Mhh it was unofficially announced since 2-3 weeks... there were no infos, no images, no videos, no advertising, no reviews, no gold status...

We all were sceptical but no one of us wan´t to think about an delay... But there it is... Life is going on...

*sigh*

That is an unbelievably naive way of looking at the situation.
Release dates depend on circumstance. There is no arguing that. They just do. Unforeseen problems in development change release dates around all the time. There is no arguing that either. You cannot plan for everything, and all release dates are always subject to change because you cannot plan for everything..

For christ sakes, when the release date (which was never stated as being tentative) is pushed back who's fault is it? Your argument is so jaded it's becoming border line ridiculous. I'm sorry but you have to point the finger at someone, especially given the circumstances (they gave an exact release date, and now they have pushed it back to an unknown date within weeks of the supposed release date). I think the fact that they are pushing the release date back this late (after 5+ years of snails pace development) due to the need for further polishing shows they were being overly optimistic (which is their fault) to say the least with the supposed Nov. 2nd release date.

*All this tells me is that you don't actually know anything about software development, or indeed, product development in general. Especially when you are passing such heavy-handed judgment when we don't even know why the game was delayed. You can not guarantee that things will go smoothly when programming software. It is impossible. To complain that PD wasn't able to iron out their problems by that point just shows ignorance, because you are essentially saying that they should have been able to plan ahead for something that couldn't be planned ahead for..

Ah yes, I'm the ignorant one  If anyone is guilty of being ignorant it would be Sony/PD for not letting it be known that their release date was tentaitve. But going by PD/Sony's track record when it comes to sticking to release dates, I guess that should have been a given (so I admit I'm guilty of being naive).

*Its not about defending PD. It wasn't even, strictly speaking, a response to your post specifically. It was more a general response to the overall sentiment in this thread that they should have simply released it regardless to honor the release date, and that not doing so was "wrong." There are two sides to every coin. It isn't a black and white "Sony/PD made a mistake" situation, because there would be negative consequences regardless of what action they took.

And you continue to ignore the fact as to how they got themselves into the mess to begin with.

Just thank your lucky nuts that Kaz isn't involved in rescueing Chilean miners.

I have to admit that I did find that funny.

tl;dr, you don't know what you are talking about. You've clearly never attempted to learn about the steps that are taken over the course of a game's development cycle, and since you don't know what developing a game actually entails, you are lashing out at PD because you think someone must be to blame. Not my problem. Have a nice day. 👍

Let's just all kill ourselves. Maybe that'll show sony to get the **** on with it!

I read this news and was pretty angry at PD, Sony, Kaz, and everyone who's working on GT5. Your post was hilarious, thanks for that :P

Edit: Seriously, this is ridiculous. Hope Codies patches up F12010 double quick because I think sales are about to go up.

No reason for a delay, none. Unless there redoing some vital part of the code witch i think is doubtfull if its still commming this year. So just release it and patch it later WTF....................

Exactly.:grumpy: This could really hurt Sony this time.:nervous:

I've been thinking...has Polyphony Digital ever released a Gran Turismo game on time? I seem to recall a delay for every sequel...even the Prologue releases. Am I wrong?

I have to admit that I did find that funny.

Are you really as naive as your letting out to be, or are you working for Sony Jeez

I`ve just given up the whole GT5, I cancelled my pre order, it just gets too stupid the way they run business at PD. Sony should put their foot down and demand the game out, it`s like they think Kaz is God or something, which he is not, he`s just a japanese guy with a lowsy sense of planning, goodbye to GT again!

Didn't you guys hear? GT5 is coming this HOLIDAY SEASON!!!

What? Why so serious?

PD and Blizzard are the same when it comes to game development, and both in the end come out with outstanding and unbeatable products. So, we all like to complain that we can't play it when we thought, but we all know we will still buy it and love what they have created for us. I can't wait for the reviews though, I really won't understand if it doesn't make the top 3 in GameRankings "All Time Best". GT5 appears to be nearly flawless already, I can't wait!!!!

Being a huge fan of GT/PD, but today, i have to admit the truth:

Looks like Forza 3 really is the "DEFINITIVE" automobile race game ....

Without any competition, and they've hold it for a year now, so that's enough to earn back their self-proclaimed title.

This battle has been won by default! Congratulations Dan and Turn 10/microsoft.

Next round:
GT5 can compete with Forza 4.

What exactly have I said do you find naive?

I'm quite curious, because, being in my third and final year of a Computer Science Bachelor's degree while also working on a second degree in IT, I'd really like to know what people who don't seem to know anything about software design think about software design.

Yea it isn't - next time don't bother trying to correct me with your nonsense.
So long as you don't post nonsense that needs to be corrected, I'll be sure to steer clear. 👍

And only last week, at a PlayStation press event in New York during the Comicon convention, visitors were digging into “GT5″ game demos, and representatives from Sony Computer Entertainment of America seemed genuinely excited about the game’s then-imminent launch in the United States on Nov. 2 (it was to go on sale in Japan Nov. 3, in Europe Nov. 4).

“We’re really close, but this was an executive decision that was made yesterday,” said Taku Imasaki, the North American producer for “Gran Turismo 5,” in a phone interview. “Realistically, we thought we had a good date. We’re not happy over here.”

Mr. Imasaki said the company “is shooting for it to be out by the holidays. You won’t see too much more delay.”

There was also speculation that Sony might not have sufficient supplies of the game to meet demand in November.

Seriously we were so close to getting GT5 ! and god know how long this delay will be ! but you can bet some money that GT5 will be done before December 25th , sony cant afford to loose GT5 in this season , PD will work overtime to make sure GT5 sells and now is the time to do it
