it will come out this holiday season... they CAN NOT delay again... PD or Sony CAN NOT delay the game again.
er, why? It's not like they haven't done it before, they're now more experienced at announcing delays than releasing games
.
but if they delay the game again after this... thats the last strike... i rather wait for GT6 like someone else stated already... since they are working on GT6 already... which makes no sense... why start work on GT6 while GT5 is not complete??
People always say this, each time it's delayed.
The word gutted when I read this news is an understatement. However I do a theory why this might be the case.
Yesterday I posted a comment in the general discussion thread about a GT5 demo and how PSN plus hasn't been a huge success. I said in this thread that Sony have missed an opportunity because they should of released a GT5 demo for PSN plus members only. As the price of PSN plus (£39.99) is the same as retail games it would of been like selling GT5 twice!
So the delay MIGHT be due to Sony wanting to take full advantage of GT5 and use this to increase the number of subscribers to PSN plus. Im sure many would pay for this if it mean't playing the GT5 demo.
Wait... you're saying PD and Sony should be thanked for this delay in the form of money? If a PSN Plus-exclusive demo of GT5 were released, I'd make sure to not buy it simply on principle. I shouldn't be giving these people any more money for consistently failing to meet a deadline. They'll still be getting the pre-ordered CE money from me, since it's half paid and it'll still be the overall racing game I prefer on the system. But I can't blame people who are canceling their pre-orders. If I had another system or more widely-ranging video game tastes, I'd do the same thing.
I'm perfectly happy waiting, this game will be epic. Good ridance to those who claim they aren't going to buy the game now, clearly your patience wasn't the greatest. If this was some cheap PSN game that no one cared about, maybe waiting would be something worth complaining about, but considering this game is going to be good, the wait is always worth it. There just simply isn't going to be a game to compare to it.
I fully expect a release before Christmas.
Can I have your time machine when you're done with it, so that I too can know what the final product is like?
I don't think people canceling pre-orders are doing it out of patience. It's the fact PD can't be held to a deadline. Just now I was asked by someone in the chat room if buying it used would mean no money goes to PD. He wants the game, but he doesn't want them to get money from it. And I don't blame him. PD can't care too much about their customers; it'd be one thing if this was a rare occurrence, but it isn't. Hell, PD is the only racing game producer that has made a habit of selling glorified demos in the form of the Prologues, simply because they can't produce a game in a decent amount of time. Why not do something similar to show dissatisfaction with this situation? Buy it a few months later.
You fully expect a release before Christmas? Cool. So did a bunch of us... Christmas '09. Look how that turned out. I find it funny people are already posting new release dates from various sources... as if they matter any more than the Nov 2 date did.
I'm amused people who have apparently "waited 5 years" can't sit and wait a week or two. I very much doubt those who claim they are not going to buy the game are really going to commit to that.
I'm honest enough with myself to admit that I won't be canceling my pre-order, as much as I want to after PD's antics. Sadly if I'm sticking to just PS3, GT5 will still be the default choice for the overall requirements I want from a racing game.
The delay won't be for additional content, its too close to release for them to be altering the content of the game (or at least, adding to). I'm pretty sure the car sounds will be epic anyway
.
Epically bad? Probably, it's a GT tradition, after all.
Someone needs to be installed in a position of power above Kaz. For all the whinging around here about T10's head guy and some of the stuff he spews, Kaz' "it's basically done, we can release at any time" or "90%" comments are just as bad. Someone needs to keep him on a short leash and surround him with the Webster's definition of "deadline". Make it his phone's background image, his PC, make his alarm clock a spoken definition every day. Whatever.
The fact we might actually get Duke Nukem Forever before GT5 does have me laughing way more than expected. So uh, thanks PD!
