I think Cyril wants you to tune it to 337?, but i could be wrong
My initial plans were to allow all 6 cars but with a power restriction so that they reach similar p/w ratios. I changed my mind when I realized that the 6 cars could conveniently be split in 3 pairs, and it seems that I forgot to change the MR-S power.

@ MinorShunt : Gregor has been promoted to div 2, he can't use the WedSport as you suggested ;)

OK, serious question on this. I know the rules say 'no contact with AI.'

What if I pass an AI car cleanly, so that the front end of my car is beyond his, I hold my line, and he bumps into me from the side?

Regardless to your answer to the above question, there's of course the possibiliity of an AI car running into my car while breaking into a corner. Surely that cannot be considered contact with AI, can it?

Please advise, as I may have to radically adjust my driving style for this....

Sorry mate. No contact means 'No contact'. I know it's hardly fair, but it's easier to draw the line this way.

I remember way back when we ran a multi-lap at Tsukaba in a Subaru, and Jase86 (Is he still around?) was touched in the back by the AI ever so slightly and lost a win if I recall correctly.

If you start allowing touches from behind, then it will progress to touches on the rear quarter, then to the front, and it will just end up a demolishion derby.

Well, I'm definitely glad I asked this question now, and not in 3 days time when I've done some times dependant on doing bumper cars...:sly: :sly:

Thanks for clarifying Casio. Annoying nonetheless.

Do you think it's possible to pass all 5 AI cars without touching them before the long sweeping downhill left between T1 and T2 on the first lap? That's what I've been doing, but I've always ended up being bumped at least once towards the outside of a turn on exit... You can really only start going fast once you've gotten past them.

Oh well, here's my first clean run through:

L1
T1: 24.555
T2: 1:03.086

L2
T1: 19.424
T2: 57.549

I'm running the R.E. Amemiya RX-7 (JGTC) '04, Division 3 car.

(BTW to those doing the Leader board, I noticed you've got me down as using the DFP. I wish I was, but unfortunately, I'm stuck with the DS2 for now... cheers!)

Sorry about that edit but I just can't stand double posting. :yuck:
All is good I hope.

Regarding the race, I should have some racing done this afternoon.
School calls for now so the AM will be a philosophy 101 lesson... However, afterwards I will be free to do as I please. :mischievous:

Razo Silvia here I come! :D
None the less, we have some great looking times already posted. 👍
I ran yesterday for the sake of taking pictures and learning about the AI line-ups.
Turns out my times were horrible compared to what has been posted so far. The thing is, I wasn't running for speed but instead, for research and photography.
I've got a few nice pictures posted and I've also found that not every difficulty between 1 and 7 will get the job done.

Ran with the Silvia and used difficulty 3 or 4 (can't remember).
Ended up without any JGTC 300 but I did have a few rally cars and a few touring cars like the Mazda 6 tourer and the Altezza tourer.

Remember to keep that part of the rules in mind everyone!
Atleast one JGTC 300 car must be present in your AI line-up. 👍

it certainly is mate, i usually round up P2 during the uphill left-right that is right on T1 and then get P1 just after the next right hander, but well before the long sweeping left hander you are talking about...

and if you are having trouble with a certain set of cars, exit the race, and go back to the screen where you can choose what course you are racing and then start again, you generally get a couple of different cars to race against and that can greatly affect where and when you pass the AI, the first set of cars i was racing against cost me over a second on the first lap, compared to the bunch i am racing now... so keep trying til you find some AI which are the easiest to pass...

This looks like an excellent combo that gives us Div 3 drivers a shot at the big boys (& girls). I may have to choose between watching the Superbowl and this.

I'll be careful not to get even close to the AI as several weeks back it was determined that it's all but impossible to visually verify contact.

I guess the key is to put the AI on inferior tires with a low difficulty so they're easier to pass?

Something went wrong when posting, but I didn't realise I had double posted. Wasn't intended, so it's all for the better anyway.

Actually, it depends on the tyres, but also on the cars themselves, which in turn depends on the AI speed difficulty setting you chose. I've discovered this in the last session I just did.

If you find a good set of AI cars to go against, you can almost slalom right through them keeping your racing line without even worrying about where they are. Putting them on hard tyres has sometimes worked better for me than putting them on super hard tyres.

No matter what settings you use, they'll be slaughtered by the first T2, but what is important is their position on the track at the moment you're going to be level with them, meaining you have to have a quite consistent line & speed you drive.

Although, the ability to slipstream adds another factor into the equation.....:nervous: :nervous: :nervous: I'm confusing myself now...

Awesome combo Cyril. I love these multilap AI races. 👍

Some splits for me too:

L1
T1 - 0'23.824
T2 - 1'01.481

L2
T1 - 0'18.620
T2 - 0'55.973

Div 2, so using the Cusco Impreza. Still experimenting with the difficulty and tyre choice settings to try and get the perfect AI field.

Yo had a few hours play on this highly addictive combo and managed

24.128
1'01.944

18.092
55.529

using MR-S, i lost .1 on the final corners of both laps due to stupidity. But i dont think i can repeat that T2 of 1'01 an the opening lap.

Surely you will have plenty of time to race AND watch the superbowl,
I mean,
all those bits of programming with big guys in body armour and helmets ( pu$$ies ) in the breaks of the advert show!:sly:

Board updated. It takes me longer to do the multi-lappers with multiple car choices, so bear with me peeps 👍 If I miss someone or throw a typo in there, just let me know.

Good combo Flat'!!! What a great idea to have a handicap race :) Personally, I've got to have a look at this ASL ... we have somewhat a history the two of us and I can't ignore her at a time like this!

Uh, is this some sort of streaker's convention you speak of? Never knew that the members were called "peeps" but in retrospect it's all so clear to me now! ;)

I'll take it you don't like football.
And therefore you are my friend 👍

If you are a real man, rugby is the only way to go.

Anyway, just to be on topic, I gave this race a go, last night, and the MR-S handles just like I remembered it did. I think it's one of the best cars in the game. Really neutral, hardly any over or understeer, not a single tire squeal.

If only this was a hotlap :indiff:
It would be absolute perfection, then.

I just hope in GT5 they allow us to do multilapper with NO AI - that would be awesome :D

Anyway, I am fixing to do some more laps and see if I can find an AI Setting that lets me go by them easily.

Hopefully I'll come back with some Division 3 worthy splits shortly ;)

I haven't watched 5 min of NFL this year. I enjoy the college stuff alot better. So I'm not a fan. But to call those guys "pu$$ies" because they wear protective equipment is a bit mean. I think it's just smart. As it is most of those guys are hobbled when they're 40 - 50 years old. We all have just one head, two eyes, knees etc. Since we live to be 70 or 80 shouldn't we take good care of the equipment?

What about real race car drivers? Do "pu$$ies" wear fire suits, helmets and seatbelts?

Just because some stupid humans feel its more "manly" to throw your unprotected body around like it's a demolition derby doesn't mean the smart ones should be labeled "pu$$ies".

Why don't we do like the Mayans or Aztec or whoever and execute the losing teams players when the game is over...now those were real men?...sadly though they may have died before procreating so they're extinct? So I guess maybe the "realest" of men possibly didn't father children at all?

I guess a "real" man would skydive without a parchute or bungy-jump without the bungy?

Well I finaly got thru one clean race......
I am slow though...
here are my splits, I also lost quite a bit after t-2 :(
Lap1
T-1 24.423
T-2 102.411
Lap 2
T-1 18.366
T-2 56.173
Edit: using the Wedsport Celica of course :)

Way to take it way overboard 👍 ;)

We were just having a little fun.
Personally I enjoy watching other sports a lot more, as I grew up in Europe, were Soccer, F1, Moto GP, Skiing and the like are popular. And I never managed to get accustomed to the American sports, expecially football.

But I don't think we ever meant to start a discussion on real vs stupid vs smart vs people that want to save their own life and/or health.

It was all for a good laugh. And I personally laughed quite a bit when I read his post, because I always joke around with my friends here in America that I wouldn't go that far as to call a sport were you have to wear body armor like some Medieval knight a sport. That's all.

No need to take it personal 👍

Anyway, back to racing I go...

The Wizard.

Yup!

Rugby fan, and ex-player!

Don't mind a bit of 'real' football, y'know the kind played with the feet! Soccer is what the american's call it (probably coz they had already used football to describe a game where only 5% or less of the game is played with the foot, :ouch: D'Oh!)

American 'football' sucks almost as bad as baseball (From the perspective of someone who has only watched it on TV.)

And before anyone says it, no I don't like cricket either.

Also my previous post was not an attack, personal or otherwise!
As Wiz says in Europe, we get a lot of different sports to watch, and so, diversity rules (Darwin-ish)

Anyway, this looks like a good combo, been playing around with the PC all day, so haven't touched it yet.
Bleeding Norton Int.Sec. has decided to screw up, get it's self corrupted, and now I have to disable it just to get my e-mails. Good job I use a router as a hardware firewall.:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Oh $hit. I may have accidentally hit the report button instead of the quote. Honestly didn't mean to. If I did they'll realize there's nothing to report.

I really wasn't taking it personally (like I said I'm not a fan so I could care less) and I was just having a little fun too but I do get a little tired of the "real" man talk. Sorry, I guess my atempts at humorous ranting are too serious.

I like NASCAR but do real men only drive in circles (I wish I could watch those V8 Supercars go at it on a road course...not that sounds exciting). I drove one of those NASCAR cars at 145mph at Charlotte (Lowes) Motor Speedway. It was exciting and fun but the professionals do it at 180 - 190?MPH inches away from each other. That would scare the poo poo out of me.

Integrity is what defines a real man...I think we all know that.

Thank you for reporting me

I know you didn't do it on purpose, that's why I am laughing. I have never received a warning, nor started a fight with anybody. And I am always pretty open minded (or, at least, I like to consider myself that ;)).

But anyway, do not worry about it.

I just wanted to add one more thing: the reason I make fun about those sports is because I am not used to watch them and because I do not like them as much as I do like the ones I am used to watch (if what I just said makes any sense at all). I know NASCAR (since you brought it up) takes some skills and some courage, but I'd rather watch something else, as it is extremely boring to me. So is Formula 1, incidentally. I used to like it, back in the days, when the podium was actually decided during the race (because that's the whole point, isn't it?) and when there was some passing going on. Now the podium is decided during the qualifier and during the pit stops. I just hope Moto GP doesn't end up the same way.

Anyway, I doubt we can go anymore off topic than this, so I'll shut up now ;) I don't want to hijack this thread, even if it's always nice to do some mature chit-chatting. Why did all this start? Oh, yeah, because of some immature comments I made... I just contradicted myself. Ok, I'll go hide, now... :D

The Wizard.

Honestly I'm sorry. I hope you believe it was unitentional. I clicked on it realized where I was and dragged the cursor off screen before I let it go but it seemed too late. It seems that there should be a "do you really want to report this post...continue" question. Especially since the button is right next to the "quote" button.

Is there some way or somebody I can notify it was a mistake? I wouldn't know where to begin.

Anyway next time you see me here I'll have my puny D3 splits to post. At least I get to drive the RX7. I read the post indicating the lap time differences between these cars. Has that been everybody's opinion that the RX7 is the best car. We just got through driving the ASL in NRS (with only an oil change, 340HP) and that thing rocked. Now I love both of these cars. Final lap time was close to the Amuse S2000 GT1 (500HP+?) but I believe the Amuse had S(something) tires and the ASL had R2s.

goixoye
Has that been everybody's opinion that the RX7 is the best car.

No, definately not the faster car of the two D3 cars. 👎
The RX7 doesn't hold a candle to the Celica and you would have to test them to see for yourself.
However, just as a hint of what you will find... TORQUE!
The Celica is super fast. 👍

Also, the Amuse S2000 GT1 you were talking about... That was on S3 tires. :sly:

Finally, my times... In the Razo Silvia
1'04.??? T2 Lap 1
58.??? T2 Lap 2

"Bad" but I don't have the will to try driving against the AI.
Nor the time to sit and figure out what the best combo to race against is... If I could have my way, I would race and finish in last place just so the other cars would stay out of my way. :dopey:
Unfortunately, the competition is just too slow to stay ahead of me (but too fast to get the hell out of my way!).

Oh well, maybe I'll spend some time hotlapping and get back here after that (to give an idea of what I should be doing on my T times).
Then I may be able to head into the 2 lap battle and test my luck against the AI (with a re-freshed memory of the track).

Until next time,
-Kent

btw,
(don't worry about the "report post" thing... no one will freak out about that, especially after they look into it and see that there was nothing wrong) (plus I'm here to act as a go-between for the mods)

I don't think you will need to worry about mate.

Even the reputation points system has a confirmation.

And any way, Wiz is right, the mods would see what was what and understand it was a slip. Coz the Wiz is a good guy, like the rest of us.

Neil

Here are my weak, sorry splits in the ASL I was quicker in that than the RX7 (better 1st lap in the ASL, better 2nd lap in the RX7)

T1=25.127
T2=1'02.759

T1=19.361
T2=57.497

Upon Kent's reccommendation I'll find some time for the Celica (sometimes is good to be D3)...maybe between the commercials during the Pu$$iebowl.

The Celica can blow your mind (maybe, pending on how much you've used it before).

About 2 months ago I started putting together various Ring hotlaps in a "Ring Rivals" race. The Celica and RX7 had a battle with one-another through my driving and "Icemanshooter23."
(just printin that whole name is odd, for now on I'm sticking to "Iceman" 👍 )

Anyway, :boggled:
Both him and I were able to record faster times by in the Celica. Of course, that's the Ring, not Infineon SP. :ouch:
I'm pretty sure the difference in engine power will still show. In fact, check this out... (straight from the arcade screen in front of me)...
Stock Arcade Power:
RE RX7- 305hp @ 8000rpm & 238ft.lb @ 6500rpm
Celica- 295hp @ 6000rpm & 325ft.lb @ 4000rpm

Guess who's gonna win that uphill battle? ;)
But the flat-ground battle is anyone's guess. :mischievous:

As for my racing... I've put in some time trial work using the Razo Nissan. :indiff:
This was actually one of the more fun races I have been involved with in a long time. No tire grip issues or handling problems, I would have settled for a Razo-only hotlap on this same course. :dopey:
So the racing is awesome for sure. 👍

However, I hate putting in that much time just to end up at a handicap. The question is, am I at a handicap?
I'm headed off now to test the MR-S to see how much faster it is (since I'm almost sure it is faster, despite the amazing razo's feel).

Back later,
Till then,
-
