Hey Todd, I have a question regarding these two vehicles:

Honda Takata Dome NSX (JGTC) '03
NSX-R Prototype LM Race Car '02

Would they be allowed to partecipate in the race with the proper P/W ratio?

Just thought they would add to the variety and maybe not everybody will end up with the Mobil 1 and the Loctite...

...Even if the Mobil 1 was my first choice - just a matter of looks :D

Later.

The Wizard.

No, the Takata was just too powerful compared to the rest, and I didn't even test the Prototype since it is a prize car and everyone whines when we use one of those. ;) Five to choose from isn't too bad though. Unfortunately only two will be competitive though.:indiff:

I am driving the Mobil, having the same happening with the rev counter. It must, as has been said previously, be the stage 4 turbo 'spiking'.

Actually it seems just as bad if not worse in standard trim.

I have no idea what it is because it doesn't happen at half throttle. If it were a real car I'd be pulling the car apart looking at the fuel system and engine management :)

Maybe coil packs too 💡

Thanks, Androos! I think that you will find the speed needed soon. You're using the DFP. You have bought one recently, right? Use it! I think it's really an advantage here since it's much easier to control the throttle. I can give you some tips on how to improve your time:

Use the softest tire on all four. Balance is always important.

Try to use ASM as little as you can. Compensate it with the LSD. My settings are:
initial:30
rear:60
front:30
I'm actually using no ASM or TCS!!! That means:
over:0
under:0
tcs:0

Another clue: I'm not using full downforce. I will not be more specific than that right now since the settings are not perfect.

This goes for all of you: Gear MANUALLY! Since we put a stage 4 turbo on this machine and it's a Honda so it revs high, you can earn some time on gear up as late as you can. (more revs means higher turbo pressure and more horsepowers)

Come on Androos!! Give it all you got! 👍

Yup been using the DFP and I can't imagine trying the paddle again. I'm having a hard enough time as it is. Manual transmission, no ASM but using TCS of 2. Super-soft tires. I will try your recommendation of using less than full downforce. I have taken a bit off the front to try to quell the snapping around some of these corners, but if I take some off the rear and gain some speed, that may help me.

LSD tips are good...I can never seem to figure that out. Thanks!

I don't know if I'll be into the 1:00's but I think 1:01 is attainable for me. Thanks again for the encouragement.

Here are some terrible splits:

T1: 32.401
T2: 1:03.355

Maybe coil packs too 💡

If we were driving a Volkswagen, the coil packs would be the first thing you should look at

Is it just me or does it sound a little like Chewbacca at high revs???

Every week you end up killing me in the WRS Androos I'm hoping to give you a run for your money this week :)

New T-times:

T1: 31.098 (I could improve it!)
T2: 1'00.417

Tip for the first hairpins:
Try to take them at a controlled slide.

Thinking about trying the Loctite. The place where you really can make time is in the middle of the track.

I would add also the final slow chicane, there you can make magics if you nail it all. :)

My splits from the run I was talking about earlier are

T1: 31.574
T2: 1'01.415
T3: Not great, slid going into the tunnel and braked late for the final chicane, but that'll change...

Should've looked at them earlier so they would have been included in the leaderboard update... Oh well.

And now that I discovered that I went the wrong way round (reverse) I actually can compare my times with everyone else... was wondering why I'm that fast from the go...... 💡
And Androos and KLR might understand now why I didnt make sense..

* going away...shaking his head in disbelieve.......uuuuurgh :ouch: :nervous: *

Ack! It's been 2months (!!) since I've been able to get the energy to play GT4. I'm sooo slow!

Loctite:
33.745
1'04.161

This seems like a fun car/track combo. Should be some interesting sliding goin' on!

Honda Mobil 1 NSX '01

T1 - :31.499
T2 - 1:01.891

U got me beat so far Kyle, nice work! I'm happy I FINALLY got some kind of decent lap made, not where I want to be but its a good jump.

Had a quick go, messed up corners in all 3 sectors, especially the last.

31.240
1'00.696

Leaderboard updated

Just turned off TCS altogether, ran a few more laps and destroyed my old time. This lap is spectacularly messy...bad braking, bad gear changing, bad lines into the corners so I'm confident I can knock another couple of seconds off

T1: 0'32.030
T2: 1'02.429 (Once saw 1'01.7xx but screwed it)

I also noticed my car lost power quite quickly, an oil change fixes it but it happened after like 400km?!? So keep topping up your oil folks :)

Why thank you! I bet you've got me beat on the overall lap though... My T2-T3 is not my best although overall it was my fastest by a tenth or so. I ran probably 5-6 laps within a tenth of that though.

We'll see what happens when I hop back into the car though, I did the chassis refresher, and uh oh, understeer!

Ive been busy setting up home computers and waiting for ADSL modems, Everything still not sorted so i wont be on heaps but as the BC is looming i better start racing GT4 to get back into form lol. This week seems fun and its a track i like.

Im using the mobil NSX as it looks nice, does anybody know what the best car is?, I havnt done much to settings but i found that you run the ride height higher so you can ride the kerbs a bit better around 60mm or so and the weight ballast have it close to the middle as you can as if its too much frontal you loose front grip around corners, too much rear and it slides too much. If anybody knows how to cure lift off oversteer pipe up now.

This week is confusing me. If it didn't involve tuning, I'd love it. But, tuning...I can't really cope. I'm leaving the car pretty much standard this week.

It also seems this is going to be again a highly contested D3 this week again. So I better get a move on, and do more then the 5 laps I've done so far!

Every week you end up killing me in the WRS Androos I'm hoping to give you a run for your money this week :)

Weary, I think this may be your week. I'm having a very hard time coming to grips with this car and this track. Neither really suit my driving style. I've hated this track since Day One. Those tunnel turns make the apex almost impossible to pick up.

Puck may say that I like oversteering cars, which is true, but I like predictable oversteering cars. Not cars that will snap around on you whenever they feel like it. The NSX is very, very aggravating. I know I got on someone about asking persistently about the Takata, but man, I wish we were driving that car!

I haven't struggled with a car this much since the Neon SRT-4 in NYC, which was my second week in WRS, and it was the very first time I ever drove a FF car in GT4. A 550hp FF car, nonetheless. That thing was a pig if I've ever seen one.

If the SRT-4 was a true pig, then these NSX's must be snakes. They will turn around and bite you any chance they get. :ouch:

Although Todd did not get back to me yet with about my qualifying time (everybody deserves to sleep!) :) , I just gave it a shot last night after struggling my way out of Pro Hall (nice ending movie, BTW). And I must say I must practice A LOT... my T times:

Mobil 1 using R5/R5 - TCS On (just tired of spinning on the way out of turns)

T1 - 33.699
T2 - 1.06.509

I know it is laughable... I need to tune my ride properly and improve my tangency... specially in sector 2.

Z.
Ok.. for the first 30 minutes or so, I hated this week with a passion already. Better than the FF of last week (no offense, Kent, just not what I am good at driving), though. Then again, I had only tested the Raybrig so far. Had a go with all of these NSXs the other night at El Capitan and preferred the Raybrig's handling there, but I guess it's a completely different story at GVS. I didn't even have to start tuning the Mobil 1 to realize its superiority over the Raybrig (all other models remain untested as of this post).

Anyhow, splits are like this:

T1: 0'30.778 (seen 0'30.568)
T2: 0'59.921

P.S. I find the tranny trick to be *very helpful this week.

Z., can you post your car settings?! 💡

Ok, i tried em all...

I hate em all...

I found the 01's to be quicker as did everyone else....

I want to know:

If everyone is using the two 01's, why do we need weight ballast?

Why not change the race for this week, have just the two colour schemes to choose from (loctite and mobil) and get rid of that weight crap.

Im finding i cant get my head round the cars tendency to do one thing one corner, then change its mind for the next, and do the opposite.

Bah!:grumpy:

Not enjoying it.

I am enjoying chips returning.
:dopey:👍

and i will be enjoying next weex race more than this weex.... but until someone explains how to stop this car from being $hite and tells me the answer isnt to stick the ride height up and lower the spring rate and roll bar stiffness, which sacrifices my high speed cornering, i wont be enjoying this combo at all.

Balls, if you posted the solution, i havent read the whole thread, so i apologise in advance, could anyone tell the world what to do with this Honda that i DONT like, or am i sitting out again?

👎:grumpy:

I'd better add, how the hell is anyone going to tell whether we have applied the ballast or not from a replay file?

hmmmm?? :irked:

yes, that´s the same thing i was thinking...

and i´m almost sure you can´t tell, so that´s why (and also the fact that the ballast is a piece o c***) that i think we didn´t need ballast weight... it´s something totally artificial...

If the idea was to make all the cars even...Why don't we just add more wieght to the two 01's.....How hard can that be...

I mean, the point of ballast was to put all the cars on an even playing field, what's so hard with say, changing this weeks ballast to say100 or 130 instead of 70?

Their isn't as many people racing lately, so everyone who submits a time probably reads these threads pretty much every day anyway.

You could make a sticky, or do whatever it is you mods do!

well its CFM's decision, and basically what he says goes.... personally i dont see the point of ballast as everyone will be driving the '01 cars anyway, but i dont really care if it remains the way it is as i have just come to terms with the car.

I think there will be more people racing this week than last week...

Vexd, I can't quite make out what you're saying, but if you like stiff stuff, here's some MAD stiffness... Moving the ballast forward will reduce the car's tendency to snap around so suddenly at the expense of more understeer of course. I still need to do some tuning with the LSD and more suspension tuning as well I assume to get rid of the understeer that I'm getting.

Oh, can't forget to mention that it's going to probably understeer even more for you... I did the chassis refresher and it made the car a lot worse, it wasn't that bad when the car needed the refresher.

Springs 17/19.6
Ride height between 46-52, haven't looked into it much yet
Bound 8/8
Rebound 10/10
camber stock
toe stock
sways 5/6

LSD settings when I stopped were at 8/8/8 but there's lots to play around with there I think, maybe anyway...

Brakes 3/3
Ballast placement -23
Full downforce
Gear trick being able to hit 203mph+

I think this race is tops! The ballast doesn't overly matter, just keep it centrally mounted, and I also had some initial probs with the car slip-sliding around but I'm getting the hang of it. I've had a T2 of 1'01.7xx a few times now (without finishing the lap though...sigh!) and here's some things I've found useful:

1) Brake in a straight line, pretty obvious I guess but super-important in this car
2) You can use the steering as soon as you're in 3rd, from 3rd gear down it responds quite well to steering with the accelerator.
3) If the back is about to pop, change down a gear and hit the accelerator
4) If you want to force it around a corner, change down a gear

I'm no pro but I'm getting around the track with much less difficulty than I did when I started and I've got no TCS on. The splits for my current clean lap are

T1: 0'31.644
T2: 1'02.330

I'm determined to cut a full 2-3 seconds off my current lap before I'm done since I've barely touched the settings. It's a twitchy car but it's a fun car to drive, excellent combo this week 👍

yes, maybe we overreacted, it´s still a great combo 👍 specially because there´s so much room for improvement... right now i´m running with 1´00´9xx T2 splits, still haven´t found the best setup... its not all about the ballast, the car is a little twichy...

but i didn´t like to put the weight in front... can´t make turns at full speed... (the section before the big turn that leads to T1 is a good example of that)

but, i´m still hoping for a low 59 at the T2 before this week ends... :dopey:

What's that?! You can take that uphill right left section before the hairpin at full throttle without the weight towards the front of the car? Hmm, I have an idea for something...

CFM, Kent and the powers that be...
I've been watching KLR142 race lately (room-mate) and he's ready for D2. 👍

Gave this combo a short try last night (somewhere in the high 1'00.xxx at T2) and it is a fun challenge to try to keep on the track.
