Anyone like to describe how to go fast up the hill and not smack the wall at the end. So far I can either do that or crawl over the last two sections and then accelerate from the corner.
Sometimes it's good to go slow in order to go fast. Take third gear through there, start braking, or at least tap the brakes or something before you go over the last jump before the corner. Play around with it, stay to the left until you cut in. Get your braking done before the corner, etc. :)

I had a couple minutes at the wheels last night before I fell asleep. Down to 1'06.8 or so I think. Didn't have a clean one yet that I was satisfied with enough to post splits for. Tonight I should have one. :)

First off:
esh: My El Camino was bronze on gold. The only reason I got rid of it? Like all El Camino's it leaked like a sieve around the windshield when it rained. In the winter you had to scrape the inside as well as the outside of the windshield. Besides that, it cost me too much money, those four barrels cost me a number of speeding tickets.

Jerry: never saw that one before LMAO and so is the better half as she almost did something quite similar once upon a time only she grabbed a baseball bat. Fortunately, I saved the little bugger!!:nervous:

Kenny: Good luck on Friday. Hope that shoulder operation turns out well for you mate. We're on travel tomorrow and I doubt I'll get in here Thur so take care.

Oh yea: splits. Well, I sure wish I had all week to run. I won't submit on the off chance the son-in-law has his ps2 hooked up. In any event.

29.300
1'09.390

Just enough to keep me in the basement!!:banghead:

You should be in 5th at the first opportunity for air on the hill, and stay there until youve jumped twice.
The moment you're in the air of the second jump (like immediately) start braking mid-air so youre on that pedal when you land, and bring it down to 2nd if you're me, or 3rd if you're Holl01, and start to turn and apply throttle to get the car to change direction instead of just hitting the wall at the end of the incline.

If you think you're the only one hitting that wall consistently, you're wrong, we've all been doing it, its just that some have kept going, while others have grown tiresome of the cars inability to perform like a car.

Like me.

Good luck all, and so far, may i say this is quite a comical thread for many reasons, not least of all, my original splits......

:irked:👍

Very minor improvements from me, but I did reach my end-of-lap goal. Better times should be forthcoming by this weekend (hopefully! :scared:). The car sort of fits my on-off driving style, as it turns only on throttle. It's fun to get a corner just right and blaze through it much faster than your ghost. Except then you are a little of line in the next corner and it passes you like you're standing still.
T1 - 27.357 (still seen .216)
T2 - 1:05.903

Huh, I take the hill a little differently, and judging by my T1s, it might be a good alternative strategy if you don't want to keep bashing the wall (I don't know what holl01 is doing, but that's obviously better). I brake briefly at the landing of the second jump, punch the gas for a moment, and then brake hard at the last flat bit before I start to turn in, preferably going only a little below 60 mph. I hit the gas right at the start of the curb and run as much of the car as possible over it. The exit speed you get this way makes up a huge amount of time on the mini-straight.

Edit: Steven, it looks like you overlooked Mr P's small edit at the bottom of his post 36, which lists a 1:05.6xx for T2. Sorry to be correcting you all the time!

Not at all mate mr. Austin, thanks for that 👍 it's what keeps me sharp and Luxy exact. And BTW, Ron of all people should know  not to edit t's after I posted an update post but hey, even the aliens are 'only human' (quote from a mr. Smith in the Matrix).

update EDIT update up to post 69 76

Me I finally dived below the 1"10 mark after a lap or 10 with 28.663 - 1"09.921.

Thanks Ron and safe travels.

Well Well Well...looks like everyone is finding it hard this week i cant pulls a good clean lap lately but keep ur chin up boys.

ive find if u dont brake and turn at the same time u will find it alot better to handle round the corners...

Sorry, just had to post it.

Updated splits for me tonight -

28.118
1:07.917

Have seen some better laps with wall taps, will get this one cleaned up this weekend. :)

Kevin

T1 0'27.365
T2 0'1'07.265

QUIK!

New splits:
T1: 27.757
T2: 1.07.094

I've changed from top view to the bumper cam and after some getting used too it seems to boost my times :).

I think most people drive bumper cam, it seems to most closely mimic the effect of driving a real car. The exception of course is our resident Alien Mr Kiddy Mode :D

Thanks for the video too Sphinx, I needed that one. Actually started to feel more comfortable driving the soap bar around the Seattle dish, and I think my T2 actually went under 1:09 on my current save. Lookout Dan, your measly 1:04.3xx is starting to look beatable :-~~~~~~~~~~~~

I reckon everyone should drive kiddy view with me! ... look how much fun the last member had when he made the switch back

I still pipped him to the line though :sly:

Nah! ... Thats Hugo on one of the very rare occasions I had the edge over him :P

Nah... You were expecting me on the inside, while I'm actually passing you on the outside ;)

I am reaching my limit here. I know I can theoretically do better but it requires getting every corner perfect... and there's an enormous margin of error in this car.
T1 - 27.293 (every session I get either a .216, .217, or .218, and it's bugging me)
T2 - 1:06.074 (:odd: slower than before - I found a great line for between T1 and the hairpin, but between the end of the downhill and T2 screwed me up)
Gained .3 at the line, so my last sector was obviously good.

Can we please create a Division 0, just for holl01? I think he has a 1.5 to 2 second advantage at the line over all of the rest of us.

Herding this brontosaur around gives me great appreciation for race drivers of the bygone era. You can be fast, but you better stay focused and have serious skills with the brakes. Things can get ugly in a hurry, and there is just no changing direction quickly in this type of car.

But when you get it right, serious buzz in the head! My best so far is 27.3xx and 1:05.7xx, one light wall tap early in the lap so it's not legit. Knew I kissed it just before the uphill, so I was free to make a banzai run for the rest of the lap. I'll be happy if I can cover this ghost on a clean lap.

well tried some more laps in the hope of an improvment, which i accomplished overall, but splits went backwards

26.735
1'04.305

i really should have nailed a 1'03.8xx t2 split that i obtained on wednesday, i was too bitterly dissapointed to mention it untill now:dopey: in that lap i thought i had it, just exiting the final chickane i hit the wall, then i rebounded off the other wall and still crossed the line .075 slower than my best, damn! lol

Finially got in a clean time which im happy with alot of improvement for my self can still see places where i could shave some more time but this will do for now i might be able to get another session in some time over the weekend!

T1 0'27.566

I find that with the NTSC game the Chevrolet Corvette Coupe (C2) '63 is in the By Manufacturer and this weeks Z06 in the By Era area if anyone has trouble finding it.

TCS

I have only found the Chevrolet Corvette Coupe (C2) '63 and bought it but I don't think it's the correct car though...

How do we get the race version? :indiff:

Win the Corvette Cup manufacturer's race event.

I think only 3 races, non champ.

And you should be able to win it in your 63 coupe you bought :)

'Vette 'Vette 'Vette event under Chevrolet Dealer.

5 x 4 laps races @ Seattle, Laguna Seca, New York Reverse, Infineon Raceway Sports Car Course and El Capitan.

*edit* Tree'd ^ (Although my info is more correct! :P)

Yep - I came from the cuff with it and was a little off. :dopey:

Looing forward to the LAN, Nick.

You planning to crank some out on this combo here?

Looking forward to catching you for real at SFGTP3 too!

It's a distinct possibility now that I'm free of the Super Speedway 150 miles event, having upped my previous best by 43 A-spec points, that I'll go and run some laps here! :D

Look out Seattle!
This car got used by some of the folks at SFGTP2 round Seattle, I think jump_ace was one of them, although in full 6 lap race mode on Racing Mediums it was a total tyre-shredder IIRC! :ouch:

Back at it for a little more tonight. :)
