GT4 WRS Week 2: CFM's "Cherry Pop"

Remember, to tune a car's gearing one uses the following procedure :

1. Top gear must be set to shortest possible to reach highest top speed on longest straight on circuit (always measure on longest straight).
2. And 1st gear must be short enough for tighest turn on the circuit, then all the other gears must be spaced in between these 2 settings.

Yeah, that's what you would find in the "racing for dummies" book if it existed.
There's no such settings in Arcade mode, because you can only set the final drive of the gearbox, not the gears one by one (GT Mode will be another thing).
I'll try the 330 km/h settings, though I'll probably reach the limiter at the end of the straight. It might help getting a few hundreths in the tight corners exits.

wat are your braking points into the 1st corner? The first corner is obiously the quickest way to shave a few tenths, though i can only manage a T1 at 19.9
i take the long Right hander in 4th all the way, and a brief stint in 5th before braking into the left. Is anyone else using 3rd all the way through the chicane?

Drop to 2nd for the chicane entry, then to third for a nano-second then back to 2nd for the left hander, then third as you pull towards the right, then hit 4th as you leave the chicane area.

Slow in-Fast out.

If i were you, i'd aim to hit the gravel on the first corner, hitting 2nd just before you do, then floor it.

this may be a dumb question, but do u guys play with TCS on or off on this car? i always have problems with the higher HP cars with TCS off

The braking point using the DFP is just a second after the dark black part on the track ...

Get a max drive, they are relatively cheap, and work like a big memory card that is compatible only with ps2, and PC.

About your lap 'from Mars'.... I was wondering who that was a few tenths up the road from me I used the DS2 for my times so far, despite the fact I have a DFP as well... just not as quick with the DFP yet, but will give it a bash later....

edit: just bought a Max Drive...! No excuses anymore....

i think i got the most out of this track!!!!

i did around 20 laps in total and on the 13th and 14th i got my best ever times

Time to get myself on this leaderboard….I had time to run a 10 lap session and these are the T times of my cleanest, fastest lap.

T1 = 19.773
T2 = 38.595
T3 = 59.339

I’ve been placed in Division 3, and I’m currently using a “Driving Force” wheel. And that would be the older one, Not the new “Pro” version all you guys can afford….So is that just a “DF” ???

Now after floating threw some of this thread I strongly believe I can shave some time off during my next 10 lap session…My plan is to run No more then 40 laps on any race….If I can’t get a combo down by then, I’ll have to hope the next race suites me better. I’m still playing the game and don’t want to spend an enormous amount of time on these races, So I’ve broke it down to 4 separate 10 lap sessions for the week, To better suit my lifestyle…Kudo’s out to everyone who has the time to practice these combos for long periods of time….Practice, will only make one better…

I used 330 this afternoon. Felt good. Didn't hit the limiter at the end of the straight and I was able to hold 5th through the sweeping right before the first hairpin. I'm sure with some cleanup of the rest of the lap this should help me get my times down further...

I did do a lap where I went into the 0'37s in T2 but spun out of the exit of the first hairpin after clipping the rumble strip. Damn that cursed rumbly strippy thing!

1st corner im around 322 km/h and i start braking at the start of the rumbles on the right side of the track, i then shift all the way down to 2nd and do the turn...

other section i gear down to gear 2 for the tight hairpin

and for the last chicane area, 3rd gear for the first right, then 2nd for the left hairpin, and then 4th at the right kink

o yea im default 340km/h top speed

I seem to be within a few tenths with a lot of you guys. This week I'm gonna move up several slots in Div.2. Last week I didn't start to try the race until 10:00PM Sun. night, 2 hours of running! Ran 2 hours last night for this weeks race and 2 today and shaved 2 full seconds. Just gotta tell ya why I didn't race last week,
i know nobody wants to hear about it ,but you know how it is when you buy a new car, ya just gotta tell people about it. Bought a 1970 Chevy Malibu Chevelle.It's 98% fully restored from body off. I get to do the last few fun percents like putting on emblems,a bit of chrome,detailing ,sound system, and some dash work.. It's got a crate 350HO (330 HP), with a blueprinted (to the engine)Holly 4 barrel, headers, high rise manifold, Flow Masters and a 373 posi rear, factory air and factory 4 on the floor. Dark metalic green, dark green interior all new( original repos).Sold my vitage guitar collection to help finance. Great, great fun, oh yeah, it came with 3 trophys from last Dec. Thanks for letting me go on.

I have a question for you NTSC-J version owners. I am wanting to get a replay device for the WRS. What is the best one to get? I could only seem to find the Action Replay 2 v2 for the Japanese version. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Would the Max Drive work on my japanese playstation 2?
