Be Gentle Guys...

jump_ace

Bollocks you are a dead man :sly:

i will give that 1'00.4xx a crack again, hell if i hit that 28.1xx again i might get close to cracking a 59 through T2 although i doubt i will be that quick...

and i might have to jump into a Type V with my settings seeing as they appear to be 20kgs lighter after all the weight reductions...

Just ran a BARELY BARELY BARELY dirty 1:00.232....I'm about ready to CRY!!!

EDIT: I'll have to settle for these splits, and these are clean, I would like to trim some more time but I've been up for 20 hours and I need to get up in about 5 hours...soo.....I''m outta here boys! And Andrew..."come get me sucka!" LOL. 👍
T1 - 28.426 (Man I wish that 28.1xx was here that I had just a second ago!)
T2 - 1:00.438

Here's my settings, I'll give my inspiration to Kent this evening, without his good progress with his 1:00.7xx splits (and beating mine) I wouldn't have traded sleep for GT. Anyway here are my settings:

Suspension: (Original Suspension bought from Amuse)
Spring Rate: 6.5/5.5
Ride Height: 80/80
Shocks: 8/8
Camber Angle: 2.0/1.0
Toe Angle: 0/0
Stabilizers: 4/5 (icemanshooter's idea here, thx again man!)
Trannsmission: Auto 7, Final Gear 4.100
Brakes: 5/5
No Aids
LSD: Standard LSD, much to my surprise, thought I had the 1 way LSD installed..but nope!

T2 - 1:00.438

have seen similar splits to these actually, i saw a 28.177 in a 5 lap dash (super clean as well, ballsed up T2 though) i had about 20 minutes ago, so i reckon if i get it right i will get you sucka!!! :) just gotta get it right :ouch:

and just looking at your settings i can't believe how different they are to mine

Suspension: Racing
Spring Rate: 10.0/11.0
Ride Height: 90/94
Shocks: 6/8 (Front and Rear are the same)
Camber Angle: 2.0/1.0
Toe Angle: 0/0
Stabilizers: 3/6
Trannsmission: Auto 9, Final Gear 4.000
Brakes: 8/6
No Aids
LSD: 5, 5, 15

HHmm...actually I started out kinda similar to those settings, I'm glad to see someone is taking advantage of the stronger lsd decel ;). Now to beat my splits Andrew, STAT! heheh.

For what they're worth here's the settings i was using for my sumbitted time:

Buy everything except the roll cage
racing susp.
rate 8.4 / 7.8
height 96 / 96
bound 4 / 4
rebound 8 / 8
camber 2.0 / 0.8
toe 0 / 0
stabs 4 / 4
Br. bal. 1 / 3
Tranny trick with FD set @ 3.600 (this eliminates the need to use 6th gear)
No aids
Fully cust. LSD 60 / 60 / 5

Now, legality questions, which I'm sure I know the answer to, but want to just double check for my sake and everyone else's who MIGHT have some question in their minds.

Would driving on the outside of this white line be considered legal?(yes in my mind)

Would driving with two wheels out in the dirt, and two wheels in the run-off style stuff in between the two red/white rumbles to the immediate right of my car be legal?(no in my mind)

Am I correct with these legality assumptions?

You're correct with both of them.
There's no point in forbidding the portion of the track which is outside the white stripes on this straight section : there's no time to gain or to lose here. It's the same on Grand Valley Speedway, though the question wasn't asked in week 35.

As for the section between the rumble strips (I think someone called this 'grass-crete' back in week 30 when it was allowed to drive on them), it is not part of the track.
(Which is a pity for me because it seems to have a sort of magnetic effect on my S2000 : can't help putting wheels on it when drifting this double left-hander).

I have included a link to a GT4 setup guide written by a fellow GTP member SCAFF.
It's a very comprehensive guide and I would urge those of you who havnt seen
it yet to download it and have a read as I'm sure there is something in there
for everyone 👍.

Steve

Very good tuning guide there, well worth a download and read!

It takes a little time to download, but is well worth it.

Hi everyone :) !!!
Improved time for me:

T1: 28.036 s (seen 27.9xx)
T2: 1'00.049 min (but no 59.9xx :grumpy: )

I left the S2000 '99 for a '01 Type V one, the S2000 '99 is heavier and slides a lot more in the corners 👎

Zik

Well, :grumpy:

I'm in a pickle now. :(

Based on what KLR mentioned about the Type-V being lighter, I took a gamble, raised some money, used an UberSave and bought a Type-V '01.

Sadly it was bright red. :yuck:
(not very good looking compared to my white machine)

Anyway, so I setup everything the exact same way as my normal '01.

After about 3 laps I knew the exact changes that needed to be made in the settings, then after about 12 more laps I was consistantly lapping at the same speed and faster than my previous best.

Sure enough, the Type-V beat the Normal with ease after a few good tries. 👍

The Type-V has more grip, more understeer, and less weight (giving it a 3.75? pwr instead of the normal '01's pwr of 3.8??).

I suggest to everyone that they jump in a Type V using the exact setup they are already using and then if needed, adjust slightly to compensate for the differences in the car.

Btw, I hope my settings helped out everyone as much as I have been helped out by the news regarding the Type-V's weight. :dopey:

Also, great lap Zikwik. 👍
I'm sure you will manage to ruffle some feathers with times like that... Probably even make it into that "requred replay" section of times. 👍

Good luck to all,
I'm done with this race for sure now.
Ran my Type-V to a fun speed and called it a week (wouldn't have even tried if the 20kg difference wasn't there).

In anycase, good luck to all and good speed as well.

Got a couple free minutes right now and I thought I would pop in and see what's happening, except the only thing I found was Luxy's leaderboard isn't working...ggrrr...it was last night....strange, so I'll see if I made a typo and update it, or if Luxy is doing some updates.

Nice splits Zikwik!

EDIT: I also just tried to see the leaderboard for my rally series and it is down as well. So looks like we'll just have to hang in until Luxy is done doing whatever. But once its back up it will be updated (to this post anyway)

jump_ace

Well,
Ascari Red or not, the Type-V is the faster car.

However, because of the differences between the normal '01 and the Type-V '01, I had to do some changes in the settings.

Fittingly, I am going to post the new settings. 👍
Hope they help.

(regarding only the settings that are capable of being changed)

"Original" Suspension Settings:
5.8/5.8 springs
115/115 ride height
8/8 shock absorbers
2.2/1.5 camber
0/0 toe
4/4 stabilizers

4/3 brake balance

Stock full custom tranny settings

(still running on all of my semi race components such as a twin plate clutch and semi race flywheel)

Hope those help out for any of you who are looking for a balanced setup. 👍

Also, those are only slightly different from the normal '01's settings and as usual, they are still only slightly different from the "stock" settings. 👍

Catch you all later and like I said before, if you try the settings I would love to hear of your results.

Until next time,
-Kent

(btw, don't forget about my offer/notice regarding the "c.r.c. & r.s.r." :sly: )

3 days remaining, and a lot of talking this week, so here are the compared specifications for all 4 possible cars :

Awesome, and likewise, I've updated the list to show your participation.

I also strongly encourage all racers with replay devices to sign up.

It just might save someone the time of asking "can you provide a replay" and at the same time save the racer the trouble of being defensive about the legitimacy of their times. 👍

Back on the subject of the thread though...

Great work flat-out. 👍
The PWR display is a welcome addition to the thread as I am sure there are many like myself who ran the normal S2000 thinking it was the lighter car and in the process shorted themself the PWR advantage.

Oddly, I find that the V-type doesn't get its real advantage from the PWR (although that helps).
I think the advantage comes from the handling of the car and the increased understeer grip.

As strange as it sounds, understeer is our friend this week.
Sliding out the tail just gives us more time on the track and a wider line (that isn't necessarily faster).

Plus, the slight understeer of the V-type is easily tuned away thanks to the wonders of a GT4 honda suspension.

Finally, the main reason I see the V-type as the faster car is simply because I achieved a faster final lap time without much effort at all.

In fact, I didn't plan on improving but the temptation of the V-type's pwr pulled me into a new session... After a few laps the handling kept me involved and in less than 30 minutes I was ahead of my best lap by a nice margin.

Had it been harder to improve my time I would have just given up. Instead, the faster time came to me with ease and the suprise of that improvement has me hailing the V-type as the S2000 to beat.

Anyway, catch you guys later,
Until next time,
-Kent

Looks like your settings work for me, Kent.
First session with them :
lap 1 : crap
lap 2 : 0.2 behind my previous best
lap 3 : 0.3 ahead of my previous best

I'm glad to hear that flat-out. 👍
Seems I may have a bit of sense when it comes to tuning (despite the fact that my settings are not nearly as perverted as many of the setups around the GTP).

My theory is to keep the car balanced, adjust only what needs to be adjusted and always keep the stock settings in mind.

It seems like most people just want to adjust each setting regardless of what it may or may not do.
Likewise, it seems like many people want to adjust settings in extreme ways to achieve what could be done with another part more easily.

Maybe I'm too conservative about my setups, but most of the ride heights, spring rates, and toe settings I see posted seem way too extreme for my taste.

Of course, I'm probably wrong about most of this stuff since it seems like there are far more reputable tuners out there who use setups that are nothing like mine.

Oh well, I suppose it's just a matter of opinion and driving style.

But hey, I'm glad they helped flat-out. 👍
(for that matter, I am glad I helped :D )

Oh, btw, just as another reminder,
if anyone didn't catch my notice about the C.R.C. please check my "replay supported racers" link in my sig.

Till next time,
-

6 more laps, and another 0.8 saved on my previous fastest.
Now consistently at 1'01.8

Have managed to do some laps/tuning tonite, as I'm feeling a bit better.:)

Knocked .5 second off lap time,👍
Got into the mid-28 second club for T1:tup: 👍
But still not faster in the middle sector to T2.:grumpy:

Conclusion, I have found my setup for S/F-T1 and T2- S/F, Excellent!

But, it's too slow in T1-T2. Excrement!

And my setup so far is....

F/C suspension (changed it earlier on)
Springs 7.9/6.3
Ride Height 105/105
D/Bound 5/3
D/Rebound 6/4
Camber 2.0/1.5
Toe 0/0
Stabs 5/4

Brakes 7/6
LSD 30/45/10
Gears Auto 11

For what it's worth!

Neil

T13R
Seen 28.0 and 1'00.4 (on higher T1's)

Quick, someone take him down at the knees!...or the wrists I guess...lol. Good splits man!

jump_ace

Had my first real punt at this just then.

Got a 1'01.1 T2 with a 28.6 T1.

I saw a 28.3 T1 and now I have to get it again. Oh, it turns out that I don't have the Type-V one either for the leaderboard people.

i got another comp that finishes today so that will get my concentration today but after that it is game on...

Been away at a friends wedding all weekend and I come back to find the Type V is the place to be and I also hadn't stiffened the chassis of my baby...time to find that Type-V and get the lead out!!!

had a good 30mins

28.066
1'00.481

but then lost .6 in last section (still learning the combo)

Seen a 27.xxx and a 1'00.3xx

Its a lovely combo 👍

BTW i will try to fix the leaderboard it seems its down for now, so i will see what i can do.

27.598
59.701

i did this split, but i didnt save the replay as the power shut off unexpectably

but i do remember the setup

8.7/6.0
105/121
4/5
7/8
same
same
4/4

gears at auto 8 (i think)
lsd standard
ect
ect
ect

i would have submitted that time as i broke the second barrier i was aiming for, know i'll have to try again

Well...I'm no holl01 (freakish splits man  ) but I'm shooting for a Div 2 win this week. I just bought the Type-V '01 and I beat my old lap by 0.4 within 5 laps. But I want to ensure my line for one particular place is clean, I think it is, but I have to be certain:

This is after going under the first two bridges coming down towards the double left-hander, I have always assumed that the white line means nothing, it's the edge of the road that matters...am I correct? Just want to be 100% certain. If it's good, here are my new splits:

T1: 0'28.355
T2: 1'00.680

I finished strong as well, not sure how much is left in the track for me but having this new car it seems I can take almost all corners a bit better now so there could well be more time to take off this...we'll see

Laters 👍

[EDIT]
Just to add weight to my claim, here is a picture of the car in an obviously clean position right?

But if the rumble and concrete section were replaced with grass it would still be clean right? Anyway just a thought.
