GT4 corrupt data club, 6 new members

I don't know for sure if this would work but you can try it. Use another PS2 memory card and try to copy it from your first memory card to memory card 2. Then after that you can delete it of the memory card 1 and put the file thats on memory card 2.

i did try that like i mentioned on my first post. it didn't work for me.
 
Put me on the list this thing says it corrupt but i dont know how that could have happened, i was playing last nite let it save. I went to start this morning to finsih up some races and it says it is corrupt. So there is no way of getting around this or fixing this problem, because i almost threw my ps2 against the floor,, WHY isnt PS3 out yet with a reliable hard drive. I can imagine that everyone who is on this post has felt this but i dont know what to do....

we should start a petition and send it to Polyphoic and PS2 about how this is bullcrap about this game. i have 4 memory cards of saved games and those never give me any problems. the one game that i play all the time has to mess up.
Because as you see this just hasnt happened to like 10 people this is like 5-8 pages of people that the same thing has happened too

I never thought I'd be joining this club. Also, I've come across a method of corrupting data that I didn't see mentioned yet in this thread.

I was in my blue Lancia Stratos. I wanted it stock again, so I put my card in Slot 2 then clicked Trade. I bought it from myself. Fine, nothing happened. But then, I sold the one I was just in. Afterwards, I got into the one I just bought from myself. When I clicked Get In, this notice popped up that said something like "The status of your garage (or car was it?) has changed. Are you sure you want to save?" I clicked OK, naturally. I wasn't sure though that it was a good idea to, and I almost didn't. But then I said "Whatever" and clicked OK. It began saving, then the game froze. I reset it, and when it would 'attempt' to auto-load my data, it once again froze. This only affected my main save and nothing else on my card, luckily.

But oh well, I'm much better at GT4 now than when I first started. I can start fresh in my quest to max out Bob's points, have a better win ratio (although I've actually destroyed it by trying to win high A-spec pt. races in the Sunday Cup, my first and only completed race.). I've done all the missions already, up to 23. And have 12 S-License tests to complete ("complete" = gold, for me). So I'm basically just looking at this as a way to get a good start, and to marvel at how easy this stuff is now that I've had enough experience in GT4 (I was 90% when my data was corrupted a few days ago).

edit: BTW, this might be a dumb question...but how do you link a club you're in into your sig? With words instead of the URL I mean.

just realized that i did the same thing that Dude? did but i did it with a red pontiac gto and it corrupted my data.... and i was just reading this thread over months after it happend and realized what i did
 
Hi all!!~

Believe it or not my game data corrupted right on 38.5%!

Was truly annoying but it only took me 4 hours to Gold all domestic and international licences ,, currently working on Special.

The licence tests and driving missions were certainly far easier second time 'round!

Ok, the list is fuly up to date now, and ive added another "X" to my coruption status, so im at 4 times now. PD, I really hope you've fixed this for the next GT, otherwise there's gonna be a ton of pissed gamers sending you emails.

Happend to me when i just had bout a Pescarolo Playstation race car.:nervous: AArrgh I was at around 40% too.

But I have gotten what I had and more over time,and I got a second memory card to back-up my data.:)

So, basically, is autosave the thing that causes the game saves and memory card itself to corrupt? I believe there are other factors as well.

Yes they are, but for some reason, whenever I play GT4 I save the game regularly after each time I play the game. That might be why my game has been corrupted 4 times now:dunce:
 
Add me to the list. I hate currupt data. Is that a glitch in gt4? It seems to happen alot so I would think it would be. I am not starting gt4 again until i get another memory card.
 
About a month ago, I saw the dreadful screen. My file was corrupted. I had about 50 mil saved, a couple Formula Gran Turismos and all the black cars.:grumpy: I was devastated for a while, but then I got over it. Now I am 34.6% done and have 2 Formula Gran Turismos. One Red, one Yellow and Black. Anyways, just don't give up if this ever happens to you.
 
will i was so stuped i thought i cuold sell myself the special cars for 200000 CR so i copped my GT4 save to the other memory card and while coppeing i switch it off.
that was right after i won me formula i was 67.3%
 
Yeeha. I was 89% complete. I had awesome cars. I now have squat.

At least on the bright side, my first car was my s2000 drifter again.
Good thing you can transfer 100 000cr from GT3.

This just goes to prove, again, that 3am racing is never a good thing.
Always wait for the save to finish before turning off the machine.

Note: In 100%, i had 689 cars, 70 golds, almost 30000 a-spec points, and mileage (a-spec) 23000km.

and i cant believe that im not breakin this monitor in front of me when i saw data dorupted on 74.9% (i think the toyota rsc rally car is taking revenge)

btw, any chance to edit the file in PC or edit the save game in MC through Linux with that PS2 DVD Linux thing bla bla bla (im gonna give it a try).

You must be doing something wrong... turn off autosave, don't turn off the PS2 while saving...ect

I'm happy to report I have progressed very far in GT4, and no problems with my game going corrupt (about time), but, at the same time, every "milestone" I hit in the game, I write a copy of my save to my PS2 hard drive. That, and I don't let anybody turn the PS2 off except me. :crazy:
