The first thing I want to know is how much time do you spend thinking up snappy titles for the week's event CFM?
You've got a knack that's for sure!
Ok. Did first 1.5 hr session. Had to get all reaquainted with the track cause haven't driven it in seems like years. What a great track though! It's got everything....which seems to be the point....but the way to drive it is much different than I remember.
First of all I just tested 2 cars, the Arta, and the Mobile1. Did the Arta first just cause it was always slow, so I didn't figure that would change much and thought I should be able to handle it anyway. LOL! And I wasn't disappointed with the snap hook tendencies of the high powered MR's either. But anyway I remembered an old setup that while not extremely fast, makes it easy to drive the car. Sure enough it still works. So for those that are having trouble with EXTREME oversteer as in the ends swap just by hittin the brakes when you have the teeniest bit of steering input, here you go. This setup is fairly neutral (even a little understeering) and you can hit curbs without hooking the tires. Setup is for both cars, but a couple exceptions that will be noted:
tires- R5 f/b
bb- 4/5
suspension
8.8/11.8
80/80
3/4
6/7
2/1
0/0
3/4
gears- (arta auto 15) (mobile1 auto 17)
aids-20/0/1
df-50/70
lsd- 5/30/45
mobile 1 ballast 70kg@-25
keep in mind this is just a rough setup to get you round the track without having a coronary. Once you get used to the car, adjustments can be made to make it faster.
First rough t-times. Clean, but nowhere near potential.
Arta
(T1: 32.069)
(T2: 1'02.995)
Mobile 1
T1: 31.709
T2: 1'01.885
I spent the majority of time in the Arta. IMO not only is the Mobile faster, but it handles much better also. The T2 was after only 3 or 4 laps in the Mobile which was enough to convince me that it will be my choice this week. That is unless the Mugen proves to be better.......
That's it. Give the setup a try! I hope it gets you round in
Grand fashion.....Ok. I'll shut up now.
