BTW Kent, how's everything coming at home? Things getting back to normal?

Well thanks for asking.

Sorta, but no, not really. :(

At my house we have all of our old stuff back- cable tv, phone lines, electricity.
We even got our new roof on the house finally. đź‘Ť

However, my house still has a ton of work left to be done...

The city is even worse and to try describing it is rediculus. :banghead:
This entire area will probably be in recovery for atleast another year or so.

I can't even tell you just how crazy things are out there.

Basically, the "essentials" are back (power, water, etc etc), but the area is still recovering. đź‘Ž :(

Worst of all is the fact that I'm down here in Louisiana where everyone thinks they deserve a hand-out. :indiff:

The people of this state have even gone so far as to demand the Feds rebuild the levees (they claim the feds should have done it long ago).

In my opinion it will be the attitude that made new orleans famous that also makes sure we are in recovery for years and years. :(
Lazy, ignorant, buttheads. :irked:

So that's how it's going down here. :dopey:
How about we say "that's enough of that and move on"!

Nothing new from me.
I did a few runs last night and saw 1'02.4 but never had a clean run on that T set that would beat my current 1'02.6. :(
With luck I will have the time and heart to keep running but for now I'm not sure if there will be any more improvements from me.

Catch you all again later,
Till next time,
-

Hey Koly ,you seemed to have forgotten me on your last update so here they are again.
16.091 worse
35.943
1'03.235 better....go figure, I got some work to do.

NOOOO!!!!! How did i manage it? i dont know...Will it ever happen again? I doubt it.....How annoyed am i? Very!!!!

t1-15.849
t2-55.132
t3-1.02.1!!!
them messed up on the chicane!!! its the easiest corner for ducks sake!!!

Best WRS ever? Who said that?!

Heh, actually, it is a DAMN fine event. What a relaxing drive! The car, save for the snap oversteer on monkeyfootbraking, has great handling and is a joy to drive. The legacy track is wonderful. Nothing really new to learn, just drive. Slow and steady hands like Kent mentioned is key, as is a smooth, subtle left foot braking.

I could drive this course and car all day! All about rhythm and momentum.

So, for the leaderboard after an hour at 260/RSS/RSS:

T1 16.436 (got LOADS of time to make up here...)
T2 36.171 (getting better)
T3 1'03.397 (not bad considering the start)

Gonna be a fun weekend I foresee...

Ugh, what a PITA. I spent almost all of last night trying to win this weeks car. Finally got that done and took the car for a few laps. I couldn't get a clean lap in for almost 45 minutes. I think I got so frustrated on the ice that I just couldn't get into the groove. I took a break and then raced some slower cars on some easier tracks. When I got back into the Subaru I finally got some clean laps done. I used to think I was pretty good on this track, but my splits say something else. I noticed that even with RSS / RSS this car really likes to swing the tail out under heavy braking and downshifting. I might try some harder tires on the front to try to make it more neutral, but I don't think I'm going to have enough time to get this car sorted out by Tuesday :(

Here are the splits from my best lap so far
(I think the top speed was set at 260)

T1 17.932
T2 39.348
T3 1:07.757

I Lived in Lake Charles for 6 years and have friends in New Orleans: Why should the feds not help out and rebuild the levees?

You're kidding, right? :ouch: I'm really, really, really struggling with this combo ... it has to be my worst ... EVER. Can't handle the car, can't figure out the track, can't get my times down and certainly don't find it relaxing!!!

Still no entry from me ... there might not be

 Know what you mean, the car keeps on snapping out on the corner just after T3, really annoying I must have had about 10 clean laps at most and I have spent about 2 hours on this event so far.

But it is a tribute to Richard Burns, so I will keep on truckin'.

SO funny how one person's pleasure cruise is another's nightmare! I LOVE the way this thing handles and I think the rear is nicely weighted towards rotational direction control. LOVE IT!

I was wishing for GT mode, but this car and track is pretty well suited to my driving style, even though I'm not within a second of the leaders yet...

Later!

Try not to brake while turning : that causes the grip loss and makes the car spin around.
Brake first and when your speed is reduced enough turn your wheels.

Yeah, if you haven't learned to brake before turning (lesson#1) , then you will driving this combo!!

Some improvement here, still seem to be giving away masses of time in the 3rd sector though. Any hints?

T1 15.940
T2 35.484
T3 1'02.820

For the corner just before T3 line, brake as late as possible. There is a load of time there, you should be braking just after you clear the crest, I find it helps if you give it a little slide so you don't understeer into the wall on the left. That and the left hand sweeper are the only real turns in the third sector.

Not much improvement but improvement none the less:

T1: 16:354
T2: 36:003
T3: 1'03:555

Definitely want to brake staying in a straight line and carry as much speed through the turns as possible...how some of you folks are turning sub 16's by T1 is just beyond me!

As Casio's mentioned, when it comes to T3, you wanna brake as late as possible. What I'm finding that works for me is to stay on the outside right portion of the lane and as I cross the red line that is just past the T3 time indicator...brake hard but not enough to get the tires smoking..then as soon as the backend 'snaps' around, off the brakes and onto the gas and come out just a shade to the left of the far right rumble strip...

Using 290 gear ration with RSS tires...290 & 300 are just about right for me, with no one particular setting providing a HUGE advantage over the other!

Heading out of town tomorrow morning, so I'll not have time to get back in the drivers seat until Monday! :(

Cheers!

Just hit a 15.895 first sector...got so excited I crashed on the next turn......rookie!

Latest entry in my note book of times:

WRS 34 - Trial Mountain

"I hate this car, it seems to have the turning circle of a spoon. (The kitchen appliance.)"

I know its my fault but its just so annoying at the same time!

Started off great, but got more and more understeer as i got faster.

Kolyana, DFP not DS2:D

I can't pass up a tribute race for one of the best Rally drivers there was.
T1/ 15.836
T2/ 35.427 I've seen many in the 35.3's
T3/ 1:02.805 Ran a few 1'02.7's

The car takes a little getting used to but its fun to drive! Nice race Flat out. đź‘Ť

New splits

16.331
36.218
1'04.116

Only slight improvements, but baby steps.

Getting close to my limits now, it takes 20-30 laps to get even these slight improvements.

Took a break and did some pickup racing for a laugh, and then killed a load of strogg scum.

Back to the laps tomoz, maybe.

Hmmm... I think this may be because you're new to the GT series with GT4, so you don't have the HUGE background that a lot of us do from the previous versions of GT... I've always liked this track as well. Haven't had another go at it yet, time constraints and my steenking hands hurt after coming home from work wrenching all day long... And then after work sometimes and sometimes on the weekend, I'll go wrench some more!(on more fun things though of course đź‘Ť ).

I'll squeeze something in here soon, I hope.

Sad but true! Nor GT2 or 1, lol. I used to love braking late though, now I'm STILL learning to brake earlier and going through the turns smoother and at higher speeds and getting back on the gas earlier. Dunno if I'll ever learn.

UPDATE

T1: 15.665
T2: 35.023
T3: 1'01.835

It was a great lap. Lost .3 total. All between T1 and T2. The rest was perfect. Well.......for right now anyway. :sly: :P

Thanks for the advice about not braking in the turns. I know this, but I still want to wait to the last possible moment, sometimes I downshift just as I start to turn in. I have been more vigilant in my braking, but it seems that it still likes to oversteer, not that there is anything wrong with that :) , just have to keep it under control. I tried it with RS up front and RSS in the rear and it took a while to get used to that. It didn't feel better, but instead of worrying about oversteer I was dealing with what felt like a lot of understeer. Probably wasn't that bad, but you could really tell the difference back to back. I went back to RSS front and rear and improved my times a bit. First couple of times back to these tires I would turn in too early and smack the walls on the inside of the turns. :dunce:

Here are my latest splits:

T1 17.650 (I could probably shave .5 hear just by being more confident in the handling)
T2 38.380 (not much to improve on here, but still not perfect)
T3 1:06.564

I have a quick question, I am pretty sure that the paved area between the 2nd and 3rd tunnel and after the back straight with the yellow lines through it count as part of the track, but I want to be absolutely sure.

Thanks all

From T1 onwards I seem to be on track but up to T1...I suck!

T1: 0'16.618
T2: 0'36.055
T3: 1'03.239

I do have a better lap but I'm unsure of this part of the track:

Is this clean or unclean?

...how some of you folks are turning sub 16's by T1 is just beyond me!

T1 isn't a problem for me.
I'm running, by all accounts a somewhat unusual setup, of 320kph top speed.
However, I'm finding it easier to hit consistent sub-16s at T1, & as low as high 15.7s, from the beginning of the "warm-up" lap, crossing the line at around 136mph after a restart, than I am after a flying lap crossing the line at 140 - 141mph!
Thing is, I'm then losing the time on the backstraight & 2 bends before T3, & I'm unsure if it's because of the shallower gearing, or because I've never been good at the backend of this course, where things can easily be buggered up by a moment's indecision! :ouch:

Where in CA are you? It's a big place, but I live there too! Chances are I'm within....I dunno....600 miles of you!!!!! ;)

Hi All WRS racers,

I have not been able to compete in the last two events :nervous: , due to family commitments, however I am finding some time for this weeks worthy tribute to Richard Burns.

I am actually really enjoying this one and feel a little more competitive than in previous weeks (which is why I have not bothered to post splits before!).

Using RSS with no aids and 300kmh gearing my best spluts so far are:

T1 16.819
T2 36.732
T3 1'04.025

Should have more time to do some more laps this pm as have a day of work :) and my daughter will be at school.

Hi all, would be really interested in taking part on this thread, but unfortunately i only have web and computer access from work.

Would anyone mind if i joined in, in an unofficial aspect and post times, etc.

I understand if you would prefer me not to, as obviously i have no means to prove my times, So what do you all think?

PS RIP. Richard Burns great driver very sad to hear.

I assume there would be no problem. But why not run the qualifier and become an OFFICIAL member :P

ok...times....im annoyed by this week. It one of my favourite ever, but its so frustrating. I can see very fast splits, just not clean, and all together.

t1- seen 15.5
t2- seen 34.9 from 15.7, so possible 34.7
t3- seen 1.02.1 from 35.1, possible 1.01.7
end - seen amazing but dirty - possible second faster!!

also im using manual for a change this week. More to concerntrate on than usual. Good for me that it doesnt seem to matter whn i change up, no time is ever gained or lost.... no w thats just weird
