cant be done flat out...

-you have to use the x-tra lil space on the right for a split second
-lift off the throttle for half a second
-turn in

I beg to Differ. I have taken flat out. I always get right next to the right hand wall, and yeah use that little space for a bit, then whip it in getting two wheel on the red stuff ever so close to the left wall, then for me the back end stepped out a bit over the bump when you hit the apex, and got mighty close to wall on the way out.

I assume your using R5s both ends? With 230 Gears? I'm also using the white one...

(Also, I havn't tried, but it probably could be taken flat with ASM on :P )

After about 20 laps (plus a few more, I suppose...)

T1: 14.291
T2: 42.748

Fantastic combo CFM, I remember testing the Renault 5 (same idea as Clio V6) around Opera and loving it. The Clio is great fun to drive. 👍

Regarding the kink in the back straight, I'm not sure it can be taken flat but it would be pretty close. I generally just keep my foot down and left foot brake lightly for a moment (say 20% brake), turn in at the 50 m board. The fastest I've been through there is about 210 km/h.
Casio, you'll probably find that h0tb0i is carrying a bit more speed onto the back straight, therefore arriving at the kink at a higher speed necessitating the slight lift through it.

The other interesting spot is the narrow right/left just before the tight hairpin (turn 8-9?). I'm curious to know how people are attacking it. I can't decide whether to be smooth or to just throw the car into the left...scandinavian style.

What are your thoughts?

just watched my replay, and for the left fast kink

i turn in at 216km/h ~ no brakes needed

hey since i cant really do a lap rundown
~ any1 who wants my ghost lap, just send me a PM with ur e-mail adress ~

I've also taken it flat out, once or twice, but not anywhere consistant enough to try it on a lap that's going well.I always try it on a blown lap. On good laps I just let up a bit and sort of throw it around, never brake!

@ Wiz and Vexd:

I agree with the above. Started out using 230 at the suggestion of hOt, found it pretty good. Tried less than that and you redline before the end of the straight so...230 km/h it is.

That's exactly what I did as well.
Sometimes hOt's gearing works well for me, other times (like last week at Laguna), it doesn't.

I find 230 works pretty well for this combo, so I am sticking with it.

Very nice combo! 👍 I seem to be getting very eractic times (five second differences when I started). So far the best lap I got is:

T1: 14.5xx (seen a 14.1xx)
T2: 43.2xx (seen 42.9xx, ONCE)

I'm still figuring out how to take the first chiacane.Anyway first session numbers

14.498
43.093

14.498

After trying MANY times, I realized that at a certain angle (I can't remember) you can take the chicane at full throttle in fourth gear with little turning. I did, out of luck, get the angle just right so I went through full throttle, no turning.

Well I have new splits but they're far from the top Div 2'ers:

T1: 0'14.426
T2: 0'43.561

I just don't get how I'm losing so much from T1-T2?

veilsidebr managed about 26.5 seconds from T1 - T2, most people are managing 28.0 - 29.0 seconds but I'm struggling to get near 29.0 seconds??? There's about 0.5 of obvious improvement but I can't figure out where. I let B-Spec Bob do a few laps to see his line and I'm near or better than him?

Gonna be another long week for me to be competitive I suspect :indiff:

New splits, dipped below a section mark, looking for the next one by the end of the week.

T1 - 14.302
T2 - 42.680

I am loving this week, brings back memorys of week 16 or 17, with the R32.

Loosing time everywhere as usual :ouch:

14.348
42.350

Hopeing to see nearly 1 second improvement.

Damn these walls and dips. I'm just getting eaten alive by them as the splits will tell you . . .

T1: 14.068 (awesome)
T2: 42.559 (not so much)

I shave about a tenth on every lap.. kinda weird and frustrating at the same time. Not shaping up to be a good week for me. :indiff:

@Small Fryz: Not a huge deal, but somewhere along the line I got switched to a DFP. Could you switch me back to a DS2, please?

.059 improvement

0'14.026 (slow...)
0'41.352

.132 improvement ^

dont know how much more i can squeez

but i figured out 2nd gear was better then 3rd for the hairpin, leadin to the straight
:dunce:

Bah
:grumpy:

Im having all sorts of times, but none of them beat the lap i did 10 laps in on the first day!

humph.

Good luck all of you.

I like the way 230 gearing keeps you stuck to the floor, and i know it runs out just when you need to brake hotboi, but i find 240 gives me a smoother car and a faster T1, and i can squeeze a few extra MPH out of it before i need to brake for the end of the straight, like 144MPH on 240 gears as opposed to 141MPH on 230 gears.

Cheerio.

Well I beat my lap by 0.4:

T1: 0'14.323
T2: 0'43.291

But this is still mid/low Div 2...each week ya'll pump out killer splits right off the bat, it takes me ages to compete. Kudos to you all 👍

Not sure exactly where I'm losing time but hopefully I'll find another 0.5 before T2 and I'm hoping for another 0.1 - 0.3 from T2-Finish.

New splits from last night

T1-'14.362
T2-'43.654
I only gained a tenth though on my overall lap time.

I am looking for another .2 to .3 on T1 and .5 to .6 on T2.

Tried for an hour and couldnt beat my 'bottom of div 2' time! lol, im gonna go run the qualifier and see if ive improved since i joined the wrs!!!

Cold CFM or Kent pls PM me the qualifier times??

Hi Guys and gals (greetings to the return of Cass!! 👍 )

Have fixed my brain-fart of a numbering system on the track map, plus changed the colour of the numbers so they are easier to see!

Look!

Sorry to all that it took so long but had a very hectic day yesterday and a busy morning today.

Gonna put some laps down in a short while.

Neil

brake early, then floor it in 4th clip the rumble and jump a bit, then jump the next rumble then you can either take this next right flat or you can tap the brakes a bit or even just lift off a tad. try to either run your wheels on the rumble so you miss the big bump or run a bit wide. Just avoiding that bump can mean tenths to your time, try not to get bogged down in it or get thrown around, you have to sort of skim over it.

fourth gear, and set up for each following turn coming out of the previous, brake early, power through for the first one, then before you need to start turning left, brake again to line you up correctly, then power through around the next right. At least that's how I'm doing it...

edit: what ^he^ said too

New splits from me!

Done about 25 laps and managed these, which i am quite chuffed with.......so far!

230 speed limit, rss/rss

T1 14.471
T1 42.854

Over 1.5 seconds better than my previous best and good for second in div 2 (as off the board, actually 3rd i think)
and only 1.5ish behind Hot! Now i know what second barrier he crossed that pleased him so much! LOL
I'm only 1.6s away, maybe another days improvements like this and i'll get there!

WELL HAPPY!

Neil

p.s.

I agree with little_chips and KLR, but without the braking in the middle.
Brake early, stay in fourth, set up the right line, and then BTTW right the way through till snicking 5th as you straighten up at the exit just missing the barriers on the left!

@Hot
Have been using 2nd for turn 12 (hairpin-left before the straight) and snicking 3rd early as poss between the 'pin and the right onto the straight, right from the beginning of the week. Seems to give better accel on to the straight.

Now not breaking for the kink, lift off at BLACK post before the 50m marker, bttw AT 50m marker. Taking it at 128-130mph/205-208kmh, and breaking at the end of run AFTER the bump and just hitting the limiter.

It looks like I'm going to have a lot of time this weekend, seeing as the hurricane's going to keep me inside all day. Which is good because I need a ton of practice this week.

@Luxy…Casio and I are in Div. 2 now. If it's too difficult to change then don't worry about it. I'm pretty sure everyone knows anyways.
