Well I just got my DFP and it has helped me enormously ... I've shaved SECONDS off my times without a doubt (don't get excited ... sucky-seconds=less sucky). Personally, and - shoot - I'm the lowest of the low, but I'm not using any aids, I rarely do unless torque is so insane that I can't stop the wheels spinning, but here it doesn't seem to be an issue.
@Teledriel, you and I are probably in the same ball park, so while I should probably leave the advise to those who can really drive, I'd like to throw in my 2 cents.
First, coming off the LAST corner is crucial for a fast straight and therefore getting to the first corner as quickly as possible. I know that this may be stating the obvious, but if you take half a second more to get there, then you're already down on your time compared to everyone else.
Personally, I hit that final corner in 4th and I'm upping to 5th before I enter the straight ... it can require precise control to ensure that you don't run off onto the straight grass ... look at the marks on the road and follow them, don't make the turn into the straight too soon, because it'll 'point' you towards the outside of the track and you won't make the straight.
If you have to decelerate here, or let off the gas, or you're not in 5th during the final part of the curve, then you're not hitting it right and you're not going to be as fast as you should be along the straight.
As I'm approaching the 1st curve I'm pretty much border-line maxing out the revs and about to hit the limiter (I'm running a max speed of 330). I hit the brakes, fairly hard, as I draw level with the rumble strip on the right ... not as I hit the dark patch on the road, because this car brakes fast and you'll brake too soon I think ... but just after. I could be wrong here, so take what I say with apinch of salt, but I'm running sub 20's T1, so I must be getting close to running it right.
So brake stiffly as you get close ot the rumble strip on the right and experiment a little with this ... too late and you'll run off, too soon and now you're going too slow through the corner.
The corner - to me - is made up from two corners really, a sharp 90 degree right followed by a soft right you should be accelerating through. It's all about timing, brake sharp, head into the 90 degree turn and don't hit the gas tooooooo soon, or you'll be dragged off (in my experience), but the micro-second that you're through the 90, hit the gas hard and be turning towards the softer part of the curve.
It's a manic corner, in my opinion, fast in, hard brake, strong turn and then split second timing for getting back on the gas. But don't forget that this corner is - in many ways - linked to the straight, so make sure that you're running this part as fast as possible.
Lord, look at all of that coming from the girl bringing up the rear, but I felt capable of at least commenting, because I've brought my time down from where you're running to the 19.8 mark and I feel fairly comfortable shaving off another two tenths in the next few days.
I'd love to here from someone else on this one, too.
