GT Sport's Daily Races Actually Are Daily Now

This is a really good point. The top 10 is pointless now. No more fame for those that race for precision. If you happen to get it (I would never, I suck) it is gone and reset withing hours now. With the weekly, I was checking it each day trying to compare myself to the times. Each night I would try to think of ways I could do better the next day. It was really fun and drove me back to the game. Also, me and my friends were having a blast trying to top each others times. Now that all has to be manual.

I really hope they put Gr4 and Gr.3 back to weekly and let us modify and tweak our cars. That kept me in game. This "new and fresh" each day is very short sighted. More geared to the FPS players that need map rotation and complain when they see the same map in the same hour. I don't know about others but my SR has taken a huge hit. Much from other players but admittedly some because I do not know the track as well.

I didn't manage to play last night but the feedback so far doesn't seem great. The top 10 is meaningless now because you don't get a sense of racing against proven fast drivers and trying to chase a top lap time. I really do hope that they can compromise and have both daily changes and longer lasting races. At the moment I'm not really sure why it has to be one or the other, but there must be a reason otherwise PD could trial daily races alongside the weeklys we've had so far?

Id agree with you. I enjoy the weekly grind on one particular track for the gr 4/3 events. My SR rating has gone down which im disappointed with because i have been the receiving end of battering rams. Very frustrating, but I understand that we arent as familiar with the track so...I finally did get a win at Kyoto Driving Park. Id trade the win to have my A/S rating back however

It takes a few days to find your qualifying bracket. After a few days of the weekly Kyoto, there would be less than 2 seconds between pole position and last place. Eveyone was competitive. It also takes a few days to learn a track and get a handle on how other drivers will behave on the track. After a few days drivers are far more sportsmanship-like.

I really enjoyed it the way it was. Just me?? Who has time to play every day anyway! I loved having a few cracks at the same race over the duration of the week. Steadily getting quicker and catching up to the big leagues. Especially since most of the tracks are still unknown to me. As well as not being able to play every day, how many hours are people putting in on each session? I'm lucky to get an hour or two. That's only long enough to try each race once!

There is a flip side. These events opening up in a few days and weeks are intended to run for longer so if that's your bag, which for me at least it is, you are catered for. And then there will be dailies alongside them. Win win :)

Honestly, its not just you. I enjoyed the ability to practice over a couple of days, given my limited time, and then hit a race one day and a couple more on the same track another day.

For a game that appears to emphasis “Good Sportsmanship” the actions taken by PD don’t seem to deliver an environment that produces that.

Perhaps they were naive and thought if they make people watch 2 videos than people will do the right thing...

Above and beyond school and missions there should have been testing even if people tossed it out after they got on the track. At least SOME would have picked up that they needed to act a certain way.

I have a DR A, but I am a terrible and slow driver and just fade to the back as to avoid the mayhem and also not to unnecessarily cost those who are better than me a race.

EDIT: "fade to the back" is not accurate...I get passed easily is better!!

I would also like to keep my DR-A and SR-S intact and with the races changing daily I don't see as much attraction to the races. I am certain that it was the longer time that the races were available that produced (most of the time) the quality of racing it did. I understand that some want a quicker rotation so they don't get bored so as I have said numerous times now, why the choice between the two? Why not add the daily rotations alongside the longer (weekly up until now) rotations?

Well put and good answer, Matt.

I like how it is now, can adjust to track quickly in qualifying trial. Some tracks I just can't master certain corners well and neither can most people. Like the first corner in the Gr.3 race currently. Everyone is having trouble with it.

My exact feelings also. Well said.

Just finished 2 GR.4 races at Dragon Trail II and to be honest, it's carnage anywhere but at the very front. The different feel to the racing now is very noticeable with much more sporadic driving.

Just my opinion obviously but having now tried the daily change format, it's not got the pull to keep me going back to improve again and again.

going onto day 2 of this, I’m not liking it much. I don’t have enough time to set a good qualifying time, learn the track, and race. I mean I guess this is ok because I’m learning to adapt quicker, but I like the old format, spend a day qualifying and learning the track, then racing the rest of the week. I think a 2 day rotation may suit this better.

Someone should tweet Kaz we want weekly garage car races with full tuning. It can catch on and Polyphony will have no choice but to do what the players want.

I agree with this. Especially for me who doesn't have all the time in the world I need more than one day to master a track, at least to the best of my own ability.

I see one potential problem though which is the more races they put up the harder it will be to get matchmaking for the different races because the player count might get spread out over too many races increasing wait time and so on.

Got no chance of nailing pole when I work. Daily races just aren't suitable for me and probably most people. We want close races with everyone having enough practice laps to know the track more....

Wins or any increase in place from the start just don’t feel as “earned” like they did in the weekly races since over 3/4 of the field has no clue about the track.

Dammit...I was working on my qual time for Seaside 2...finally got a decent one, exit out, and the track was changed to Tokyo Expressway. Urgh. :(

Very disheartening to hear some of your reports, gentlemen. I will try and hit the track sometime later today. Hoping for better.

Weekly races sucked. Glad it’s not the same over and over but maybe every other day races would be a good compromise?

Yes daily is so much better. I will quit my job and play gts for life. I will email Kaz to let him know before. Maybe they need a tester for gt7

It started so well. Now its a case of get some laps in then a race or two before it all changes again. It all feels rushed. Its changed into an arcade racer, thats what it feels like now.

So this morning amongst other things I raced the Tokyo Expressway outer loop in the Viper to get a 2'11.6 totally clean to be 3 seconds behind the leader in a megane.. so I jump in the megane also and still more than 2 seconds off totally clean haha.. how come when it's a lap with no walls that you see the same fast racers at the top.. yet stick an event up with walls and the top 10 are all unknowns? I say every single racer in the top 10 of tokyo leaderboard are wall riding.. what a bunch of sad losers with no skill whatsoever 👍

To the top 10 tokyo runners... stick to mario kart guys and you all smoke the donkey's sausage ;)👍

I want to spare a thought for PD here. During the beta the races changed daily.

Then at release they announced “daily” races would change once a week on Tuesday. Then this forum had a lot of people complaining that was too long between changes.

Now we’re back to daily changes and people still complain.

Having said that I think they should change it again since daily is a bit too short at the moment when everyone is learning tracks and cars - either have daily races change different days of the week but keep them for a week, or at least make one or two of the daily races last longer than a day.

That is the nature of the Beast usually. However, I think a nice middle ground of maybe like 3 days would be better than having it switch daily. At least give us enough time to have everyone get more acclimated to the racetrack. I have noticed that the racing is much much worse now. More accidents and more people who don't know the tracks.

Also, due to my own schedule, I'm finding that I only have a little bit of time to practice and sometimes where I'm actually finished qualifying and then come to find out that it is changed. It's because I live in Hawaii, obviously. Combine that with the fact that sometimes the servers go down for maintenance usually during my ideal play time and it kind of sucks. LOL

I'm sure PD are taking this into consideration. They have to fine tune it to find the sweet spot for the majority. A couple of weeks and I'm guessing there will be another cycle period tested. My SR has taken a bump, but I'll get it back and it's good practice to avoid troll brakers anyway.
Still loving the game, races still raise my BPM and I'm still logging in daily to go for a spin. It'll all work out. Hopefully!
