I'm still collecting invisible walls on a regular basis but I finally managed to improve my times (T1 and T3 anyway) and it was clean. :)

T1 - 18.801
T2 - 46.245
T3 - 1'19.532

Managed to keep the speed up to the end and improved my lap by 0.6 seconds. How you D1 and D2 guys go so fast is beyond my understanding. :boggled:

Ah! Now I see my problem. And all this time I've been relying on loud swearing and throwing the DS2 at the cat. :)

Yeah, I used to do that, but this way it's much easier and less stressful on the cat ;)

Nice T3 Kenny...
I'm hoping to get around where you are right now. I have tonight only to run laps, but I have a couple hours to go yet.

T1 - 18.444
T2 - 46.152
T3 - 1:18.944

Should be fun. I'll check in later and post what I end up with.

Thanks and good luck :)

My cat is resting unsuspectingly next to my PS2 as we speak

Edit - I just knocked off .24 or so off my time

T1 - 17.674
T2 - 44.250
T3 - 1'16.175

My T3 is great but T1 sucked, and just before the end of the lap I *nearly* lost it so I can for sure tack off .6 with the same given T3

Edit again! I just knocked off .2 but with a T3 of 1'17.002 so yeah I know I can still take off about a second...

Took another .4 off my final time. Heres the splits (clean):

T1 - 0:17.393 (had hit a 16.853 at one point)
T2 - 0:44.130 (didn't hit the transition from road to gravel well )
T3 - 1:15.841

Can definitely take at least another .5 off, maybe a full second.

had a go earlier and managed this:

T1 16.799
T2 42.882 (personal best by a long way)
T3 1'13.701 (made one mistake exiting the corner b4 this split)

had a 1'13.442 once, i couldnt believe it and as a result i fluffed the next right

finishaed really good

i'm really happy with the time, i will never beat it so i'm going to submit it soon

LAMENT FOR A CLEAN LAP

'Twas taken to the cathedral on a bright Tuesday morn, to worship the gods of speed in twisty gravel bits of nature's best work.
Taken we were by a good natured lad that goes by the moniker of CFM by quirk.
Led we were, follow we did, 'cause little did we know that Todd had become a monster!
Surely you jest! Not Todd! Not the Super Mod!
But yes you see, poor CFM had been sorely Vexd. His sheep had wandered and gone astray, so lead them he did to a fairy hell full of switchbacks and sandtraps and INVISIBLE WALLS.
"Enjoy" he said. "Have fun one and all! Drive with abandonment if you wish. I have but one simple rule that shall be required....NO WALL TOUCHING! NO WALL TOUCHING! NO WALL TOUCHING!"
So therein lies the genius of the purgatory we all must suffer for sins committed.
It is well proven in the chatter of the thread, that twisty gravel bits, driving with abandonment, and NO WALL TOUCHING are by themselves wholesome and hearty entertainment.
But beware! For the diabolical genius that combines the unholy trinity is leading his sheep not to the shaded glen, but to the slaughter!
There is nothing to do but lament, repent, and serve the penance that is due, for CFM will not relent.
So beware all noobs and vets and wandering pros, for the siren's call is spoken with a Korean Accent, and the driver called Todd is hellbent for vengance on the gentle trails of Cathedral 1.

T3- 1'17.198 DIRTY!

Good job, you're in the top spot for posted D3 splits 👍

I tested 210 max speed yesterday and already noticed its potential
T1=17.2~ but i wasnt able to improwe on ma T3 so I dont have any new T times to show.
I have a question - do you people ever use hand break during rally race ?

You bring up an interesting point.

In GT4 for some reason the emergency brake just seems to kill the revs or something, so I never use it. However on the paved left that is shared with el Capitan, I tried it and it didn't come with the adverse effect, so it could be beneficial this week if the car is understeering 👍

Thanks for the kind words kenny! You are quite fast yourself!!. I have really enjoyed this weeks challenge!

I have not used the e-brake in any of my good laps. Ive played around with it some but it does not seem to evoke too much oversteer so for me its detrimental

Think I'm done for the week here. Almost every flick was inches away from the wall yet, it was a perfectly clean lap, and 1sec faster overall. Hopefully it'll be fast enough for a top 5 finish by tuesday... :sly:

T1: 17.392
T2: 44.141
T3: 1'15.675

Wow, I just realized it's 4:38am here in NY... :scared:

I've used the handbrake as well..helps to have a real one and not use a button....and I have noticed that the car doesn't have the same affect as in RL where the backend whips out and produces a lot of oversteer...

It just seems as if all 4 tires just lock up and keeps the car sliding in the same direction it was traveling before the brake was applied and drops the revs a lot as well! :-(

Oh well!

As for where to set the speed at, I'm actually getting faster laps w/the default setting then going to say either 210 or 220 as what has been mentioned before...MMM..wonder why that is?

I'm not going to enter this weeks race since I have exams on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week and I need to revise loads because I havent done any yet :scared:.
Anyway, good luck everyone and ill drop in on tuesday to have a look at the results.
Matt

Hi holl01
You have a nice T3 👍

The short asphalt sector in T2 is my handicap :ill:
But I hope to catch You :)

Hey all,

I'm baaack!
Like anyone gives a crap.

But I am back and ready to race.

I put down some laps last night and getting a clean lap at the speed I was racing was hard. ;)

1'23.??? T3

Looks like you guys are in some trouble. :mischievous:

Can't wait to try and work that down to a 1'22. ;)

For real though, those are my times and with any luck I will manage to not lose my D1 rank.

Hear that Creepy Farmer Man!
Don't demote me just yet, I may have a few tricks up my sleeve for next week... Well, maybe not too... but hopefully I will keep up with mid-pack D1 racers.

Welcome back, Kent 👍 Good to have you :) Vexd and I are racing for last place in D1, so don't go and mess it up for me, alright? :P ;)

It'd be awfully cruel to demote you to D2 after this week, wouldn't it? The rally physics take forever to get used to...they go directly against every rally game I've ever played. I've been driving for about 2 hours every night and I just figured it out last night and was able to put down a clean lap with quick T's.

Good luck! There's always hope that next week's race will be on asphalt!

id be worth more than CFM life for him to demote Kent.

Mod VS super mod *gets popcorn*

hehe

Welcome back Kent

Hmm here are my new splits:

T1: 0:17.126
T2: 0:43.927
T3: 1:16.000

I know there is atleast another half second all around. So im still not happy, but I am having fun!

17.528
44.271
1'16.519

I did have a T3 of 1'17.1xx but with an overall time nearly a second faster than this lap by taking the sweeping right-hander before the bumps flat-out, but the lap was dirty from T2.
In fact, I find that when I know the lap is dirty from an early stage and I continue it, I can just relax and I drive much less cautiously - much smoother. Bummer.

And I think I broke my finger by hitting the chair in a rage after the 593rd failed lap. Its swollen and turning a disturbing colour. This game is dangerous.

Not if I have time to get a run in! Last place in D1 buys the beer this week.:) My wallet feels lighter already.:ouch:

I've been playing around with this one over the past few days, certainly nothing like GT3 rally that's for sure :(

I managed a decent time last night and I hope to improve if my luck holds out for a bit longer.

T1: 16.911
T2: 43.589
T3: 1'14.591
