mario kart sport?

Yep, that's with the new "Friction Assist" turned on, which is like SRF on steroids. It's thoroughly ridiculous.

But, turning on Friction Assist automatically dirties lap times (so clean leaderboard times will be unaffected), and is unavailable for any online racing outside of dedicated beginner lobbies.

Why not mention that? I wonder...

I can't understand why the developers doing this with Forza Motorsport's licence..
"Friction assist" don't have a place in a racing simulation.
Forza Horizon isn't already there for this ?

Might be for learning purposes, but yeah .... this is a bit much

Good point. If you're using this, might as well stick to horizon really  .

Oh, I don't doubt Friction Assist will arrive in FH4 next year.

I can see why FA was added, the same way I can with SRF. I don't like either, though; it's making the game more approachable by allowing players to bypass having to actually learn anything about car control. A good suite of driving aids in a game will encourage players to get better with the core physics engine, not overlook it.

Both SRF and FA do nothing to teach players about what to expect when playing against others (or indeed, what driving a car is even like). They're there to open up game completion to a larger percentage of the player base.

there is nothing like this in GTS, even when all the aid are activated....

So?

GT6 actually forced SRF for some seasonal events. Being required to use these physics-simplifying aids to remain competitive seems at least as bad IMO.

Could it be possible that he wasn't aware that friction assist was turned on? If I came across this video on YT, I'd raise an eyebrow at it (there was no indication in the video that the assist was used). I didn't even know that they had made a SRF-like assist.

The video itself is pure clickbait and given its title deliberately to give a negative impression of Forza.

Simply reposting it with the kind of comment made demonstrates little interest in using the video as anything other than an attempt to portray Forza in a negative light. I say this as someone with no dog in the Forza debate.

Now if it had been posted with a question as to what is going on and why its behaving in that way I would see this in quite a different light.

I didn't know about the existence of this "friction assist" at all.... but now that I know it I can say that this assist is a bad idea

Since when making a game more accessible to more player a bad thing ? I don't get purist sometimes. There is some people who are not interested in the stuff sim racers like. This option will be only available offline and in beginner lobby. There is nothing wrong with that. You use it if you want too. end of the story. This is a none issue.

Possibly, but then one would have thought he may have clarified what was going on before rushing off to post it in the comparison thread. It was posted for one reason only ;)

I’m sure if you try really hard you could probably find a video which shows how the car reacts off road when this assist is off.

After playing Pcars 2 all weekend, I did a few races in GT6. I could bounce off cars, barrier, drive off the grass, with very little penalty. That with 0 assist enabled. I think we have to come to the conclusion that once what we deemed as "simulator" is no longer it. GT and Forza are definitely more arcade than Iracing, Pcasrs 2 and Assetto Corsa.

That' being said I haven't played GT Sport beta. Maybe they change there whole physics driving mechanics but it doesn't seem to appear so by the video I saw online. I could be completely wrong. I am hoping to be wrong.
