GT5 delayed

tl;dr, you don't know what you are talking about. You've clearly never attempted to learn about the steps that are taken over the course of a game's development cycle, and since you don't know what developing a game actually entails, you are lashing out at PD because you think someone must be to blame. Not my problem. Have a nice day. 👍

Yea it isn't - next time don't bother trying to correct me with your nonsense.

This is starting to be a joke, what polish, wich bugs, CoD Black Ops and GT5 don't share the same market, there is some overlap but those people will buy both games eventually in the next year at most. PD and Sony can do whatever they want, the absence of a demo on PSN when they had one at every show is dumb tho.

Seriously you guys have to argue about things that you have no power over? So what the game has been delayed, it's only the second official delay. It's more than likely Sony's decision, not PD. Sony does all the marketing and such, notice that there wasn't a Kevin Butler tv spot yet, also Sony just released Move. They don't want to draw attention away from their newest idea, GT5 is a big name release and has absolutely no Move compatibility. Not to mention big name games are coming out in early Nov, CoD is the main one.

No NFS will not be a viable hold over, you're better off playing FM2 if you want to be reasonably happy, FM3 is a bit of frustration especially if you played FM2 extensively.

I don't really care ad GT5 was my final game purchase for the year to begin with, so I really have no issues with the wait as I am still trying to finish off my collection of games I purposely do not finish. FF13, Just Cause just to name a few.

I remember when Gran Turismo 2 for the PSone was not going to make it for Christmas 1999.

Instead of getting mad, I got even and got my original PlayStation chipped and got the Japanese import version of GT2.

True it cost rather a bit, but I had a huge smile on my face that Christmas!

Seriously we were so close to getting GT5 ! and god know how long this delay will be ! but you can bet some money that GT5 will be done before December 25th , sony cant afford to loose GT5 in this season , PD will work overtime to make sure GT5 sells and now is the time to do it

That's a bet I wouldn't take, at least not with my own money.

Why is everyone so upset?

For those who know me, I really like Gran Turismo. All I pretty much do is play computer games...

What I can't understand is, how so many of you children (because you must be children) are showing more emotion about the release of this computer game, than most of the guys from the Chilean mine have shown once seeing daylight...it's astonishing!

I can sympathise, with those who have booked time off work and will now not be able to re-allocate it. But then, you seriously need to question your life if you're taking holiday off to play a computer game, in my opinion!

Who cares, when it's out it's out...maybe a week or two after it's released I'll go and grab a copy and play it in between other games (and rFactor).

Go and ride a bike, paint a picture, learn an instrument, do your homework or maybe do some help around your community. Anything that prevents you from getting so worked up about the release of a computer game can only be good for your health and others around you!

What do you think caused this delay? Is it just for marketing reasons? If not than what on EARTH could they possibly be fixing?! :(

No reason to even speculate, it could be any of a number of things.

Black Ops, bugs, more polishing, who knows. Anything we say is just a guess.

What exactly have I said do you find naive?

I'm quite curious, because, being in my third and final year of a Computer Science Bachelor's degree while also working on a second degree in IT, I'd really like to know what people who don't seem to know anything about software design think about software design.

So long as you don't post nonsense that needs to be corrected, I'll be sure to steer clear. 👍

Seem to know nothing about software design? You kow nothing about what I do, or others you have been discussing with hence your talking out of your ass! Now can you please stop!

Honestly I think the games broken. Plain and simple.

No demo has featured Full rain effects with night time transitions. Skidmarks and a full sixteen grid. Full level of damage, Smoke effects and all at 60 fps.

Short while ago slight frame drops were mentioned. What ever that means.

Think about it. Features that have been seen tend to be in isolation of each other.

I really think it's just broken down.

+1 From a child's perspective (I am 5 at heart despite my apparent age of 18)

Yeah, I'm a bit annoyed by the announcement of the GT5 delay. I hope we are not given another due date and then told once more that the game is delayed.

In the meantime I can have more fun with F1 2010, GTR2, iRacing.
:)

Here in the US, we did get GT2 in time for Christmas, and it was unfinished and full of bugs.

@ GTP rpm. The Chilean miners atleast were provided with psp's.
And the assurance the Kaz was not involved in rescue operations.

I had a small prediction (pure speculation of course). But you recall the last E3 conference where Sony rolled out the Playstation Network Plus? Perhaps the delay is that they are going to force us to 'pay to play' GT5 online? Who knows but I can't stay keep from the piles of steamy Win in this thread

So what you are saying is that, PD don't run the game internally to see wich feature can be added and wich can't, before putting it into the final build, making announcements about it, even worst demoing it? Seriously mate.

I highly doubt that, but if that would be the case, I would cancel my pre-order.

You are taking the side of someone who spent 5 posts talking about something in a way that anyone with direct experience with the topic in question (delays necessitated by programming bugs) would know is nonsense. That alone tells me that you don't know enough about what you are talking about to call me naive over it.

hence your talking out of your ass! Now can you please stop!
Once again, it isn't my problem if you don't believe the things that I'm saying. I felt that I've attempted to explain them well enough, only to have a typical response of "No, U" thrown back at me. I would happily try to discuss this topic, but I've been lead to believe that people are only interested in scapegoating rather than actually learning.

.

Maybe you should go work for PD when you get out of school 💡 - as you seem to share the same lackadaisical, it's not our fault if we put out a definite release date and can't meet it time and time again attitude.

Again, your ignorance is not my problem. I tried to discuss it, and you would have nothing to do with it. I'm not saying this because I feel some need to defend PD. I'm saying this because I know, from direct experience, what can happen when major setbacks occur.

I guess I'm saying it's broke.
Very, very polished yes but not working.
I don't think Sony are running scared of call of Vegas or whatnot.
I don't believe selling a £150 worth of game benefits from being released in December instead of November either.

I don't believe they come to a decision yesterday. The Russian rumour was a day before Sony decided to delay it.

I don't believe we will see it this year.

I don't believe Kaz.

"they are creating the perfect racing experience"

Wait, wait. PERFECT? No art is perfect. No Machine is perfect. No game will be perfect either!

For exemple: Your damage system is CRAP. It´s BS. Will you, Kazunori Yamauchi (and the rest at PD), make it perfect? Then make another franchise: PERFECT DAMAGE TURISMO or whatever! And we will wait for 2 or 3 years.

You promissed for the WORLD, Kazunori Yamauchi, thousand times, that THIS time the NOVEMBER DATE would be kept.

At E3 you said it for millions to see.

It´s that kind of respect that WE, that brings you MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars to your pocket, deserve? Yeah, it looks like.

Not to mentiong that it´s a pitty the mess you´ve done to the stores around the world. Thounds os stores accepting preorders and now thousands of people will cancelled it, AGAIN!

I´m waiting for more than 5 years for this game and when it comes out, I will not thank you guys at PD. I will still HATE YOU GUYS for keeping treating us like CLOWNS for that many years!

I will play and I will have fun, for sure, but will not admire you as a company that consider and respect their huge fan base.
Another delay as that is completely unexcusable. One more thing: EVERY DAY COUNTS. We are counting the days for too long. I hate you guys for this.

F.Off. the new release date. F.Off!!
