I don't think the delay will be too severe and that it will be out on the 23rd. I suppose Gamestop and other gaming stores knew about this.

Again, your ignorance is not my problem. I tried to discuss it, and you would have nothing to do with it. I'm not saying this because I feel some need to defend PD. I'm saying this because I know, from direct experience, what can happen when major setbacks occur.

Dude, I'm new here. But all I've seen you do all day is flame and argue with people for posting their opinions on the matter. Yeah, this whole thing sucks, but don't take your frustration or anger it out on people on this board. Stop making this personal.

A lot of other people here are in tech and engineering fields as well, so don't treat people like they are idiots based on their harmless speculation.

*cough*

Pay PSN+ to play GT5 ... forget it...

My busy life does not need that.

To right mate. I've already paid once for a demo off these guys.
You know what. I downloaded that of psn. If I'm not logged into the net it won't let me play my own bloody game.

The cheek.

I had a small prediction (pure speculation of course). But you recall the last E3 conference where Sony rolled out the Playstation Network Plus? Perhaps the delay is that they are going to force us to 'pay to play' GT5 online? Who knows but I can't stay keep from the piles of steamy Win in this thread

Jerome

That would be a step backward for Sony, they said that basic online will be free for normal users, forcing us to pay to play sounds like a play out of Activision's playbook.

@Starfirebird, you should use DMZ on your PS3. Helps with those annoying NAT problems, I don't even understand why these problems occur but they do seem to be related to the amount of traffic on your network.

I don't believe Kaz.

This guy, as good as he is as a game designer, has lost all credibility. At least for me.

"We can release when we want"... yeah and i can let the world turn the other way.

I don't really care anymore. It's done when it's done.

at least we will have the time to play the other major games. because with Gt out on nov. 3rd i wouldn't have played anything else....

It's just really disappointing.

Amazon.de was full of this rumors the last days. Even that the SE would cost 50 bucks more.
Now lets hope that is not true.

Now i guess NFS will sell like hot cakes :D

You keep stating the obvious - I already know major setbacks can occur, particularly in the software industry. But the problem is, when you put out a release date and can't meet that release date due to your own faults, YOU are the one to blame (which has been my argument all along). IMO your argument makes you come off as being as person who doesn't take responsibility for your mistakes or in PD's case, being overly optomistic with their release date.

When you tell someone you will give them back the money that you owe them on a specific date and can't do it because of some unforseen problem (ie. you lost it)...sorry to say, that is your own damn fault!

I'm optimistic that it will be released in December. If not then January is just around the corner and I will have TDU2 (Origionally slated for Sept 23 and would have held me till GT5). Prior to either release I will be working again after a 3 year hiatus so either way time will be going faster and faster.

Yes I bought a G27 for GT5, and I have been trying to buy a Playseat Evolution + gearshift holder and slider since I have had the money for one about a week ago but everywhere I am willing to order from has just run out of stock (That makes me smile as I think it is GT5 related and now everyone is waiting again).

My local EB games had a special for tekken 6 and guide new each for $9.99, I picked both up have been playing for two days. If that doesn't hold me and gaming is a must I might buy Fallout New Vegas which I was going to skip.

Delays happen and I know in my heart that the people involved are making the best decisions they are capable of so there is no need to harbour any ill feelings about the deley. Feeling them for a time is to be expected though.

Mine was from when I woke up and found out about this until this post, How long is your time?

I've been thinking...has Polyphony Digital ever released a Gran Turismo game on time? I seem to recall a delay for every sequel...even the Prologue releases. Am I wrong?

Nope, so why to change this in the 5th series of the game :)

Nothing to you japanese guys, it´s only a question. Is it normal in japan to be unpunctual?

I´m only asking, because here in germany it´s one of the most important things to hold what you say and never be late (to work, to date´s or meetings)

And I´m only asking because I´am turkish and there in turkey it´s normal to be unpunctual... You buy a new fridge and they say "we´ll bring it at 2:00 pm to your home"... You are waiting from 2:00 pm and your fridge is still not there at 6:00 pm... (I know bad example) They never can hold what they say...

So I wonder is this in japan also so? Because I know japanese people are very respectful people and I don´t think that they are so...

EDIT: But I must say if GT5 had bugs like F12010, they really can delay it for one more year because F1 2010 is ridiculous, I wan´t to slap that Blu-Ray box in their faces because that game is a shame... It´s the buggiest game I ever played in my 15-17 years gaming career... I sell my PS3 copy also... Unfortunately the game is on #1 selling spots and CM is making crazy money with that BS game...

I'm hoping we don't have to pay just to play the game online. That's the whole reason i bought a PS3 and stopped playing my 360.

I did the DMZ thing and also on my Embarq router the setting was at router instead of bridged,so i switched it to bridged and viola NAT Type 2.It was a very frustrating week to get it to work, but i finally succeeded 👍

That doesn't mean anything. Video game stores are the worst source of accurate release date information.

By the way, I checked the Canadian Gamestop site and they have a new pre-order shipping date of Nov.11th - neither is likely to be accurate at this point.

'A few weeks' will transpire to Jan 2011, which will invariably end up being March ... then it'll be the big summer release for 2011 and before we know it we'll be looking at next November! :\

Pre-Order cancelled, will not be getting GT5 on release day or week for that matter, not because it's taken sooooo long to make, but because Sony are taking the piss with release dates they have no intention of meeting.

It's almost like they announce a release date just to see how many Pre-Orders they can get, if they don't get enough, they cancel and make up a new one, this could literally go on until next year.

Lets face it, there's always going to be another game, be it COD5, etc, competing for sales, so the game may never see the light of day if this continues to be their attitude.

As I said earlier, it's because Sony beancounters want to reap biggest possible profit with this delay until christmas sales.. Nothing more, nothing less. Had it been Microsoft, they would had done the same.

i think sony is going to add pay to play to GT5. knowing GT5 would be such a hit. the revenue itself would cover their expenses(considering how playstation plus went). maybe a few hardcore gamers would pay. but if its 39.90, i would think twice. hell i would think a hundred times.

Riiight. That's why their game that competed solely with GT was actually still released on time despite these reports that talk about its poor sales.

The delay was PD's call, not Sony.

Sony stands to potentially lose money and show weaker Q4 sales that will hurt their stock prices and send their shareholders into a fury. Trust me, the last thing Sony wanted was a delay.

And that's why their product is STILL buggy and needed patches after patches to fix all the glitches they couldn't bother to iron out during production.

Yeah, this whole thing sucks, but don't take your frustration or anger it out on people on this board. Stop making this personal.
It honestly effects me little when the game comes out, so long as it does eventually. And none of my arguments are personal in nature.

A lot of other people here are in tech and engineering fields as well, so don't treat people like they are idiots based on their harmless speculation.
I would say that anyone with a tech or engineering background should know better.

But the problem is, when you put out a release date and can't meet that release date due to your own faults, YOU are the one to blame (which has been my argument all along).
The problem is that you are assuming PD missed the release date because of their faults when it could be any number of things. In other words, you are assuming that some shortcoming on PD's behalf directly led to the delay. We don't know that. It is possible, and PD is ultimately responsible for developing the game, but being responsible does not mean they are automatically the ones to blame when something does go wrong.

When you tell someone you will give them back the money that you owe them on a specific date and can't do it because of some unforseen problem (ie. you lost it)...sorry to say, that is your own damn fault!
We don't know enough about the delay for that analogy to apply. A better one would be: You borrow a friend's car. You get in an accident. Despite the car being your responsibility when you borrowed it, that doesn't necessarily mean you are to blame for the damages.

OK Time to add a little bit of fun here:

Come up with funniest reason you can think of for the delay:nervous:

Here's mine:

:sly:China didn't make enough of them "little cars" for the CE edition so PD delayed the release.:sly:

To Scaff I'm feeling your pain having to edit post I'm glad you are:tup:. Do you think this will be the top "infractions" thread beating out the "Funny picture" thread. I think it will!

Or maybe KY finally realized that "real cars" don't have a triangle button for reverse:lol:

I guess I'm saying it's broke.
Very, very polished yes but not working.
I don't think Sony are running scared of call of Vegas or whatnot.
I don't believe selling a £150 worth of game benefits from being released in December instead of November either.

I don't believe they come to a decision yesterday. The Russian rumour was a day before Sony decided to delay it.

I don't believe we will see it this year.

I don't believe Kaz.

Nothing is sure about the release date, all i'm saying is they didn't announced and showed us features before knowing the PS3 could run them close to 60fps, didn't we saw rain at Eiger with 8 cars and skids at TGS 10. Either way graphics can be scaled down when FPS drop, when you switch from behind to cockpit view in both Prologue and Forza 3 you clearly see the graphics being lowered, the tracks is less detailed, the opponents, etc.

Anyway, I firmly believe the november 2nd date was announced because Kaz was fed up of being asked the question over and over. We are, in a way, responsible for our deceit.
