And what people need to understand is that some perspective of the situation would be better than flying off the handle looking for something/someone to be mad at.

That's understandable, but news this aggravating isn't going to help either. The masses are simply a bunch of ignorant blobs (including me, you, and everyone else, ie. not just in this issue). See Hitler and the Jews. Gotta put the blame somewhere.

Bragging about your knowledge isn't going to help ease the aggravation. As I've said before, trying to see what PD is going through does nothing. They're a big company and I'm sure they can handle the pressure. You should just save your energy and let the complaining pass by.

If they say that they're going to release it on November 2, then release it on November 2. If not, then don't bring up November 2 in the first place, but put it on December, or next year or whenever. They failed to create space for error, and they're the one to blame. People complaining about it will be a natural reaction and a way to release their disappointment, no matter what they complain about or how ignorant they are. They don't need you, or anyone else, to protect them from this fact. I think they're mature enough to handle it.

He clearly isn't a perfectionist because he can't speak English for a start...

That makes no sense whatsoever! What has speaking English got to do with being a perfectionist?

Hi ****,

Just letting you know that our suppliers have advised us today that the estimated New Zealand release date for Gran Turismo 5 Signature Edition ~ PS3 has changed from 04/11/2010 to 20/12/2010 today.

Please note: As this is an estimated date only, it is subject to change.

Kind Regards,

What baffles me most, is that they would make a decision to delay the release, and not make a decision as to when to release it instead at the same time.

If the reasons to delay are so compelling, they ought to have a good idea how long it's going to take.

The fact that they have not instantly announced it, makes me suspect that they probably know that when they will tell the truth, the whole community will be outraged.

I hope so much I'm wrong.

I would say that if you are in the tech/engineering field that you should know the consequences of being late to a deadline you set for yourself. Even more so when hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people are waiting to buy your product on the date you yourself said it would be released.

Every single thing should have been thought up ahead of time on a project like this, and then every single contigency planned for. This isn't a start-up where oversight might happen, this is the top tier of international entertainment software development.
👍👍👍

Took the words right out of my mouth. If this guy was in the real world he'd be fired long ago. Kaz, you may be a nice guy, but frankly I don't care: a deadline is a deadline. You've let people down once again and due to the business you are in, you won't feel any real consequences this time, but you have certainly lost a lot of credibility. I hope the game makes up for this, after all this waiting, I expect it to be nothing short of epic.

So why does he need translator san to convey his message? Oh and who is the Swedish, Finnish, Italian, Spanish, Norwegian, Flemish, Latvian etc etc etc translator?

👍

I almost feel bad buying a game with all these letdowns...but what can I do as a person loving Gran Turismo. This is one of those Catch-22 situations hitting us, yet again.

That has nothing to do with him being a perfectionist. Maybe being a perfectionist in spoken language, but not a perfectionist in game design.

Well hang on... Why doesnt he need any of the other translators, just an English speaking one?

I'm not English by the way but I speak, read and write it fluent. If you travel anywhere in the world and try to communicate with the locals if you are redundant in the local dialect, then you FIRST try English. You don't go on a holiday to lets say... Portugal and ask them if they speak Japanese IN Japanese.

And while I'm not entirely certain but I am sure there are a number of people from different countries that can understand English and are reading this forum in English too. That may be just me though so cancel that...

I also specifically tried to discuss why I felt the reasons that I was stating were pertinent, but it didn't seem to me that anyone was particularly interested in hearing them.

People do have perspective on the situation, they have waited a long time for a game that has already been delayed previously and they are upset by that.

I wouldn't say the people responding to your comments had been flying off the handle, thats a bit of an exaggeration, but what I will say and what Time attack tried to tell you is ultimately if the game isn't ready then PD ARE responsible.

Companies have to work to deadlines everyday, if they dont make that deadline even if its due to unforseen circumstances, the company is still responsible, thats how business works.

Example- building company has agreed to complete a building by a certain date, but they dont make the deadline.

Result- building company gets fined for every day they go over the deadline, because at the end of the day they are responsible.

Fair enough.

Being a perfectionist and being perfect are two drastically different things, a confusion that seems to be at the root of this spat.

On a different note, it's being tossed around that PSN+ might be required to play GT5 online and that this is reason for delay. Sony said in the E3 conference that you wouldn't have to have PSN+ to play any games online. PSN base service is still going to cover basic things like playing retail games online! Even FF14 isn't going to be PSN+ only and it's an MMO. There is a different reason, probably a dumb reason IMO, but we just don't know what it is yet.

Sorry for my English in a advance. I hope the delay is not due to a serious problem. At least they should have given us a new date. Little Big Planet 2 was due this mid november and was pushed back to jan 2011. I really hope it is not much later than that. Unless some idiot ran off with the golden disk and is asking for a ransom. I don't know what to think at this point. Or they are trying to make sure that jailbreakers are not able to copy the game, just tell us, I'll have respect for that.

This delay is not funny anymore.

:sly:

I wet my pants on that :scared:

Hillarious

For thejailbreaker, MOH has already a new code which seems to block groove.

English is a well-known language internationally, and a good medium in delivering news around the world (since most likely it can also be translated in many languages).

if sony's title game for the ps3 is delayed because of Kinect, then something is very wrong with kaz, gt5, sony and pd.

I think if the delay is down to any other title or console peripheral its got to be c.o.d (which has over a million pre-orders in the usa alone!) gt5 has 250,000.
