I've been using auto-gearing of '9' ... I never get into 6th, but then I don't feel like I'm frantically trying to get through the gears either. I'm going to try VexD's trick given above (thanks VexD!) and see if it improves or not, because I like the cut of his jib.

@VexD ... I'm taking the corner before the tunnel exactly as you described, so maybe I'm not too far off the mark here.

What is everyone doing for the chicane? ME? I'm typically slamming on the brakes just BEFORE I get to the red 'sign' on the right hand wall, turning smoothly into the chicane in 2nd, letting her coast just around the first bend and then gunning it for the straight-out exit.

I bet h0llo is taking it in 4th. Without braking. :ouch:

Okay, finally ran a clean lap with DS2 and manual gear selection. Using all 6 gears to rev limiter right at braking point into chicane after tunnel.

Quite a learning experience...

T1 25.467 but I have seen 24.9 so I that's comforting
T2 1:07.063

Long way to go...

That's the method I doing. Although I keep clipping the kerb resulting in 2 seconds of wheel spin.

It wouldn't surprise me if holl01 is doing it in 4th. :scared:

Well, I did a small 10 min session and I've got this far:
T1: 24.828
T2: 1.06.345

Much improvement to do, the car is stable but understeers like there is no tomorrow. 👍

That chicanes a pain... the larger one(Piscine) after it is my tough spot though. Through the first chicane, I go wide about the time the gear "suggestion" pops up, I slam the brakes and take a nice 45 degree angle through the first turn, let off the gas to correct, then launch out of the chicane full throttle. Piscine(right before T2) is a problem. In GT3 I had to brake to get through the first turn, and now, even though I know I don't have to, I still am tapping the brake. I broke out of the habit and got a low 1'08 for one lap.

I've knocked almost 2 seconds off my overall final thanks to working on my racing line.

Did a couple more laps last night and improved slightly on second sector.

T2- 1'05.636

But finally did swimming pool "swimmingly" and picked up .445 at the line. :)

Regarding my description of how I'm doing the LRR combo before the tunnel, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it. But that's how it goes when you are experimenting with setups and lines and such. No one does it quite the same.

One thing in my setup that's different from what I'm reading here, is I'm using auto 3 gearing and stretching 6th a little. Seem to get more pop out of the corners. Again, this may be working as a result of the rest of my "bizzare" setup. :yuck:

No, no, no...

The learning experience will come when you see that all of the people running under 1'06.0 are using 5 gears, not 6.

6 puts too much time into shifting and when you are shifting you are not putting power to the wheels, hence, you are going slower.

You will see. :D

In the mean time, I'm still putting in laps and I just managed to get a new best, beating my last lap.

I spoke to Iceman about this yesterday, but...

I made the mistake of doing my best lap with a perfect final section.
Ok, maybe not perfect, but I garuntee the split between my t2 and my final is nearly as fast as hotboi.

Now why is that a mistake you ask? lol.
Because now I have to beat it!

You see... If my first section was perfect then I could just match it over and over until I got a great finish.
However, with a perfect final section I am stuck with beating my ghost around the track for 2/3rds of the way, then having the ghost pull an amazing come-back and slip past me on the final 2 turns.

It really sucks to run great laps with mediocre endings and always end up behind a bad lap with an awesome ending.

Plus, like I said, the come-back ghost is always there to beat me in the final 2 turns... Not only does it rub my face in the dirt, but it also makes me think about just how fast I could do this with a full lap at that pace.

Any way...
I'll be around and as usual, I will update you all when ever something happens.
Till next time,

Duff-Man says: "Oh yeah!"

T1=24.949
T2=1'06.981

Settings you may ask? Well....

HP=420 with NA tune 3 and oil change. I also went for some nice rims and a car wash so you can see you reflection a mile away!

Brake Balance: 3/3 (stock)
Tires: Racing Medium (R3)

Springs: 17/15.8 (these numbers were fairly abritrary; not completely adjusted)
Ride Height: 55/55 (min)
Bound:5/5
Rebound: 8/8
Camber: 3.2/1.8 (these, too are undadjusted and just guestimates I threw in)
Toe:0/0
Stabilizers: 6/6

Final Gear: 4.100 (stock)
Auto: 8 (don't quite top-out at the straight; it's perfect!)

TCS:1

Downforce: 25/35 (max; stock)

LS differentials:
Initial Torque: 25
Accel.: 45
Decel: 20

Handling on this setup is beautiful for me! I'm using every part of the track I can and I'm very content with it. It is VERY stable. Despite that, I'm sure I can squeeze a second or two on my lap time with more careful tuning.

Have fun and good luck! :D

I'm using 5 gears, and it work great...getting 24.4xx t1, and best I saw for t2 was 1.05.2xx, I'd just like to finish clean those laps though... :(

I was wondering about that... I'll reset the gears to use only 1-5 and see. Thanks for the dope slap! :^)

Ah, the great "come-back ghost". I've had to deal with that before in the past and you're right, it does suck.

-Scott

Okay, here's a question... Regarding using 5 gear ratios or 6... I guess what really matters is what the lowest gear you use is then right? While driving 6 gears, I drop down to 2nd at the lowest, never first, and only into second for a quick rotation assist at the left hairpin before the tunnel, half the time at the chicane exiting the tunnel, and on the last set of corners before the finish. Does this mean I'm using 5? Or 6?

Kent, are you using 1st gear at all? If not, then aren't you actually using only 4 gears?

-Scott

New splits for me.

I would be loads faster if I could do T1 right, still haven't done anything to my knowledge better than a 24.8xx

T1 - 24.946
T2 - 1'06.112

Interesting thoughts on gearing, everyone.. guess I'm going to be testing a few things later as I am still running a tight 6 over the course..

T1: 24.523 (edit: switched back to the inside line)
T2: 1'05.452

5 gears is definitely the way to go here. Actually I'm only using 4 gears 2nd through 5th.

i'd say this will be my best week
about 50 laps done. great car
T1 24.601
T2 1:05.735
and getting better street tracks rule

DFP for the leaderboard

What the heck did I do now?

Frankly ... I got on here to post some splits and read some good posts, instead I see that my advice is pi$$ing people off.

Screw this.

well speaking as a newbie without the slightest idea on car tuning - just a love for racing- i cherish every piece of advice and information given by anyone on this site. but its extra good to be able to get it from someone who speaks in plane english and can appreciate everyone has different styles and skills when it comes to gt4.

you keep that advice coming girl or its you and me....

i also break where you do nat, but as i go round the first left, i'm still in third. i changed to 2nd as i touch the rumble strips of the right then power out as straight as possible.

I try and avoid the rumble strips right there ... I tend to loose traction and a great deal of time if I touch them.

i actually ment next to the rumble strip - using it as a marker- but didnt quite know how to put that into english!!

but hey, managed it now! :dunce:

w00t, provisional 7th for now. ^_^

T1: 0'25.367
T2: 1'07.524

What chicane are you gals talking about? The one after the tunnel?

@hot604boi - yes i saw a 23.xx - nailed the corner at the bottom of the hill just right and owned my ghost all the way to the end of the tunnel straight, clipped the curb in the chicane and hit the outside wall :banghead: :ouch:  prob. was a second ahead by then :sly:

wait till i get more time this evening and will "hopefully" get better times

loved racing on this track w/ the f1's from gt3 except it was almost as long if not longer than the enduro.

I only use 5 gears on this track - 5th at end of tunnel straight - top of 4th at top of the first hill, helps keep the rev's up in the tighter turns and less shifting :dopey:

I did more 150 km yesterday about, so total of 210 km, and got a nice time. 0.5 are left at this moment, maybe on reckless driving, 0.8. :D

T1 - 0'24.495
T2 - 1'04.968
T3 - 1'2x.??? :D

EXelero
yep thats the one!!!

cool, i keep my eye out for a bit on the right where the buildings kinda dip in just before the corner, you cant miss it.
it's just before the chicane, i slam the brakes right when im next to it and try to miss the rumble strip by about 3 inches. I keep the steering to a minimum so I can get a smooth, fast exit from the last little right/left bit. I'm having some trouble with Lowes Hair-Pin and Massanet. I'm sure I could slice a little more off my time there. I'm chasing my friend R34JSE because we wanna get put in the same team for next week.

I was just thinking about this team concept again.

Predict it, I can not.

CFM,
I am looking foward to seeing what's up your sleeve.
There haven't been any team events in the wrs history (if I re-call correctly).

Good luck to you.
Also,
I'm still wondering to myself how exactly the teams will be selected.
I suggest you do not say a word about it until the very last second. Suprise us all in the first post of the results thread for this week.

That way you will also get to show us how the system worked based on our times from this race. 👍

Any way,
I'm headed to the game for a few minutes, so back to the track I go!
