GT5 delayed

Added to the above, thgey have already promoted it massively, so each day they don't add to it, they loose it a bit, and if its next year release, then a) they will miss crhsitmas b) casual gamers will play games from christmas not a new after christmas game and c) they will have to give all features away to build hype and so the game will be a bit of a dissapointment (bad for sales of gt6) and they may run dry

When I heard the news I was a bit peeved because I had built up a bit of excitement but after ten minutes I had calmed down. It's just a game, not something of actual importance. It's not like my employer sent me a message a couple of days before payday saying my salary would be delayed but I would get paid in a vague period.

The thing is, I have paid nothing for this game yet (Game.co.uk won't be taking the money out of my account until they have the disc to send out) so PD, Sony and KY don't owe it to me to release when they said they would. What they owe us and themselves is releasing the superlative racing game which will set the benchmark for years to come when it is ready and only then.

For everyone who is upset and threatening to cancel their preorders (or in some cases sell their PS3s!!), I'm sure you will be sheepishly returning to the retailers to buy GT5 when it is released or soon thereafter. Seeing as you are members of this site, I am sure you are huge fans and denying yourself the game will be an impossibility.

I personally am kind of thankful... I have been looking forward to Fallout: New Vegas for ages and one of my concerns was that being released a week or so later, GT5 would mean that I never played it properly.

Actually it's probably only going to be a few weeks, to 800 cars, lol.

+1 Those "standard" cars are a joke. If K wants the game to be perfect, all cars should be premiums.

I prefer 400 premium cars than 800 standard cars :)

Perhaps they have recruted a new sound manager also

<object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QXDNxkUiUws?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QXDNxkUiUws?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object>

people still can't wrap their heads around the idea of people liking more than one racing game?

The difference of course, is that one of the series is easy to point out the flaws, because it's actually playable.

+1

Oh.... my .... God! You have got to be kidding me!

Seriously!? come on... really? I cannot believe this baloney from the whole franchise and everyone behind it.

After the next microshaft console release I am going to be a Forza only man. I've been playing GT since the beginning, but this is retarded. What makes it worse is that an official release date is set, then renegotiated.... not to mention the whole baloney about standard cars, crap sound, wanting it to be perfect from Kaz, and then when it actually starts to come to fruition, they just refuse to move it on. Give us what is done, and let us play it. Work on the next one if you have to perfect it... start yesterday and maybe we'll see it before we're all grandparents.

I hope this is more appropriate than my original rage fest

I'm sure almost everyone feels the same way as you do.

However, KY releases it whenever he feels like it's ready. He has the game, so he basically has us in the palm of his hands. He can crush our hopes with a firm squeeze at any given time.

I'm sure you will still be playing GT in the future. Forza just doesn't compare to GT.... they have different goals and structures.

The less things change...the more they stay the same. I don't believe I can recall the release of a consumer product of any kind being delayed this long.

Thankfully my world does not revolve around the release of video games.

It should be a nice little driving simulator once they do decide to sell it.

The saying "Last straw that breaks the camel's back" comes to mind.

I had decided to NOT jailbreak my PS3, would rather play 1 expensive but good game compared to hundreds of free crap ones. I haven't updated passed 3.41 yet so have gone ahead and ordered a USB dev board. Gonna hack the living poo out of this box, and when it dies, it will not be replaced. I had nearly had enough when I was forced to choose between otherOS and PSN access/new games.

The love affair is over, $ony, PD, I am leaving today. Don't try to contact me, there is no chance of reconciliation. I wish you all the best for the future, but it's a future I want no part of. I will always cherish and remember the good times we had. I love you deeply, but I cannot continue to let you hurt me this way. I have already found a new love, her name is PC, she treats me well, has all your features and then some. Don't be upset, as they say, there are plenty of fish in the sea. In your case, 10's of millions, you won't miss me at all, and that's fine. This is not about you, this is about me, and what's best for me is to distance myself from you as much as possible. Take care of yourself my love, I hope that you make someone very happy someday.

Also, I slept with your sister Tourist Trophy, and she was a better lover than you ever were.

Mate this is funny.I really appreciate your sense of humor :)

More info about the delay from another source!

All I can say is thankyou PD, you've just allowed me some more time to do some extra crazy saving so when it IS released then it's all out shopping spree for me, regardless of when the release date is.....GT4 can tie me over if I need a GT fix, the PC can sort me out for Mafia 2 and other games. 👍

To all the people who are whinging, please follow TB's advice of going outside to play.......but I'd like you to play in traffic while you're out there.

Just thank your lucky nuts that Kaz isn't involved in rescueing Chilean miners.

 Best comment in the whole thread, 10/10 from the judges for that effort. 👍

My reaction on delay:

I doubt very much this delay has anything at all to do with 'improving' the quality of the driving experience. If, by any miracle, this is the real reason then PD has lost any respect I had for them as game developers. They have had years to get this game right and to announce this so close to release is unacceptable.

With just three weeks to go to the early November date, PD should have been boxing up the games to ship them around the world.

Any chance of finding a whistle blower within PD who can give us the real reason for the delay?

Production difficulties were to blame for the delay, said company spokesman Satoshi Fukuoka.

http://ca.reuters.com/article/technologyNews/idCATRE69D0R420101014

Do they mean making the discs?

I doubt it. When the Japanese March 31st release date got canceled, they also said it was due to 'Production Issues'. This is just BS terminology to not have to come up with a reasoning behind the delay.

Let's hope codies come up with some big patches for F1 2010 the coming weeks so that I have at least something decent to play with ;)

Which is the rather strange part, and makes you question how long the delay has really been imminent for.

I just hope right now PD, Sony working 24/7 to get this game done. That's all I want. No more adding, of new features or cars for now. Just testing and polishing the game :)

Obviously the game might still have some silly bug but at least they should make sure it does not spoil the overall experience. In the meantime they should show us some videos every week

Wishful thinking to be asking such from PD...afterall how many videos have we gotten from PD themselves in the past 5+ years

Its never going to be perfect dont they understand this all these delays are just building and building it up for an inevitable let down. No game is worth waiting this long by the time it gets released its going to be hyped beyond belief. This game should of been released 12 months ago

That's what I thought..

I hate to be a conspiracist guys but honestly I don't think the delay has anything to do with glitches at all. They probably just don't want to realease it alongside Call of Duty so the sales wont be affected and they just decided not to be direct about it, unlike how Gears of Wars 3 was openingly delayed to be out on the market at a good time to profit.

If the game was three weeks from being released I somehow seriously doubt that it wasn't already mass produced and ready to be shipped, unless they are going to recall a bunch of copies and reprogram them.

I find it hard to believe that it could be delayed due to anything other than marketing decisions or a problem with production - maybe they just can't produce enough of them in time to meet demand. Surely any software issue could be mopped up with a patch either shortly after release date or even on the release date itself.

Either way I'm right royally peed off with 'em. :grumpy:

I had a small prediction (pure speculation of course). But you recall the last E3 conference where Sony rolled out the Playstation Network Plus? Perhaps the delay is that they are going to force us to 'pay to play' GT5 online? Who knows but I can't stay keep from the piles of steamy Win in this thread

Jerome

They (sony) specifically said to us that they wouldn't make us pay for any feature we currently had, I.E playing online.

Alright so with three weeks left I was willing to hold off buying any new games till GT5 came out Now that its been confirmed that its never actually going to happen, I was wondering where my obsessive compulsive engeries should be directed. WRC? F1 2010? Black Ops?

To tell the truth, what irritates me way more than the delay is reading your tiresome fanboy dribble. :dunce: No doubt you'd be singing a different tune if this was any other game - especially that other racing game.

Fanboy? Not at all, I just know that GT5 is awesome. If I knew Forza 4 is awesome I would say the same, but I don't work for Microsoft.
Look, GT1, 2, 3 and 4 were all amazing games. Why is it so hard to believe that GT5 is also going to be awesome? Why is everyone so pessimistic about it? Why does a release date really affect how good the game is going to be?

I'm not irritated by your (and others) constant moaning, I find it immensely amusing at this point as you have no idea.

The more I think about it, the more I am convinced that this is all down to Sony and not PD's fault. I mean, look at what is coming out in the weeks prior to and after Nov 2nd - Fallout:New Vegas and COD Black Ops. Both eagerly anticipated titles.
I'm sure GT5 is sitting complete and ready until Sony give the go ahead for a release date, and that the 'technical issues' or any excuse made by KY are what Sony have told him to say so that they don't take all the blame.
Polyphony Digital and Kaz Yamauchi may be Gods in the racing game development world, but Sony are the all-time high rulers of gaming, period. What they say, goes.
