Mr P
There's something about Suby Rally cars that just grab my attention 👍

.. and a Memorial race for Richard Burns is a fitting way of showing Respect for a Great Sportsman 👍

Glad to run this round! .. and cool to see some old pals still haunting the place :P
Nice to see you here Ron.

Saw this & couldn't resist. A great combo & very fitting tribute to a fabulous driver.

....I will be needing to use the Infinate Improbability Drive to even get this weeks ride, battling on Chamonix reverse..... Perhaps I should have a "really hot cup of tea" and keep trying.
And Hitchhiker's Guide references! Too good to be true! Don't forget to turn on the atomic vector plotter and bambleweeny 57 sub-meson brain before you have that tea Steve57!

Ran the qualifier last night, and it looks like I'll be joining in the middle of the pack in Div 2, and I use the original blue DF wheel. I'll only be taking part in the odd arcade mode race at the moment, due to lack of cars & cash for sim mode races.

Haven't had too mush experience with viewing replays in GT4, so I have a quick question. Is it possible to pause a replay to see your split time without the damned thing jumping into photomode? :yuck:

It's pretty annoying. Also is it possible to view your replay in the analyser mode like it was in GT3 to see things in slo-mo? The replay instruction manual for GT4 is about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike, and as informative as the instructions on a packet of airline peanuts!

So far I have a clean lap with:-

T1 15.946
T2 35.584
T3 1'03.096

It's a tad sideways in the chevronned bend after the straight which probably cost me a few 1/10ths.

....i salute you and your honour towards two British drivers, all be it one of them was scottish....
And since when has a Scotsman not been British too? :sly:
(Although none of them or any Welshmen will ever admit it, Great Britain consists of England, Scotland and Wales!)

I just realized that my "may he rest with kings" comment might not have gone over well with the nations who had kings in the past. :guilty:
My bad, I meant it only in a good way.

Thing is,
Once I've become sentimental about a subject my writing will change.
In this case I made a refference to a Poem by an American Romantic named Bryant.
The poem was "Thanatopsis" (which means something like "meditations on death").

In the poem he gets into all this jazz about a great power (not necessarily a "God").
At one point he says that we all return to the earth and lay with the Kings of old (along with all these other noble figures).
It shows that we are all equal in death but it can also mean that we all carry honor and esteem into the grave.

Read the poem, figure it out for youself. :P

Just got home from my Algebra class so no new times for me.
Hope to get some racing done a little later this afternoon or maybe tonight... Regardless, good luck to everyone.

Btw, T13R...
I think there was a 500hp and 3.0 pwr limit that week. ;)
I think the R-tune was running about 450 hp and 3.0 pwr. :D
(roughly)

No, but I've found that if you just let it run the split is up long enough to scribble it down.

JIMB
All right here is the best i can do after 15 or 20 laps
T1:17.129
T2:38.631
T3:1'07.061
that not to bad for me i suck at this game!!! 👍

Welcome back JIMB ;)

And don't worry about your splits ... my car is right behind you at the moment ... we're both clearly on the wrong line :P

Sorry Koly, here's what I could muster thus far:

T1: 0'16.200
T2: 0'36.180
T3: 1'03.634

Later

That must have been a different race. I never really liked pwr races, or races where you can use different cars. Normally I don't do well at those. I was a little nostalgic earlier on and did a search for the old weekly race series stuff, and here's a link to what week 28 was and results.

I actually read through both those threads and I must say, I need to excuse myself for having behaved like a little kid, sort of ranting even. That's not really the kind of person I am, and I think I've matured quite a lot more since, as well as better understanding the humour of some people I wasn't quite catching back then.

Btw, Koly im on a DFP now:D

:D

Not a DS2;)

Dam its close down on D3, most divisions but D3 in particular. no improvements today from me.

Just finished some laps for the afternoon... Looks like I will not be able to do anymore for now since I must leave for my night class in a bit.

However, I improved my time by a nice margin. 👍

15.9
35.3
1'02.6 (low I believe)

Looks like 1'02.3 is in it for me this week if I stick with it... If I bust my tail there may even be 1'02.0 but that's pushing it about as fast as I can go (especially for this track).

Great combo though. 👍

Btw, what's everyone's fav subby?
Mine:
1) 2003 Rally Car. :mischievous:
2) 1999 Rally Car 👍
3) Tie: 22b or '02 sti type II :P
( I still love the black-outs on the head lights of this car though :D )

Wow, what a turn out this week. I'll more pumped about this race than anything else since we last went to trial mountain.

It seems the taller ratio's are giving better times (Or more likely, I just suck), so I'm really going to have to give that a go today.

What's the recomendation? Fasj is using 260, Fryz is using 240, Kent is using 300 and T13R is using 250! It's just confusing, I might have to go 280 or something, just to be different.

Hmm, heres my faves Kent.

1: 01 rally car
2: 03 rally cat
3: WRX STi 02
4: WRX STi 99
5: Prodrive style 01
6: Cusco Impreza JGTC

Cusco...!!!
How could I have forgot? :ouch:

Definately take the '02sti/'9922b tie off my list and put the cusco in there. ;)

Also, I'm not sure if I did or not so don't take this the wrong way...
But I don't think I said I was using 300kph gearing.

I suppose I could have but really, I don't remember.

Regardless of what I said, my ratios for 1'02.6?? were at the stock (260) setting.
Didn't even think to adjust the top speed because I was in a rush to get the racing started. :sly:

My suggestion for you is to go with stock ratios and then evaluate where and how you are shifting.
Just getting the right gears for each turn can make a huge difference when you are running this race car ( Stock: 295hp, 347 torque).
Early shifting may actually help this week, not sure though.

Also, be really carefull about sliding.
If your tires smoke or you start loosing grip, you are slowing down.

Try to do what T13R mentioned and stick to braking in a straight line.
That will keep your power sliding in check. 👍

Good luck.
I'm off to school now, back in about 4 hours.
Till next time,
-

New splits:

T1: 17.118 (I have got a 16.8 once)
T2: 37.248 (Still having trouble with this sector)
T3: 1'05.242 (Probably my favourite sector right now.)

cool combo flat-out, will give it some time tonight, the track is pretty much glued to my brain!

GTrackd02
well
I improved a bit...still a slo-poke though:)
t-1 16.534
t-2 36.091
t-3 1'03.711

What the hell does that make me then?

VTRacing
First of all, we're running this race in Arcade mode, which equals no nitrous.

Second, when we do run in GT Mode the use of nitrous is either allowed or not. So far it has not been allowed at all (though that will change in week 36 I understand) so if a car shows up on a replay with NOS installed the time is disqualified.

Thought I'd given the caveat that the nitrous exploit would be limited to GT Mode. I did notl my bad.

My point with it being allowed or not is that the 'rule' as it's was presented this week is that the only thing that counts towards disqualification is what happens between the start & finish line. Cutting a chicane normally would be disallowed, but as long as it happens in the run-up, it's okay.

Just to make it clear, I don't condone this since I do believe it's not in the spirit of the competition.

Completely stuffed up the left hander after the back straight, not happy at all...

T1 - 15.886
T2 - 35.411
T3 - 1'02.971

this is just like the week he had the altezza, you run 30 minutes each day just to get an extra 0´1.

small improvment:

T1 - 15´702
T2 - 35´213 :yuck:
T3 - 1´02´321

but the finish was superb, so i took 0´211 from my last save 👍

i lost a lap in which a had 15´502 at T1 :banghead:
also saw a few 34´xxx so there´s something left...
maybe 0´5 would be my final limit...

about the gears, i ran with 240, 250, 260, 270 and 300. and i can´t see any major difference in those... i think depends on your driving style...

can´t wait to see what the top guys will do... i just hope they don´t get a low 1´01... that would be unreal...

im fresh off GC #15

so heres my splits after 6 laps, on 260 gearing

0'15.704 ( seen 0'15.5xx )
0'34.964
1'01.877

nice time so far fasj~

Like the longer gearing for my driving, 280. ran 3 laps and bettered each lap.
I'm slowly climbing to mediocracy.
16.091 worse
35.943
1'03.235 better....go figure, I got some work to do.

New times.

T1 - 16.099
T2 - 35.511
T3 - 1'02.706

Another .5 and I'll be happy.

T13R, I've been using 250 gearing as well.

Kent
Early shifting may actually help this week, not sure though.-
I know that it's slower to rev it out, but shifting right at/before redline is definitely faster. That's one of the reasons why I stopped using 240 gearing, because it would carry less speed up the hill on the back straight than 250 gearing. I'll probably try 260 and 300 gearing when I get a chance again. Probably tomorrow night, maybe during the day if it snows!(and it's too much to drive through that is... *fingers crossed*)

Curtis, nice to see a 1'01 put down, smokin!

Casio
New times...

Another .5 and I'll be happy.

Got it, now i want another .5, I'm so greedy....

T1 - 15.794 👍 (Saw a 15.62x 👎 )
T2 - 35.253
T3 - 1'02.412

Using 240 Gears

This is the best WRS ever, I've never put so much time and effort into a race, and there is still 5 days to go! :dopey:

Update:

T1: 15.891
T2: 35.161
T3: 1'02.256

Meh....threw away a perfectly good 34.7xx pushing too hard on the sweeper. Seen several low 15.6's, but can't hold the line. Another .5 at T2, and I'll be happy. :)

Good God look at the times thrown down in a little over a day! I don't think there is quite enough track to accommodate 15 wide through the turns! It's starting to look like a NASCAR event.

New splits from last night. I would have posted them then but my service provider is being a butt.

T1: 0:16.346 (I somehow managed to get a 15:8 and haven't touched it since :grumpy: )
T2: 0:35.890
T3: 1:03.405

BTW Kent, how's everything coming at home? Things getting back to normal?
