You guys don't forget that DriveClub received a (best in games) weather update after it was released. I don't see why some of you are so skeptical.

Because Driveclub was a launch title. I think that 4 years to implement rain in a racing games should be enough. If we don't see rain at the TGS event tomorrow... Three weeks to release, gold stage?

sorry, I don't see your point... they obviously spent 4 years doing something else so it's not ready yet... still, it can be implemented via an update anytime they want, but we've read at multiple websites that weather will be ready at launch anyway

Well, when you're in the passenger seat of one of the top 100 drivers in a racing game, it must give you shivers just thinking about it! Right? It would be awesome to be in the passenger seat all throughout a qualifying session. That would be gnarly.

I'm waiting for them to make those cameras that sit on the top of the airbox of F1 cars high res, 360° and controllable by the viewer. I guess stereoscopic for VR too would be cool. It'd be like straddling an F1 car doing a hotlap.

Because it's Polyphony, and they're notorious for touting features that are either then dropped, heavily modified, or come out in a form that really requires an asterisk and a couple of pages of fine print to go along with it.

I mean, two years for a course maker that requires additional hardware that was apparently right on the cusp of making it into the gold version or as a day one patch? Negro, please. For all we know, this time weather is the thing that takes ages and arrives in a way that's totally unexpected. I'd put my money on it being available on only a couple of tracks, despite their track list not exactly being extensive in the first place.

Regarding weather, the only precedent that we have is the rain/snow trailer from GT5, which came out like 4 weeks before the game.

What we have noticed with the past 2-3 months is that PD is painstakingly releasing tiny little details at a time with this extended marketing campaign. It wouldn't surprise me if we saw something maybe 1-2 weeks out - as many others have pointed out, the race-sim release climate is fierce in Q4 2017, so PD has to spread information out to keep GTS on people's minds.

Also, as a few others have mentioned though, I do have a feeling that there is some caveat to the weather ---- we'll see soon enough though.

^Wow, thats a pretty cool looking track with all those wavy painted lines.

I wonder whats making that sound to happen since its not the usual gurgle

Lol wut! Autocorrect is a bitch.

EDIT: Or am I wrong there lol?

I posted this on the PC2 sub-section but I'll leave it here:
Daytona Rallycross + Civic GRC (or any other) = pure joy

I'm amazed at how good SMS has made this Rallycross. A bunch of cars, a bunch of tracks and you can have more fun than in every rally track and stage Gran Turismo has ever had. Just wow.

I was never a fan of rally games (CMR, WRC, Dirt, etc) because I don't like the system - stages from point A to point B - but Rallycross is on right on my alley! Short, demanding, fun circuits with as many laps as you want and with the dynamic weather and time of day, this alone justifies the money for pC2.

Civic Coupé GRC - Had a blast with this!

Video - not Daytona, but it serves the purpose of showing how cool it is:

Having seen PC2 in person (maxed settings on a PC), I'm pretty dissappointed in it's graphics, it looks last gen. The trailer and pics make it look better than it actually looks. Plus it doesn't sound that good, some cars are truly annoying - over use of distortion, and no wind, road noise, and tyre squeals sound strange, and the cars bounce around in a weird way.
Physics feel strangely floaty, but better than the first game. On grass it feels like your in a hover car.

Forza 7 definitely looks better

PC2 replays are no where near as good as GT Sports that's for sure. Pretty much wouldn't bother watching them unlike GT games.

PC2 shines on the PC, not so much on consoles. SMS did compromise on the visual department in order to keep the performance (60 fps), dynamic weather / time and up to 32 cars on track. GT looks great but doesn't have nowhere near the same amount of things being simulated dynamically and rendered at the same time on track. Each of them has its pros and cons.

I don't like what I see on pC2 sometimes (standard PS4) but I can't expect magic to happen. GTS scraped dynamic time and weather because it was too demanding - PD already has the best car models around and those also have to be rendered in real time.

Having said that, I still wait to see some patches to fix some of the graphical issues we see on this day one version of the game. Let's see.

No. Under conditions you are boasting Digital Foundry finds that consoles drop resolution to 840p and in 30fps (Xbox) or in 40fps (PS4)... And with poorer quality of cars and detail in general then GTS or Forza.

Even beta of GTS had much more detailed textures, cars, fixed 1080p and fps in 50-60 (in beta).
They will have rain, but NOT before they optimize it to be on that same amazing level GTSport aims, that pCARS 2 can't achieve. But it still looks very nice and is a lot of fun.

But I've seen quite a few comments on how single player in pCARS 2 is:
"Just broken because of inconsistent AI difficulty - it's "nice" only for single races (that GTSport also has) but that its inconsistency RUINS completely immersion into championships, and turns them into just line of races stringed together without real feel."

Can't agree that it looks last gen and I certainly don't agree with you on the sounds.

The physics aren't floaty at all on or off grass.

Indeed it does, however they are targeting two different things.

Each to their own, I can watch AC, PC and SLRE replays quite happily, but I guess we are looking for different things in the replays.

Compare apples to apples, under the same conditions GTS has been shown at, PC2 is as near as damn it 60fps. Something the GTS beta struggled to do on some tracks without weather on dynamic TOD.

Even beta of GTS had much more detailed textures, cars, fixed 1080p and fps in 50-60 (in beta).
And it doesn't have dynamic weather or dynamic time of day. Different design choices, as such attempting to suggest it's a like for like comparison is simply missleading.

Will it have rain? We hope it will have rain, and should it have it, then I'm sure it will look better than it does in PC2.

Will it however be dynamic and will it have the same effect on the track and the physics as live track 3 does?

I would disagree, the ai may be inconsistent to a degree, but I've found in the four series I've raced so far that it's been fine within the series.

Personally I'm happy that I will get to experience both titles (and many more), fully aware that they target different things.

GTS is going to look stunning and I hope it adds to the list of online titles I enjoy, but I'm under no illusions that it's physics will come close to AC or PC, nor that it will have the factors brought by live track 3.

The Neogaf PCars 2 thread is an unending list of bug reports on everything from controller issues, UI, set-up quirks, AI etc. Graphics are rarely mentioned - all today's titles look decent - it's fundamental issues affecting gameplay. In a sim which encourages deep customisation, losing all your settings, seeing AI gain 5 seconds in qualifying when you quit out, of pile ups on the first lap, are the frustrations everyone had with PCars 2.

It's why, despite all PCars 1's content, I ended up limiting myself to a handful car's, track's and modes I knew worked.
