haha I agree with you Small_Fryz, the stick is on the wrong side ... like all the other people drive on the wrong side of the road as well :sly: .

Only been playing this round with my DFP, it just fells more in control than last week's test, where I was actually faster with the DS2 ...

Same settings on DFP as Small_Fryz ...

I was mucking around in time trial mode and i accomplished this

T1 23.727
T2 53.012

I saved the replay if anyone wants to take a look after the race. done with DS2.
To small fryz, i use the paddles all the time (cos the stick is on the wrong side for aussies) and i turn the driving assists off, whats the benifit of having power steering on?

< Teledriel Enterprises drops down the trailer, and out rolls a brand new Lotus.

WOOT Now can at least attempt the race with ya'll......

/hops in, starts her up, rolls out of the pits :vroom:

holl01, i find it makes it easier to steer quickly, and isnt as much resistence in steering.

It still feels great though, you should give it a go

In the GT options settings it says it makes counter steering faster ... so the resistance is less with that setting on ... when you counter steer that is ... easier to correct car again ...

I also play on 60% FF, as 100% makes it too hard to fight the car the whole time ... for me at least ... maybe I'm just weak 👎

Do you guys also "wheelie" the back end of the car just before T2 in the tunnel braking zone ?

This DFP is taking some getting used to. Gear stick on the wrong side and combined with being left handed it's making it awkward for me. It looks like the paddles for me from now on. Another problem is getting used to braking with my left foot instead of my right and remembering that the brake isn't the clutch lol.

No times for me just yet, I'm still in free run.

It took me a while as well, but with me being left handed as well and also from a country that drives on the left hand side of the road it does take some getting used to ... I never use the stick though ... only the paddles and it works great !

But strangely I had no real issues with the left foot braking ... I'm just scared I might do it in my real car now !

Just shows that we'll be able to drive a car with paddles on the steering wheel haha 👍

Man, I need to get moving on this.

So far I've done a few laps in time trial mode and managed

T1 23.8XX
T2 53.5XX

I haven't even looked at the race situation yet, blame the European Champions League.

John.

How the h*ll do you guys manage to get your first T1's below 0.32'000? For me it's impossible even if I go 150km/h in the first corner.

BTW guys and gals,

REF my post #87 with the photo

I was only using that photo to help CFM and others to visualise the question 'does it matter which 2 tyres are on the track/rumble/allowed surfaces'
It was not a question of verifying THAT manouver around THAT corner, on THAT lap!
I had spent a while deliberately drifting the car all around the track, and cutting corners in an effort to obtain THAT photo, so i could ask the question. Nothing more!
Hope i have cleared things up?
👍

Here is my work in progress

T1 24.577
T2 54.916

(in time trial mode)

will post some 3 lap time soon! 👍

New best splits are:

T1 - 0'24.294
T2 - 0'54.262

T1 - 0'24.383

Do you think that having the aids on helps your times? I might have to give it a go. I just wish you could control the amount of ASM and TCS like in GT3!

Don't let the car drift at all through the first turn (I know, easier said than done). Brake firmly in a straight line, then turn in gently and get on the gas as soon as possible. Getting a good exit is much more important than braking late. You should be in the powerband in fourth gear just before the apex.

For the right sweeper, brake early and stay fairly close to the inside. Use partial throttle for the first part of the turn, then full on as soon as possible. You should end up over to the left side of the tunnel, about 1/3 of the way through it. If you're having trouble keeping it clean entering the tunnel, you're either braking to late or getting on the gas too early.

Also, there's a bump a little past halfway through the turn .. make sure that the back end doesn't slide when you hit it, or you'll loose a lot of time.

That approach a has been good for sub 31.0 / 24.2 T1's for me 👍

I don't really have a preferred setup in terms of ASM, TCS and even what transmission i use. I usually just see what feels best for each individual combo. And this week i just felt most comfortable with it like this. Try it, you've got nothing to lose!

Also, i don't know what other peoples opinions are but the third place car I've found to be most sympathetic to my line through turn one is the Ford Focus ST170. The BMW 2002 Turbo is the next best I've found.

had a couple of goes today, my first ones on this combo so here they are

T1: 32'142 T2: 1'03'947
T1: 25'654 T2: 56'818
T1: 25'346 T2: 56'054

We'll see if i can post though, the boss is talking about removing our internet connections..... something to do with it being abused....

LOL, that cracked me up. I just imagined vexd saying it like a guy talking about his girlfiriend saying "she said something about me not listening....i dunno, i wasn't really paying attention to her."

while i'm sitting in the paddock drinking a beer putting on sunscreen. The role of spectator is currently being played by...ME. hey, somebody has to be in the stands...and run the PA system....and take pictures....and give security something to do....

Speaking of DFP, what settings do you have it on, strenghth wise, and i presume you have all the steering assists turned off, yeah? and do u change gears with the stick or the paddles on the wheel? what else is there to ask, hmmm, thats about it. later

i have full strength, and yup all the assists off.

week 1 and 4 so far i've used the stick ( and i prefer using the stick, because champ car drivers use the stick throughout their races ) lotsa respect for the champ car drivers 👍 👍 👍

but for week 2's supra the shifts occured to often i had to use the paddles,
and for week 3 i was able to correct the car faster using the paddles,

vexd
Dammit why use anything else, the only time a paddle should be used is when your in a boat, or Juan Pablo's McLaren.

JPM is my favorite driver, i swear he can drive anything to its limits and be able to catch the car whenever its gonna be in trouble.

anywayz time to try and beat holl01'z new times now

With out any aids I can kind of slide through the first right hander past the third place car and then pass all the cars right after the second little turn.

I have gotten a 30.5 T1 on the 1st lap. doing this

A little drift with this particular car can actually work quite well. the car balances itself out very well from a slight drift.

Hah, I'm starting to see the lines and just how much this car can be pushed. Hopefully I can stay consistent for 3 laps... :ill:

Best 2nd/3rd lap so far:

T1: 24.607
T2: 54.519

Yah, in a few spots, it's a big help on this track (the left between the tunnels, and the hairpin come to mind), but on T1 it cost you too much exit speed

the other cars on the track are really pi**ing me oFF~!

i cant even get below a 0:31.000 now
im losing .5 to some people if i cant find the right field :grumpy:

Yes they are a b****. I actually find them easier to pass when they are on S1 tires, instead of Small_Fryz's suggestion of S3. Oh well, I've set another new personal record just before I have to leave the house.

Lap 3:

T1: 23.998
T2: 53.951

k did a better lap then the lap i forgot to save the replay :)

Lap 1
T1 0:30.676--------0'30.774
T2 1.00.303--------1'00.353 stupid mistake on last corner, missed a shift :grumpy: which probly made me lose .250 or so seconds because of the uphill

Lap 2
T1 0:24.121--------0'23.919
T2 0:53.703--------0'53.380

Lap 3
T1 0:23.994--------0'23.960
T2 0:53.445--------0'53.431 .049 seperated my 2nd and 3rd lap

Kind of embarassing posting times after h0t. :ill:

My first, and only :yuck: clean run:

32.184 - 1'03.381
25.666 - 56.509
25.259 - 56.022

Hope I can find some more seat time to shave this beast.

I freaking like this combo ... I've only gone around about 5 times, but my T's are damned competitive ... YAY!!!!

31.951 - 103.016
24.886 - 55.668
24.924 - 55.476

I really think that I can hack .5 off my T1 and maybe as much as a second off my T2 with some practice (it's currently my weakest T, I have no idea what I'm doing)

I think it's a half decent start, tho :)

DIV3, DFP

After my first stent:

Lap 1:
T1: 31.147
T2: 1'00.831

Hot laps:
T1: 24.2xx's
T2: 35.7xx's

With some more track time I'm sure I can knock those sectors down some. Turn 1 is by far my worst corner, i'm not having trouble getting through there at a decent speed just lots of annoyances getting through there that taboo way

👍 to this car, track and tire combos.
