if you have trouble with them hittin you in the arse, put them on crapper tyres.

I share Casio's point of view - in part - just not his amount of anger about it, though ;)

It would definitely be a LOT better if either (or both) of the following things applied:

1) Standing start
2) Long straight

Both of them should also be enough to pass every AI car before the first turn, never to be seen again for the rest of the race.

I agree completely: multilapping should be about stringing two or more good laps in a row, being consistant, being clean and fast on more than just one single lap.

It should NOT, on the other hand, be about being lucky with the AI. That's not skills, that's chance, coincidence.

I had plenty of low 1'02's @ L1 and 56.5's @ L2, none of them clean because of the AI. The one time out of ten I manage to get past the AI cleanly, my laps are not as good. Needless to say, the frustration coming from those stupid computer controlled vehicles is driving me insane. As it as been proved more than once before, monkeys definitely can drive better than Artificial Intelligence :D

Anyway, I am going to give this a go until I get a clean final time that is either equal or better than the current illegal one I have. Don't care if it takes me all day tomorrow.

The Wizard.

Don't know if everyone's seen it, but Little_chips has found a very nice option for when doing multi-lapper's with the AI.

If we do a multi-lapper with a convertable car, S2000 Elise etc, then there is an extra setting in the options to race with the top up or down.
If you choose down, then you only have ONE AI car to deal with!

Just a thought!

I can't understand the lack of participants this week. I thought the combo would go down a treat. i had another session today and managed some great splits, just not all in the same 2 laps. Saw a 17.9 T1 and a 55.2 T2 but my first lap was rubbish which meant my race time was no better than my previous best. :grumpy:

Don't know, but I just can't seem to improve my overall time. Sectors seem to be all over the shop, but I always seem to end up within 2 tenths of my best lap so far... Is there a prize for driving very consistently (bad)?:)

Well, it's only my 2nd week here, so there's much more to come. Loved last week's challenge, and haven't liked this one much. So be it.

I hate AI.

Cusco WRX
Lap 1
T1 - 0'24.455
T2 - 1'03.032

Lap 2
T1 - 0'18.843
T2 - 0'57.292

Time submitted.

AI +2 on sh tyres

I'm only getting a clean T1 about once every 10 attempts:grumpy:

T1 24.655
T2 1'03.121

T1 18.792
T2 57.139

Will try and improve these before submitting. This is the most frustrated I've been with GT4 for a long time:crazy:

Had some time this week to put some laps in with the Subaru:

24.509
1'02.280

18.317
55.940

Probably won't have time to improve on those. Strangely, that's with max speed at 230 - I hit the rev limiter once (or twice) on the long left after T2 but overall I can't beat that with settings at 240.

OK, this may just be the run I'm going to submit. After 3 days, I finally got an improvement. And it was 2 seconds better than my previous best. Thing is, I wasn't even concentrating on the lap. My mind just wandered on to the great mystery of the world (women:boggled:), and my time was 2 seconds quicker.

Woohoo!! I think there's something to that saying about 'God works in mysterious ways...'

Anyway, here are the latest splits: Still using the Div3 Wedssport Celica.

L1T1: 24.293
L1T2: 1.02.509

L2T1: 18.738
L2T2: 56.565

I don't think it'll get me anywhere near as high up in the division as last week, but maybe just not last. That'll suit me enough this week. Maybe I'll try to improve tomorrow, but I don't know if I'll have the same divine inspiration as I did today:lol:

Not to be a jerk or anything, but man am I glad I ain't getting upset about those AI.... I feel your pain guys! Next week hopefully will be more up my alley and I"ll see what I can manage on my dfp, time shouldn't be an issue hopefully I can submit a D1 worthy time 👍 laters! Oh and Kolyana has a big project coming up next week so I'll take care of the LB too (and I see small_frys around here too, what up Dion!)

I got started too late this week to really put in a monkey worthy try. I felt bad about only having like 4 golds and cheated the first two licenses so I went back to do some housekeeping. So far I have golded A, B, iB, and half of iA and all except for the last Coffee Break. Has anyone ever done the Autocross coffee break in the Z Roadster with a DFP? Insane... I had to resort to the DS2.

Still need M34 though... Grr....

Anyway, 1.5 hours in, and I'm at:

T1 24.483
T2 1'02.732
T1' 18.866
T2' 57.226

VERY fun combo, and thanks to whoever suggested AI4 on RH. Works great. Probably done though. I'll be DLBF (dead last but finished for the AI (acronymn impaired)) in D1 but oh well...

Thank you for thinking about me, SHigSpeed 👍 :D

Anyway, I managed a few clean races last night, just not as good as I wanted them to be. Still about a second left on the track for me. I'll give this one last go tonight.

Later.

The Wizard.

I was hoping to improve over he weekend but found no time at all to sit down for a good stint. Spent all of the weekend prep-ing for house move.

Just feel like I could have pushed my times a little more. Will try to do one last run tonight and maybe set a new pb to submit for this one.

I like the challenge this series presents and being only my second race I hope to improve in time.

So far I've enjoyed this race (except for the AI).

Had my first real go at the combo tonight. Lotssa fun! :) In the MR-S, and still using the same AI setup as what I posted at the start of the week.

L1
T1: 24.048
T2: 1'01.687
L2
T1: 18.075
T2: 55.796

Not bad, but made some mistakes that cost me on both laps. :ouch: If I get a chance to run again, I should be able to pick up another .5 anyway.

I found an AI setup using level 5 and R2's that I can come within .1-.15 of
holl01's L1-T2 time, but I have not been able to do it clean with the AI. It seems impossible to do clean, but then again, Dan has a habit of pulling off the impossible!:D 1'01.2xx is just HUGE! 👍

yes, women:grumpy: but we can´t live without them:dopey:
i also spend hours trying to figure their heads:crazy:

but maybe more intriging than this, is the stupid AI we find this round. i tried for 40 minutes or so on thursday, but nothing clean or good. i´ll try to have a go tonight, but i don´t know if i´ll get a time in...

Ah yes, AI. How I hate them so.

Had a run tonight and most of them were dirty,:grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:

Then on two occasions I had a 23 on t1/l1 and stuffed it up! Going for too much. So angry with my self. So in the end I'll prob submit the best time I managed last fri.

Still felt I could have made a slightly better run but will have no time for it now.

Submitted my slow but clean race.

Not touched it for a day or so.

Looking to be dead last in D2.

Reason for not playing: Dug out my PC copy of Need for speed-porche 2000 (unleashed to the colonials)
Having so much fun, using my DFP plugged into the pc (yes it works and is recognised as a Driving force MOMO wheel) in 900 degree mode.

If you ever want a game to teach you subtle driving and the feel of under/oversteer, try this one.
It runs on anything ( I have it set @ 1280x1024, full screen, max detail etc) and it flies! And my PC is not super fast.

Anyway, good luck to all, and Laters dudes and dudet's

Try out Live for Speed(wich works in 900 degree) or even GTR or Rfactor. They are the best games and most real. ;)

I used to play NFS porsche alot also in the past, its a quite nice game.

So...I did the Infineon World Sports Endurance race yesterday with the Minolta. Whew boy was THAT fun! I think I learned the track well enough to get a good--and this time LEGAL--lap around Sears Point. I'll be busy tonight!

Good luck folks! Not because I'm a tough contender or anything. lol

OK, this is it. I'm submitting this time. Cut another 0.8 off my overall time, and don't think I have the patience to do any more. Maybe this'll finally take me out of last place on the leaderboard...

Final splits:

L1T1: 24.056
L1T2: 1.01.700

L2T1: 18.721
L2T2: 56.483

Best of luck to everyone else!!!

I hope to have my second go at this combo tonight, haven't done it since the first time. I just need to try out your AI settings so I can get a good first lap T1, and I'll be pretty close to where I'd like to be this week I think. Good enough anyway...

Alright, it is finally legal. AI +1, RSH, I am using RS tires on the Celica.

T1 - 24.265
T2 - 1'01.920

T1 - 18.638
T2 - 56.386

Shibby. 👍

Edit: Whoever is in charge of the leaderboard, my first time was illegal. These t-times are my only valid ones on the correct tires. Sorry for the confusion!

Live for speed, I haven't tried,
GTR, I have played, and found to be VERY twichy (very realistic, but not FUN to play),
RFactor, I haven't even heard of, so can't make a comment.

But NSF Porsche 2000/Porsche unleached is a FANTASTIC game featuring full feedback, great graphics, realistic physics and realistic AI, all in a game released in 2000!

Try it,
It's out on white label/Gold-label, budget etc, and cost me £4.99 when I needed to replace my original.

Hey Neil,

you might want to try using the WingMan drivers, found here.
That way, your DFP will be recognized for what it is 👍
(click on Latest Software, your Operating System, and then download the Logitech Gaming Software 4.60 - assuming you have Windows XP).

The software also comes with a nice interface through which you can adjust a lot of options.

But yeah, if you are serious about PC Racing Games, Live for Speed is the best way to go. Once you get used to the "real" physics, the driving experience is just fantastic 👍

rFactor is quite good, also. But I think LfS is way better.

i played it alot in 2000, and 2001, its a quite nice game specially for the old cars that are in the game. Very nice.

but i still prefer some simulators, so i go for GTR and Rfactor. 👍

Well, I finally got a "decent" race.

I managed to get 0.6 better than my older best, dirty (due to some cones getting knocked out before T2 of L2) race.

But then I didn't save the replay, as I hit the wrong button.

Therefore, I raced some more, and I managed to shave another 0.6 :D
So, now, I finally have a clean race that's 1.2 seconds faster that my older illegal one and 1.8 seconds faster than the one I was going to submit (my backup race, from my last session).

Here are my splits:

L1
T1: 0'24.337
T2: 1'02.643

L2
T1: 0'18.416
T2: 0'56.297

Time submitted.

Well, this is an interesting and frustrating combo, init?

My first laps are fine, if not brill (for me at least)

24.065
1'02.266

Second laps are seriously in need of work.

18.623:indiff:
56.341:grumpy:

Running the Cusco Subaru Advan blah blah blah
250 top speed, AI set to +2 & R3's

Passing the Asparadrink and the superautobacs before and into the first chicane (both on the left)
Passing the Subaru '03 rallycar in the mini straight, and the Razo into the 2nd chicane (again both on the left)
Passing the Lancer Evo at T1 (on the right)

happy with that line-up and methodology for passing them, just not too chuffed about the second lap.

Neil
Man, I have NO idea how you're getting around both the first two cars right there... If I try to pass them on the left I just get shuffled out off the track to the left... ARGH!

I need to get my t1 down!

LOL, thankyou, it not impossible but extremely hard to do a 1'01.2xx, u have to do the right after T1 above 80km/h, cya

Tried a few AI settings and gave up. I like the car, and I like the track, but for some reason, this week just doesn't give me the urge to keep trying. I'm submitting the time I got from my first session... Crappy T1 and thus full first lap and all.

Finding the right AI setting proved to be the most difficult thing for me to. I found 3 or 4 that worked at various points but then when I came back to them the next day I couldn't do it  I had a race where my first lap had a T2 of 1'01.599 !!!! But it was ever so slightly dirty, having done that lap disappoints me because now I know I personally left 0.6 on my first lap and atleast 0.5 on the second lap, leaving 1.1 on the track is disheartening but I can't get past the AI fast any more.

Hence, therefore, thusly.......I am submitting 👍
