I was about as far as you were.. Altough i'm happy that now i have the Nismo 270r, when i was a n00b i decided to sell it.:scared:

Sorry for the small bump...

I forgot about the auto save and turned the ps2 off as I was in a hurry for work last night. Now I get the corrupt file screen. ACK im so mad :ouch:

So is there any way to fix it?! maybe recover it?

Thanks

Well if you have a backup file, you're fine. I'm thinking about buying either a Armax or an Gameshark or a Maxdrive, to get either as far as i where or to get infinite money, because i really think this is just a trick from PD to get us buying a new Copy of Gt4, and making more money:nervous:

Been lurking for awhile, finally found a reason to register and start posting. Unfortunately it was a bad reason...

Got the corrupted data this morning. I was having trouble with the GT World Championship and turned the game off out of frustration. Didn't realize it was auto-saving at the time.

I was only at 50% completion but I had several months invested into it (I spend a lot of time just screwing around, running practice laps etc). Had golds in all license tests except for the final license. Was almost finished with all the driving missions, rally races, and all races halls except for extreme. Just finished the last of the 24hr endurance races this weekend. Most painful loss though was all my favorite cars I had collected.

Anyways I guess Im gonna take a brake from GT4. Any recommendations for a good cheap PS2 game I can pick up to distract me from my losses?

Wow. It happened again. I was playing GT4 when my mom thought it would be funny to blow a fuse.. no power in the house, and when I eventually got my PS2 back on... it was corrupt.

Hmm...what can I say? My data is corrupted, dont know why; on the day before It worked without any problems and now nothing works anymore.
I did absolutely NOTHING to damage the datas on my memory card, it just stopped working right. :dunce:
I had all bonus cars you can get with the driving missions inclusive 34.:scared:

I am really pissed off, I won't play it again. I wont even touch it again.:grumpy:

Can I join as a week ago it corrupted 2 times in one week and I dont use Auto-save. Which means I was back at the begininng twice in 1 week, riduclous or what?
And my I have had to buy a 2nd GT4 because of the Playstation not liking GT4 I mean how can it not its a amazing game!

My name can get added to this list now, Corrupted on me last night, It just goes to show, dont drink and Gt4, I thought the game was done autosaving and i had my finger by the button waiting to shut it off but i slipped and hit it by accident. Luckily I have it backed up on a USB flash stick and I just used maxdrive to bring it back, but this time i disabled autosave

HAHA. dont drink and gt4. Yes, I've learnt that lesson too.
This next thing happened to my friend. It was actually his girlfriend that did it, but she came to me and told me that his GT4 wont load and says data corrupt.

I told her:"You reset while it was saving"
She says:"no but, WAWAWAWAW"
I say: "You RESET while SAVING!"
She says:"but what about WAWAWAWA"
I say:"no. YOU reset WHILE saving"

Needless to say, it took a while.
He eventually just copied my savefile, but the worst is he was on 100% complete and just needed 1 more gold on superlicences to have all gold in all licences.

I thought it was quite funny although I cant say that to his face cause he's quite depressed about it.

The only tip I've seen is don't use autosave. Are there any other tips to avoid joining this club, other than really obvious stuff like don't switch off or reset while saving, as per the instructions.

What I might do is keep a copy of my stuff on a second and third memory card (which I have) and MAYBE get a maxdrive to back it up...but I think the maxdrive would be overkill.

You can add me to the list. It happened to me in 2004 with GT4P. I bought a second memory card and copied everything on this card. If I had a corrupted file, I at least had my copy on my second card.

I have no idea why it corrupts, but just turn it off anyway.

It won't just corrupt with auto save on. However, people tend to shut the console off right at the main screen, so, auto-save is still writing the file when the PS2 is shut off. This only writing the file half way, and corrupting it.

That being said. I have had different problems not related to auto save. Such as the PS2 simply refusing to write the file.

All right, the list has everyone listed now

exept me:P

happend to me, in december. wasn't thaat bad. (56%) just to bad I ll have to do these 6 months of nice GT4 racing all over. Else I had wasted 100 bucks on a DFP, witch I had bought a week before "the corruption"...

well you all got my sympathetic thoughts.

Does anybody know if my GT4 file will get corrupt even though I play it on my PS3? It might be a stupid question, but I just want to make sure.

I have yet to experience one on the PS3. I have heard of the saves just "disappearing" from the HDD. No idea when or how it happens. Its pissed a lot of people off and $ony has done NOTHING about it.

Ill let you guys know if and when it happens...

Ok well I don't know if this is the right place, but its a bit similar. My PS2 (Slim Model) works fine, plays all other PS2 games ok, but when I pop GT4 in there, nothing happens. It doesn't read the game, it makes this repetitive clicking noise. And its really quite annoying. I've been thinking of heading out and buying a new PS2 (I won't be getting a PS3 anytime soon), but only for one game? anyone has comments on this or has experienced this on their own systems?

i would say blow out the dust, but seeing as its a slim, that might not work. gt4 is well worth 150 bucks to play, but first, try playing it on another ps2 console, say, a friends? try it out on a slim and a fatboy model.
