GT5 delayed

I don't understand why people always complain about lag. They can't fix your internet connection. Lag is caused by one or many persons in a game's internet to be "lagging"- slower than the others. We should never blame game developers or the game itself for lag, it's not like there is much they can do. One of the many retarded complaints about the big sellers like MW2.

Netcode.

I get lag with a 10meg line in GTP,nothing in bad company 2 etc.yet,I think they say 1 meg is fine for GTPrologue

Often the size of your pipe has less to do with lag than speed. Most people konw how many megs they get but few know how much their ping is to a server.

Ping is key for lag. Sure you must have enough bandwidth (but 384kbps up is probably enough for most games) but if your ping is poor, then you will get lag no matter what.

Think about your internet connection as if it's a highway.

The ping is works kind of like a speed limit. You can make your highway wider and wider with more lanes, and the more lanes you add, the more cars you can fit down it in an hour. Once traffic starts flowing steadily, your transfer rate is steady and high.

But if thes speed limit is low, it doesn't matter how wide your highway is, no car will get from one end to the other very fast and thus there will be a delay in delivering and receiving a message.

In theonline world, when there is a delay in delievering and recieving a message, you get lag.

bfbc has dedicated servers. GT5 is peer to peer. No matter how fast your net is, you will lag when connecting to someone across the other side of the world. I get shed loads of lag on bfbc servers because the fools don't have Australian servers so I have to connect to yanks. bfbc is unplayable for me.

Yet more reason to make me think this is realted to jailbreak protection somehow... apparently it's being reported MOH is already playable on jailbreak 3.41 consoles. By using something called Heremes Payload V3 I have seen it mentioned many places now you can play MOH on a jailbreak 3.41 PS3.

This is only became possible a few days ago... timing fits well...

Sony releases MOH to test their jailbreak combating firmware requirement.

MOH gets defeated.

Sony immediately reacts by putting the clamp down on GT5 release until they can impliment something better to defeat jailbreak.

Still entirely a theory...

That makes sense. If you are correct, I hope it is a quick fix.

I have so many jokes for this, but I will let them go :dopey:

ok im saying it again here we go
Time line
friday 1st oct
forza says there rereleasing there F.U.C at the end of oct

wednesday 13th cot
gran turismo delays the release of gt5 to the world until the end of oct

the now the facts

GT has been doing this for along time so the posibility of there being something wrong with the gam ethis far into production is imposible.

Why would you release your game youve been working on for the last 5 years 1 week or so after your biggest rival rereleases there game?

Its all about marketing and bussiness, I mean this isnt ps1 were you spend 6 months on a game and hope to make 200k lol.
This is the big times now were millions of dollars can be made or lost in a blink of an eye if a bad decishion is made.
Dont blame PD or sony say **** you forza for making gt5 hold out!!
remember forza is the under dog here and there going to nickel and dime gt as much as posible. I mean they did it to there own comunity lol.

IDK thats my opinion

I live in South Africa, sometimes when I find games with aussies, its lag free.but whats annoying is that its seldom with more than 6 people.GT5 needs dedicated servers because prologue is bad online. My ping is terrible, because we fall under SCEE here, and well I suspect, even when we sign in into psn,we would maybe sign in through a UK server.Which is stupid,we have a localized PS store and everything.

Oh well by the time we see this game next year we have already seen a teaser of next Forza and we are already talking about next gen and also teaser of Ps4 and xbox 720 is shown.

I'm really pissed even my friends are so pissed and they curse PD, Sony and Yamauchi. They all decided to save there money for Black Ops and Need for Speed. Gt5 is a joke, a racing game, imagine A RACING GAME, which took 6 years. I'm really angry right now.

Poor Sony that this November to December Holiday they will not have an exclusive against the competition. All multi-platforms which always looks better and sells better on xbox 360.

It boot but still doesn't work, only Sony knows what those error codes mean, 3.42 might be halfway hacked, maybe not even close, either way we'll never know. I'm still amazed how they can't even make up a story though, that leave place for rumors and speculations, like this thread for instance :P

Of course, its all PD's fault and not anyone elses? I like how everyone assumes to know what goes on at PD, who is to blame and why the delays happen. You don't have a clue, really, just quit trying to find reasons and just take it how it is - a simple delay that obviously isn't going to be a long one. (its pretty obvious the game is effectively finished considering the mass of screenshots, trailers and news about the game plus all the marketing...)

If people are cancelling orders because they think PD are lazy/"can't stick to deadlines", then like I say, good ridance as clearly they didn't play many of the previous Gran Turismo games...as the evidence is to the contrary.

Funny people claim this as repeated delays, when really this has been the first delay for anyone except Japan. Delayed expectations maybe, but then people's expectations on this forum are wildly unrealistic.
To tell the truth, what irritates me way more than the delay is reading your tiresome fanboy dribble. :dunce: No doubt you'd be singing a different tune if this was any other game - especially that other racing game.

So my day has just been grand! First GT5 is delayed, and my PS3 now has the dreaded flashing red light! What a great day today was for me. I am going to try and fix my PS3 myself, though, as it looks pretty simple, after some research. I just hope I don't lose my saved data in the process. If I do, I guess I know what I will be doing until GT5 gets here. I will have to restart GT5P, and get all the cars again, and complete the game again.

The idea that a re-release of a year-old title, on another console, is enough to move what even Sony execs refer to as one of their most important launches of this quarter, is absurd. Obvious troll/fan-boy is obvious.

And learn to spell, we have plenty of members around here that speak English as a second language better than this.

PD FTW!!!
:gtpflag::cheers::bowdown:

I am sure they will exceed our expectations.

They also do. Expect a release date, and BAM! Surprise!

:)

Man. And I was so looking forward to the 2nd. I mean C'mon GT5 and McRib coming back both on the same day! That would have been stupid awesome! What a bummer. I will cry on my McRib on this day.

I am doing that right now, just got B licenses with all golds so far 👍 I'm tight about the delay, but the game will come so just got to be patient. Its hard to get upset for me at least because I do not know the reason for this. It would be cool to know the reason, but I doubt we will ever know. Ughh I will just go to Game Stop and play the GT5 demo there. Sony, PD please give us GT5. :)

As long as GT 5 doesn't become vaporware ala Duke Nukem Forever, then announce a release date some 9 years later I'll be happy.

I have to say im glad, I used to be a Forza fanboy but when Forza 3 came out it was rushed and immediately needed patch after patch(I think it had three before it was 2 months old?) which frustrated many. Forza had come a long way in 1 and 2 but 3 just stopped really. I must congratulate them on the painting and multiplayer which is quite good but there are so many problems outweighing the good things and it was the rush to finish that did it. Now they dont even listen to their community which was their main strong point. That and releasing the stupidest DLC cars(4 Audi R8's? WTF). I dont have a PS3 yet but im planning to get one with GT5, and if you notice my name you will know what I will be doing. Not painting cars to look like Kei cars as in Forza, but actually driving them :D

I doubt it's a content problem. It's too late in the production to do that. The game SHOULD have gone gold already, if not this week sometime, so I assume it's a marketing or packaging problem. If it was a content problem, it would have been found a long ago. Content has to be 100% done now.

I think the delay may involve trying to keep the game as close to 60FPS during any situation.

I highly doubt this, as that would mean going back and testing and rebuilding parts of already finished material. Only major things would setback the game at this point. That would not. Kaz already said the only time the game will drop below 60fps is when there's alot of cars on screen interacting with weather and effects.

^ Production delays are the one reason I find more acceptable for a delay. Odd that Sony just couldn't say that in their statement earlier, though.

JGW
Um, Duke Nukem Forever.....10 or so years and counting.

Well now, since so many people are quick to jump in that GT5 has only had one major delay world-wide (2 counting Japan's March 2010 slideback), saying there were never any concrete dates given all the years before...

how many solid dates has DNF missed?

Note that I was only answering his question. He asked if any game had more delays than GT5 (regardless of how many GT5 has actually had). I gave him the legend, myth, and vaporware extreme example.

If manufacturing was the reason for the delay, it would only take a extra couple weeks. There's definitely more to it than that, especially judging from KY's tweet.

So, after reading the first half of this thread (and the last five or so pages), I have a few observations.

40% of the posts came from established members who are pretty calm about everything and are moving on like most adults do.

40% of the posts came from members with under 10 posts who are extremely mad about everything. These members always seem to take the predictable "concerned supporter" approach. Spouting their FUD. Obvious.

10% Legitimate new members who are not pissed and established members who are pissed.

Anyway, I just wanted to share that...

On another note, the more I think about the possible reasons; the more I think we can narrow it down to these two.

1. Devedander may be right. It makes good financial sense and logical sense. However, this may not have been a large enough factor. Even if it did play a part.

2. More likely in my opinion, is pretty simple. The beta for the game has probably been done for months, but a few last minute adds between then and now has caused "unforeseen consequences". Usually this is not that big of a deal, but with a game of this size... I bet it was close. However, once you miss the "Gold Date", then things become imperative. And when setting up a release for the entire world... There just wasn't enough time to fill demand.

But you will say, "scope72, why not just ship what they have? It wouldn't be the first time I've seen shortages." That is a good point, but when you promise (x) to Gamestop for pre-order, (x) to Best Buy, etc And then you have to start calling those guys and setting up different allocations. Which then causes you to miss the "window" before the best selling game of the holiday season (COD), that is when you cut your losses and move to the next window. Which will allow the supply to be built to acceptable levels as well. And allow proper marketing.

a.k.a. due to the delay in the production process, we are going to wait until the week of Thanksgiving. If all goes well.

Also, if you made it all of the way through this post, then I am guessing you are part of that first 40%. ;) And can see the logic that I'm typing.

Good post to see through all the chaos and mayhem of today. 👍

Just keep your head up, and stop counting the days and GT5 will be in your hands before Christmas! /well hopefully!! lol
