Kent,

Please clarify for me if you use four gears (2nd through 5th) or 5 (1st through 5th).

You said "use 5 gears" but I'm wondering if we're both using 5 (you 1st through 5th and me 2nd through 6th).

Later!

A butcher'ed T1, but almost .4secs and .2s faster at the finish line. :D

T1: 24.997
T2: 1'05.705
T3: 0987654321

well speaking as a newbie without the slightest idea on car tuning - just a love for racing- i cherish every piece of advice and information given by anyone on this site. but its extra good to be able to get it from someone who speaks in plane english and can appreciate everyone has different styles and skills when it comes to gt4.

you keep that advice coming girl or its you and me....

BIG CAT FIGHT!

How on earth did I miss this originally? If I knew I was going to get my ass whupped, I would have disagreed with you earlier!

No more advice for you! Come back, one year!

Didn't think that ANY combo could make me hate this track!

Guess what?????

I Don't Know! :banghead: I just cannot dial out the power-understeer on this car, i can do consistant high 24/low 25 T1's and have seen a genuine mid 1,06 T2 (completely clean to that point)

Then at the left exit of the swimming-pool complex i just shaved the rear on the 'bump' in the armco that is 3/4 of the way out of the corner :ouch: , and dumped the lap on the final 'straight' coz i was WAY ahead of my fastest ghost and didn't want the hassle of a catch-up ghost constantly beating me to the line!

Any ideas?...............anyone!

All of the setups i have seen have really strong spring settings, too strong, it goes against EVERYTHING i know about car handling to have a lightish, FR car that understeers, with springs set that strong. Plus quite a few have high camber angles too! If the car is SO stiff, the suspension shouldn't flex enough to require 3.5 degrees or more to put the profile of the tyre flat to the road in the corners.

Now, i know that the BTCC/STCC/any touring car championship cars have high camber angles on their car's, BUT.....and it's a big BUT,

Their car's are heavier, AND they can use REALLY sticky rubber also.....SO........their suspension's move more, so more camber!

Maybe i'm talking/typing crap, but i really am at a loss as what to do!

k
worked on setup
and managed this OK time
24.491 (had 24.183 with this setup!)
1'05.172

and finished just OK there is still many seconds left, not literally. heres my EXACT setup from settings screen, i'm not gonna be secretive like some people:

19.1/16.7
55/60
9/8
9/8
7/5
(no toe or camber adjustmnts)

BB 3/3
LSD 5/5/5 (really loosens the car up so u can start drifting aroun those tight hairpins

auto gears 4 (only use gears 3 to 6)
plenty more tocome with this setup, bye

edit:i was right, this setup is a little ripper!!
24.385
1'04.810
still .2 left but i demolished the finish, i'm happy with the lap, all cos of turning LSD off i think, it helped alot. cheers!

@holl01...do you actually use 3rd going through the left hairpin? And with an auto gear set at 4, you don't top out coming out of the tunnel?

 BLEEDIN HELL!!!!

Hat's off to ya mate, That is bloody fast!

And i have no idea how you can go THAT fast with those settings!

SO.......all i can do is try your settings and like the Borg, ADAPT but have no chance to overcome!

T1: 24.724 (ugh.. whatever)
T2: 1'05.216 (best I've seen so far, but know I finished poorly)

Another 50km session, managed an improvement of .2 seconds. Lost a tenth over the final section from my previous best (damn i think i did that final section very close to perfectly last time) but finally got my T2 into low 1'05s.

T1: 0'24.559
T2: 1'05.100

PS: Am i the ONLY one using settings that are softer than stock? Seems like everyone whos posted settings has posted suspension settings that are much much harder than the stock settings.

yep, thrd for the left hairpin and stay in third untill u reach tunnel, and no, i dont max out

after the shickane, the fast left, shift down to 4th for more tourque, then to fifth for the left right, and down to third for the tricky righ left, for the last corner, take in 4th, requires some skill to do it fast. i will do some more laps, but everyone, use this setup

i saw 3 mistakes each costing .1 each from sart to T2, so there is room for improvement

You're not too alone. Here is my setup..

Note: If you aren't on the throttle or the brakes (even if just a little bit), the car can be very loose in places, but still predictable.

Springs: 11.3/10.4
Ride Height: 76/76
Bound: 5/6
Rebound: 3/5
Camber: 2.6/1.4
Toe: 0/0
Stabilizers: 5/5

TCS/ASM: 0/0/0
The only place I'm getting wheelspin is at Loews hairpin since I drop to 2nd here and am not light enough on the throttle during my run.

Brakes: 3/3

Ballast: 30 (Have been adding and removing this for each of my setups, but keep going back to it. Seems to help with the power understeer that ballstothewall speaks of.)
Weight Balance: -50

LSD: 10/10/5

Transmission: I am using the 'gear trick' with a final drive of 4.95. I use a very short 6th gear with a mildly stretched 3rd, tall 4th and 5th gear. I get 2nd gear once on the course: Loews hairpin.

I did not install the "Increase Rigidity" modification as it seemed to make the understeer worse.

Thanks for posting those Z ... I was using a modified version of your previous settings and have always found them to be well thought out (ie, soft springs). I'll probably try what you have above, although I'll have to buy another car, because I installed the roll cage in the first one :P

I think you may have nailed some of the issues right there, because I never normally buy that particular "upgrade".

Thanks again.

had t1 of 24.069 once, but cant seem to nail the lap yet, i'll try some more on weekend

bet my time by .3 with a reckless finish

t1 24.330
t2 1'04.830

made a .3 sec mistake towards the tunnel entrance

I´ve got 24.0 too once, maybe 23.9 is possible if your setup is really good. :)

I shall try later tho

I've never really noticed increased understeer from installing the rollcage. Maybe it's just how I set up my cars? Well if it does increase understeer then it helps me... somehow... I think... I might buy a new car though and run it without the roll cage. Maybe then I'll knock the seconds off my final time I want to get rid of!

I believe this depends a lot on your setup and driving style. When I had that modification installed, I stiffened up the springs a lot (similar to holl's setup) and it seemed to help, but never really felt the same way as without it. I know the text at the bottom of the screen describing the modification says it might increase understeer in some cars.. but it doesn't in all of them. In my experiences, the race cars are usually stiff enough to not require the modification, but most street cars I have installed it on have improved handling as a result. Mileage may vary.

Clean lap. At least its something.

24.726
1'05.554

Slow in all 3 sectors.

Attention all drivers:

If you do not want to participate in the team event next week, or do not feel like you will have enough free time over the next wo weeks to put in your best time, then please let me know that you do not want to be assigned to a team when you PM me your final time for week 11. If you do want to get a teammate, you don't have to say so, I'll get somebody for you automatically unless you directly ask not to be paired up. Thanks everyone.

P.S. If you just want to run solo in week 12 that is fine also.

thanks for clearing that up CFM. I don't want to run in a team if I can't get my times low. Another second or so and I'll be happy.

@CFM: One question regarding the teams...are you going to pair them up by divisions, or is it going to be by times alone?

I believe CFM said late Tues. or early Wed. that teams won't be based on division... of course I could've been seeing things again... I haven't gotten much sleep this week.

Extra bit of info if anyone was looking to squeeze some acceleration out of the car. Auto 9 with a final of 4.4 seems to have a bit better acceleration than auto 4 with the normal 4.1 final.

I don't get it. Before I went out on my first run at the beginning of the week, all I did was set the auto gear to 8 and set camber to 3.0 and 1.5. Since then, I set the auto gear to 7. Got a little faster. I then further play with the settings but yet I run worse times. Mind you that these are only minor setting changes. I decide to go back to my original settings. I run faster times. I tune again, run slower. Reset, run faster. Make me wonder if I should tune the car in an opposite manor of what I'm trying to do.

If you don't understand what I said, sorry. I re-read it and confused myself. :dunce:

EDIT: Forgot to post my splits

T1 0:25.032 <-------Broke into 24's a couple of times
T2 1:06.726 <-------I'm liking this
T3 Still pushing for that goal

I know what you mean. I'm running a brand new car with stock settings except for min ride height and auto 9 with 4.4 final. I havent touched anything else. Here are my fastest splits so far with this setup:

T1: 24.987
T2: 1'08.417

Strategy for today: Forced Acceleration. This would be easier and faster with a MT but can be done with AT. To get a boost of acceleration, downshift and then upshift quickly, the extra revs from being in a lower gear gives you a noticable boost of acceleration. People, like me, racing with AT can really only utilize this trick before a turn. With AT, all you have to do is tap the brake before a turn, and if while braking the car downshifts, before your revs drop to much, punch the gas and get a big boost out of the corners. The AT method is harder to explain but might be easier to utilize at this track. But what do I know, I don't like racing MT unless I have a shifter infront of me.

Damn, can you get any freakin' closer to dirty than this!!?? I know I can't... (D1's don't count cause they can do anything) :scared:

Wow. How else do we get our times?

Not me though, I'm dead last in D1 this week haha

T1: 24.676
T2: 1.05.801

Altough the T2-T3 part was fast as hell, so I'm kinda proud. :P

I'm having so much fun with this weeks combo 👍
The only downfall of the car is that it has one hell of a widebody, but you can't see that it is in the 'hood view'. This makes a lot of clean fast laps, turn to dirty and slow jut by touching the freaking left-right-left wall. :ouch:

Btw, what colours did ya'll choose on your car? I went by the indigo :sly:

Keep it Famine style 👍
