When you get to the pit selection thingy. You can choose what compound you want or 'keep current'. So for example you could choose Racing:Soft for rear, and 'Keep Current' for the front, and only the rears would be changed.

But like I said before, there is no reason for doing this, as it takes exactly the same time to change 2 tyres as it does to change all 4.

Understood. I thought that Keep Current meant that it would change the tires using the current choice you are running with. Thanks!

I used to think that also, 'till I tried it once in an Endurance race, and had to go back to the pits on the very next lap because they didn't change my tires. :)

Are you guys able to drive this thing "competitively" without TCS/ASM? I was driving the car "raw" and was having a great deal of difficulty finessing the car around the track and was struggling to get lap times anywhere close to everybody else. On difficulty of 8 the CLK was leaving me in the dust.

I've not used TCS/ASM on this race at all... But I'm driving with a DFP so I can modulate the throttle a lot better than a DS2 is capable of doing. So that makes it much easier to prevent wheel-spin. If you're having wheel-spin problems, try TCS alone. Unless you're mixing compounds front-and-rear, it's really stable enough that you should be able to drive it without ASM.

I've been running AI set to +10 on RSS tires, while I've been using RS tires and 390 gears. I can usually catch up to the Benz on the first lap, and get some extra drafting time down the front straight (hence my "super-fast" T1 time on the leaderboard.)

So 2 questions: 1) Would the unintentional bump going into pit lane "disqualify" the attempt? 2) Would minor / incidental contact resulting from continuous nose to tail drafting down the Mulsanne "disqualify" the attempt? (I may find that this results in a penalty anyway).

If you do anything that results in a forced-pit penalty, then that's an automatic disqualification. Incidental AI contact while drafting, as long as there's no forced-pit penalty, is not a disqualification. As long as your contact with the AI is unintentional, and you're not "pushing" them out of your way on a turn, and they don't pop you in the rear-end and cause you to gain speed, then that's OK as I understand the rules for this week. Same with "off's." You go off the track, but don't hit a wall, and don't "short-cut" a turn (gaining time in the process) then it's still considered clean. Hitting a wall, of course, is an automatic disqualification, like any other week. (And most of the time, if you hit a wall, the computer will give you a forced-pit penalty anyway...)

This is as I understand the rules for this week -- please, anyone, feel free to correct me if you think I've gotten it wrong. :)

had another crack and pulled a couple more seconds off of my overall time, still want another 0.5 seconds a lap more though (might give it a crack in another couple of days) still waiting for one of the aliens to arrive though... :indiff:

T1: 2'46.811
T3: 2'40.439
T5: 3'07.554
T7: 2'39.209

Yes

I Have Some Time Now To Play, Will Post Some Splits In A Couple Of Hours, Cheeeeeeeeeeeers

well what have ya been doing so far mate? i am not used to sitting at the top of the leaderboard this long, anywayz...

i finally got close enough to what i wanted from this week, dropped about 1 second on the last lap but **** happens, TIME SUBMITTED...

Sometimes I hate this 🤬 game!

I had a GREAT race going, and messed it up on the last lap!!! Spun off the track and hit the wall -- forced-pit penalty, automatic disquallification!! :yuck: :grumpy: :ouch:

These were my splits before I was disqualified: T1, 2'45.290; T3 2'40.831; T5 3'08.080; and T7 2'40.134. It was AWESOME! And it's NO GOOD!!! ARRRRRRGH!!! :banghead:

I'll try again tomorrow...

EDIT: That's a total time of 11'14.335!!! That would've put me ON TOP of the leaderboard!! (At least as it stands right this moment.) ARRRRGGHHHH!!! :banghead: (Shockwaveracing's newest time hasn't been entered on the leaderboard yet, and his total is about .3 faster -- but STILL! :banghead: I'd have been a good 3 seconds faster than my nearest Div. 2 competitor...)

Done.

Had a lotta fun with this combo. Started off putting all the cars on the same tires (RS). Thought that would be the fairest thing to do. Had some trouble getting around the CLK before the lap 4 pit (the CLK pitted on lap 4 too -- and he crawls down the entry costing me valuable time). But unfortunately there was some questionable incidental contact so I gave up on equalizing the field's tires. But by far this produced the most entertaining race. I could tell I was better than the CLK but I knew I wouldn't be able to make the pass stick until his tires wore down. 118 a-spec points, I think.

So then I "cheated" and put the competition on RSS while I used the RS tires. This forced a lap 2 pit for the CLK and gave hime no chance of winning and guaranteed me the victory. Also helped get him out of my way. Oddly enough 141 a-spec points. More points for an easier race? So I caved in to "fair play" with the AI in favor of a strategy that resulted in a better time.

My times don't appear very competitve but as I haven't seen much from the D3 crowd I list them anyway.

L1 = 2'46.054
L3 = 2'41.253
L5 = 3'11.036
L7 = 2'42.325

11'20.668?

I know I could lower the time a little. One of my questionable attempts had a best lap of 3'09.703 which was just over 1s quicker than the quickest lap in my above listed final entry. But my final time was a little better than 3s quicker overall.

Anyway, hats off to the management. I really enjoyed this event. Thanks & well done.

Crikey, I've got some catching up to do.

Be back when I think I have worthy time.

Don't wait up?

I've lost the spirit :( after a couple of hours practicing I just did 7.75 perfect laps...then......on the tricky right hander after T5 on the last lap I came in a little too deep and had to brake hard to make the corner, the Toyota 7 I had just overtaken then proceeded to pole-axe me off the track :( :( :( :( :( I don't know if I have the energy to try again, very very disappointed. If the makers of GT are reading this....work out your stupid friggin AI! If you need help, I'll make myself available, I could certainly improve on your Absolute Idiocy

Sorry, didn't mean to laugh, I thought it was just me that had given up hope. Just spent the last two hours practicing and only managed one clean race and that was slower than my other two clean attempts.

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Well I was pi$$ed off last night that's for sure, but I persevered for another hour or so and finally got a better race, beat that previously mentioned good race by 0.1 through consistency. My lap after the pit stop wasn't too crash hot but all the rest were sweet 👍

Lap 1 - T6: 2'46.326
Lap 3 - T6: 2'40.118
Lap 5 - T6: 3'09.010
Lap 7 - T6: 2'40.433

Board Updated

P.S. Please tell me this isn't two weeks :(

no, deadline is still tuesday... and this is the toughest WRS that i can remember... requires uber concentration... i was actually tired after my race last night... i mean, tense, i couldn´t blink... didn´t get the splits, but at least i´m thankfull that i have a submittable time and its absolutely clean, no worries, just like a real race...

i mean i like the combo, but i think we will have 10 or 15 submissions at best... because its a very tough race, the car is unforgiving, and if you miss a brake point, you´re dead...

i went with AI at +10 they don´t get in your way after T1 in the first lap, so you can have almost 8 full laps without running into the AI...

I still haven't gone a full race yet. Tried it right away and played on hard tires thinking that a no-stopper was okay. Oops.

I'll probably try it tonight if I get a chance.

I'll submit SOMETHING.

-SHig

well i went for a session but me pedals are ****ed, will need to repair them so i can submit a clean time which i havent even got yet, but from memory i was doing

T1 59.1xx
T6 2'37.xxx on the hot laps, using 400km top speed, using AI at +10 and on mediums, thats better than putting the bastards on hards. as u only meet up with 2 of them again on the main straight
so u get a bit of drafting action

Here are my newest splits:

T1: 2'45.517 (Caught a couple of GREAT drafts!)
T3: 2'40.580
T5: 3'08.690 (with pit-stop, of course)
T7: 2'41.016

I just can't seem to get a 2'39.xxx on any laps' T6 time... I know I can consistently get a 2'40.xxx though -- I just have to work a little more on it.

did a race

2'44
2'38
3'05
2'36.8xx (great 7th lap, best of all of them)

my 4th lap i struggled due to tire wear, the next stint i conserved tires and lost minimal time on 8th lap, time submitted

Nice work Dan as usual 👍 ...as for me I went with a new strategy and I found 3-4 seconds, it meant my last lap was tough work round the final 4-5 corners but the rest was sweeeeeet:

Lap 1 - T6: 2'45.174
Lap 3 - T6: 2'40.412
Lap 5 - T6: 3'07.580 (This is actually Lap 4)
Lap 7 - T6: 2'39.525

Leave it to Holl01 to shatter our week-long delusions of grandeur. :sly:

I just realized that I didn't mention anything concerning the race deadline after the poll was closed. The majority voted for a normal 7 days duration, so that's what we'll do.
Submissions are due as usual by this tuesday 9pm GMT, and I'll probably post the next race on monday.

Flat-out

Thank you! I don't think I could handle another week of this, I've just done another two races and my eyes feel like I've just driven the actual circuit in an LMP car with the visor open!!

Splits coming soon. Don't worry people, they're not gonna break any records but it's all I can manage for this week! :(

Edit: Aaaarrrggh!! Why is there no friggin rewind button on the replays?? Just missed T6 split on lap five for the second time. 🤬

Edit number two:

Finally, T6 times,

L1 2'46.134
L3 2'40.740
L5 3'08.151
L7 2'41.537

Not great but, at least I'm trying right?

hopefully i'll get another chance to run this monday night, had several seconds of mistakes.

Top noch combo, most fun i've had in a while.

2'44.359
2'39.101
3'06.890
2'41.310

btw, i think i'm D1... been a while since i've had the time to run here. :(

With times like that, I sure HOPE you're in Div. 1! (Your T1 time is .640 seconds faster than Holl01's!) Your total time of 11'11.660 puts you almost 4.2 seconds ahead of me. (I'm currently leading Div. 2, but I'm sure BallsToTheWall is practicing hard! :sly:)

I seriously doubt I'm gonna get another 4.2 seconds out of this combo. So I really do hope you're not in Div. 2. :)

Yep, you're Div 1...you were promoted back here. Just moves me closer to the bottom of Div 1 this week :sly:

Was just for the first time reading/skimming the thread... Stopped before I read the last couple of pages, cause it's getting late. I think I have an idea of things to try though. I'll give it two hours, and submit my cleanest(enough) fastest race... I have no clue where I'll stack up. And this is only if I have the car... Haven't looked yet, but I think I do.

Time submitted 👍

Don't worry Andrew, you can have this one. I'm not racing another couple of hours for .8 of a second.

Well I'm submitting my time (yeah you got me Casio....again!) I've been setting up my new PC all afternoon/evening, it's sweet, but time consuming :indiff: Anyway, hopefully I'll be fully operational in a day or two 👍

well, i had some runs last night and got a clean good race just before the deadline. didn´t submitted my fastest time, because i´m not sure it was clean...

left 7 seconds of what i consider a perfect race... almost break the second barrier i was aiming for, but not this time. anyway, we should do this more often in WRS, it was lots of fun and races are more like a real life thing... just hotlapping sometimes is boring...

overall, great, great combo. i hope i did well, altough i didn´t had my 2 weeks to race...

watched my replay, but forgot to write down the splits, sorry:ouch:

Sadly, I don't have the car unlocked, so I didn't manage to race at all this week... :guilty:

I know, I know, I should've checked earlier this week so I could get that taken care of, but I was spending time doing other things in RL, and then I had to do JGTC all day saturday to catch up with that. Haven't played yet since then... :guilty:
