im happy now ive droped week 2, that was a bad performance.

Thanks for the update cyril 👍

I was talking to dad and we have an idea for your leaderboard.

Divide our points by how many races you have done, while still using the best 6/8 rule.

Example

Small_Fryz runs 8 weeks and gets 35, 30 , 35 , 60 , 20 , 15 , 35, 45. Drop my worst 2, (15 and 20) add up the rest (240) and divide by 6 as thats how many races i done. (40)

Large Fryz runs 4 of them 8 weeks. 25, ns, 25, ns, 30, ns ,ns 40. Drop the worst 2 (ns, ns) so add up his points (120) and divide by 4 as thats all he ran (30).

If someone submits but doesnt get any points you count that week as a submit. So taking Large_Fryz example with submit but with no points it would be like this.

25, ns, 25, ns, 30, 0 ,ns 40. drop the worst 2 (ns, ns) add up his points (120) and divide by 5 (24).

This may seem confusing but all your doing is dividing the current points by how many races you have entered.

I dont know how troublesome this will be for you cyril, but its just an idea, this way it rewards consistency as well as giving you the option to miss weeks and still be able to stay near the top of the leaderboard.

What are you guys thoughts??

...this way it rewards consistency as well as giving you the option to miss weeks and still be able to stay near the top of the leaderboard.

The quoted text is exactly the reason why I won't do such a thing, though I find it a nice evolution of the current calculation system.
As stated in 'Promotions and possible changes', people pay to much attention to the points and forget that this is all about racing, not about ranking.
Don't race for several weeks/months if you don't fancy racing, come back when you're in a racing mood, that's what the WRS has always been : en-ter-tain-ment.
Ok, you'll drop on the board ...so what ?

What will be the next step of this addiction ? When will someone consider a divorce as a solution to stay on top of the leaderboard because these dumb wife/husband and kids require too much time and money which could both be spent on gaming ? :dunce:

Sorry mates, no changes will be made to the board in a close future.

I have no problem with the board atm, and never have. Im not fussing over it and while i try to be consistent its not the be all and end all. I merely suggested this as others have been cracking up about it, thats all.

I hope thats not aimed at me mate, i was just putting some suggestions out there to see what the general WRS dudes thought about it ;).

Unfortunately, your idea's got one flaw, Dion. It favours people who race less.

Take D1, for example. If a driver A runs once, and wins he'll have 75 * 1 / 1 = 75 points.

If driver B runs 8 weeks and scores 3rd each week, he'll have 60 * 8 / 8 = 60 points.

Driver A can't possibly gain anything from running again. In fact if he's runs again, he's more than likely to loose ground (ever heard of Gambler's Ruin? it's the theory behind why casinos always win - if you keep playing, you'll always lose).

If points were the utmost in someone's mind, they'd run each week, and only submit a time when they were pretty sure they'd get a win :yuck:

That's only through week 7, tiger. Wait for flat_out to update it later today or tomorrow and you'll be in there. I've done the Division 3 one, but I'm not posting it until Teledriel looks it over (I had a problem with TeamLosiRacer and Bauknin).

Is the leaderboard being dropped for a bit, or are the powers-that-be who update it just busy this week?

Can I be added to the leaderboard in D2? Just tell me if I need to do anything further. Thx dude!

Try asking it very friendly, sometimes it helps. ;)

Flat-out Almighty is currently 1,200 km away from home, and working from 7am to 2am. But I do follow what's happening on the forum and I'll try and have the board updated by friday.
👍

A few days late, I finally had time to update the board with results of week 8.
Hope you didn't miss it too much.

I just need now to buy a new PS2 to replace my dead one before I'm able to play again. :(

This week I could update the leaderboard on schedule.
Since week 1 rolled out of the calculation, (only 8 weeks are taken into account, remember) we see this week the first 7 racers who disappear from the board (marked as 'OUT') : they haven't scored anything since week 1.

See you at the track when I have bought a new PS2, but Mrs Flat-out having to go to the hospital tomorrow, that won't be in the next days...

Well I would like to openly thank flat-out for his work on this, looks great and hey, I'm even on the list now :) Much thanks and respect man!

Thanks Jump_ace.
But all the credit has to be given to the people who actually race and submit, which provides me with times to use on the board ;)

Glad you didn't add your point score into your sig...

See you soon at the track.

This is probably off the subject, but I was reading through the week 11 thread and noticed that someone had this thread linked as the official WRS leaderboard.
They also had luxy's work labeled as the provisional leaderboard.

I found both of those names to be odd.

For one, I didn't think either was "official".

I thought both were created by fans and run by fans. :dunce:

I also thought that the leaderboard name fit with the leaderboard, where as this concept was best named as the "dynamic statistics."

So what happend?
Is this no long the dynamic stats?

Is there now an official leaderboard?

Anyway, I just felt like both of the concepts deserved credit for what they are.

This being an excellent thread.
That being an excellent site.

Odd thing about it...
I don't remember either being made official and both are so old that I don't remember either being created (they have both been around so long). 👍

Anyway...
Just seeing that term "official" got to me.

I'll be around so don't hesitate to address anything I've said in this post. :D
Later. :sly:

Btw, I don't mind either being called "the wrs leaderboard."
I just didn't like seeing one being called official and one being called provisional.

I Had that in my Sig,dont know if mine is the one you saw or not, but I saw it in someone else's sig listed that way,so I didnt know thats what it wasnt supposed to be labeled as that, so I put it in mine so everyone had an easy link to it from any thread that I post in.Now, looking back at my sig, mine actually does just say "WRS Leaderboard"

And to answer your question, I dont know of anyone posting an "Official " leaderboard.

I can understand your point, and agree with you.
I have in the mean time changed my sig to reflect that. I know that this was probably not personally meant towards me alone, because there are a few that have it listed the same way.
Thanks, Kent! :) No problem!👍

Hi mates.
The board (a.k.a "dynamic stats" ;) ) is updated with week 10 results, and strangely hot604boi and holl01 have the exact same points score, which puts both of them on the top spot !
But only one of them will remain at week 11 finish line. :D

I answered to Kent's post ^^ via PM, not to start a new debate concerning this thread's official/unofficial status. Thanks for not starting it again yourself.

The other good news is that I've bought a new PS2 and I'll soon know how much Natalya improved since she joins. And I must admit I'm :scared: to eat her dust for many weeks to come :ouch:
See you all at the track.

I doubt it man ... last couple of weeks for me have been a struggle :( I will, however, enjoy tussling with you :P

Thanks for the board update ... as sexy as ever!

(Lord, it's going to be funny to see how fast I drop down the second division!)

Hey Nat!

The wind makes lovely whistling sounds in your ears, free fall is SOOOO much fun!

NOT!!!

1. I'll enjoy tussling with you too, I've been expecting this for the past 3 months.
2. How can a board be sexy ? Colorful for sure, but sexy ! How can something square and flat and so colorful be sexy ? It looks like a portrait of Sponge Bob in a Harlequin costume.
3. You may drop and eventually vanish out of the board, but you'll have had you name on top of your original division and you'll have scored points for all of your 9 div3 submissions. That already deserves my eternal respect :knee down:

I was actually wrong : holl and hotboi scored in week 11 exactly the same points as they had scored back in week 3, so their total scores don't change.
Div 1 podium is crowded now, with 2 racers on top spot and 2 racers on 3rd spot.
This week's 10-lapper will be a good way to sort this out.

Just want to extend a formal thanks to you flat-out for your killer work on the leaderboard.

Board is updated with week 12 results.
Congrats to all those who move up a few spots ;)

Yay! I'm in second place and I've only done 5 races so far! Hehehe... What will come this week... I may have some time to put in a strong D3 finish, we shall see...

Thanks for the leaderboard man!

My goal is to hit the top 10 but I really have my work cut out for me this week, I mean its possible but it all depends.....do u feel the drama?
