 7 video when the guy drives the Porsche gt2 rs, that sound felt very engaging, especially when the sound matched the hysteric rpm needle, wow, that was very lively.

I really cant explain better then this, feels like I am talking about same thing over and over again without successfully explain what I mean.
I don't have an issue with that description if that is your perspective.
We all have our own ears and preferences.
For me, to use general language, GTS sound under-cooked while PC2 sounds over-cooked.
I simply haven't heard enough of FM7 to make a comment.

My issue is people suggesting that the difference is so large that one sounds like a race car and the other sounds like a vacuum cleaner.
Personally I wouldn't even call that an exaggeration, I would simply call that wrong.

Here's a clip from MotoGamesTV yesterday.

I understand where the original vacuum cleaner comparison came from, and it's a fair call.
But to my ears, that's no longer the case.
PC2 sounds angrier, but so far as engine sounds are concerned, there's not much in it.

The difference doesn't equate to one sounding like a good representation of a GT3 car, and the other a vacuum cleaner.

Maybe some should visit the PC2 board and suggest the cars sound like angry vacuum cleaners.
See how that goes.

I give the nod to PCars 2 just for the fact I can hear the actual engine going like Greek's video.

GT Sport sounds absolutely mundane; all I hear is transmission whine, gear changes, tires, and wind noise with the engine in the background. Might as well be hybrid that has the A/C system kicked on. That's my issue if GT Sport. There's zero ferocity in the cars.

I also give the nod to PC2.
I prefer the excitement it brings. 👍

I prefer the sound of PCARS2 as well over the sound of GT Sport but GT Sport has definitely improved on the sound. They have made pretty big steps over GT6 and that is great but they aren't there just yet. If I listen to the carsounds in PCARS, AC, Driveclub and Dirt, PD has some work todo even if the ones I mentioned aren't perfect. I think the carsounds of the Dirt series impress me the most but I also can imagine they can direct more resources towards the sound system because it only concerns one car on track and not 20 cars.

This is single-handedly the fairest analysis I've ever read. You can't say that NOTHING has changed, that's just pure ignorance IMO. Take that as you will, people. GT Sport is not the greatest racing game ever, but it's sure as the heck the best GT in terms of graphical quality, physics and sounds. (Notice how I didn't say content or features?)

Truly the fact that someone still says they look vacuum cleaner, has no right to write or argue in that sense because it's just ridiculous and trolling.

I do apologize for appearing like a troll about my vacuum cleaner comment. I do not spend much time here in the GT forum as I do not own a Playstation. I was was just commenting how I saw it (without understanding how many others have already made comments about the sound). It was not intended to upset anybody.

I just remember how bad the Ford Supercar sound was in Pcars and it was people complaining that brought about a quick fix. My hope is that all car games (including GT) have the best possible sound.

I want to test forza .
I don t want to buy an Xbox.
I have a PS4 already and exclusively for GT.
I intend to buy a PC.
I want to play also assetto corsa on PC and check the VR in good conditions in around 2 years when prices will be low.

I think you will be okay with a PC.

If you don't mind running Windows 10 then Forza Apex is a cut down version of FM6 that you can try out for free. I'm pretty sure that when FM7 comes out Microsoft will offer a demo of that game as well.

I sold my XOne last year in order to buy a good GFX card and play Windows 10 games (including XOne games). For us, simmers, is the best choice IMO. Playing AC, PCars, Dirt Rally, and now Forza 7, using a budget wheel like G29.

The Forza 7 might also have a demo but the full game will be released on pc as well.

:) "Meh", this pCARS 2 is on monster PC, so even with accounting for demands of VR it still destroys PS4pro power wise. But you have the right idea 👍 and soon, i guess we will be flooded with amazing CONSOLE gameplays (both)?

Oh, I can't wait, just can't

:D

@queleuleu @PhaedrusSocrate

Yeah, I been itching for some comparison footage :D

Although it's a monster PC, and running VR, I think it's a good preliminary of whats to come. BTW, really hoping to get more FM7 footage - tired of seeing the same ol' dubai and nurb gp footage.

But that pCARS 2 night atmosphere is just dry, lifeless... Ofc, feel of racing is great, I'm just saying that the rest is underwelming - after the day I saw this GTS replay! :)

And, if I understood correctly, this is not even "cinematic" replay - it has no added effects like blur etc.?

This is a VR gameplay, thus everything looks worse. I think both will look gorgeous, just a matter of taste.

lifeless? How about GTS? Do you think that lifeless too?

I did say that one's night atmosphere seems quite "dry/lifeless" when compared to other ones.
Sure, both are more lively at day etc. and so on... :)

Sure, if you compare it to a track like Tokyo Expressway. However, for these long drawn out tracks, like Nurburgring for example, they tend to look lifeless. That's what the dark of night looks like, and GTS isn't free of that either.

Something else to bear in mind with PC 2. Depending on what mode you are playing the amount of activity around the tracks changes. So for a testing day there are no fans and then the number of people trackside increases depending on the event.

I'm sure we can all choose photos to show GTS or PC2 looking lifeless or full of life. It was a pretty poor initial comparison.

Here is a video from an old build showing Le Mans at night. A bit of dynamic TOD and weather thrown in for good measure.

I agree that we could find 'dull' shots of both all day long, but the initial comparison lets us see how each game handles night conditions when there is no ambient/track lighting around (true darkness).

I think we've gotten so used to flaming arguements, that we can forget to just enjoy two games side by side. Besides, I'd rather PC2 videos show up here instead of any other GTS thread 👍

Sorry, I was talking about PhadreusSocrate's interpretation of the comparison.

Well we're in a thread specifically set up to discuss games side by side. :P

Sure thing - just glad to see a revival of the GTS v. thread. Hopefully we can get a good run going with it getting too heated :scared:

I don't have any intention to get PC2, but the night racing looks great. Loving those gear shift sounds.

It's bound to happen, especially with all the new info coming around, and with these games coming out in 2 months(give or take.)
