GT5 delayed

Funny, I pictured Yamauchi getting a look at the toy car that comes with the collector's edition and flipping out. "What?! You give me this!? We spend five years detailing every bolt, every wire, every detail of how each car will react in a corner, and it comes with this? The seats aren't even real leather! Not to mention the ratio of the rivets are completely off!

Weve got this guy that only works for FOOD & won't take his helmet off because his head is to big. :)

Michael Moore?

While true I always felt this is more a pedantic point than anything.

Then again, technically right is the best kind of right :)

Yes. Yes it is.

I wonder how many people bemoaning "so many delays" have ever read a Douglas Adams book...

When I went to Futureshop recently, I saw an official cardboard advertisement in the store in the PS3 section, stating that GT5 would be coming out on Nov. 2 and that you could pre-order it and whatnot. Additionally, in a Futureshop flyer dated October 15, it still said that GT5 comes out on Nov. 2, and that you can pre-order it. I saw this after seeing the news on the delay here on GTP.

I'm going to take a guess that it wasn't planned. But what's all this talk about firmware? I have no clue what that means. Guess I should reread that article on the front page.

No they didnt. Why do people over exaggerate so much here?

Only 20% of the cars in this game are done.

Which is still over 200 incredibly details cars. It seems like people use the 20% percentage in order to try to make it look like they didn't model many cars. 200+ fully modeled cars is still more than 99% of racing games out there. And that's not an exaggeration.

Actually if you pay attention to context that's not at all the reason he mentioned 20%... It was to refute that every bolt and wire had been meticulously rendered... Which they haven't... No exageration.

Nothing you just said actually changes my point, especially when taking into account that it's not the first time that he's said something like that. I've found that people tend to try to downplay the amount of cars modeled in GT5 by using the 20% percentage or by saying 1/5 of the cars have been fully modeled (which cygnus_zero has also mentioned before). And that's all I was referring to.

I made a bet with a friend on the delay, since no theory discussed here can be prove, unless PD or Sony make an official announcement, wich I doubt they will. I made the bet that PD came to a late conclusion that British Petroleum as one of Trial Mountain's main sponsor, and maybe other PD's original circuit, would counter balance Nascar and damage inclusion for the US market, especially if the media decide to make a story out of it. This is the safest bet I could come up with, since it is the only one I will be able to prove without a doubt if true, if the logos are gone I win 20$.

Don't believe that would be considered an issue in the first place ( as most oil companies or most multinationals in general have had their share of bad publicity, BP is no exception ) and even if it were it would be handled the same way as those Siena flags ( simply removed ).
Should they exclude Toyota in the US for receiving bad publicity?
Can't have a more questionable 'reputation' than the Nazi party, still 2 cars commissioned by them are included....

Oh and by the way British Petroleum has been renamed simply BP for a long time, the original name was 'brought back' but the US media to accentuate the British part no doubt.

I bet 20$ you will lose your 20$.

Well, to pay him 20$ Sony would have to publicly announce they delayed to avoid CoD Black Ops, seems my friend and I won't lose any money, because my wager is just as dumb, on the other hand i'm pretty sure you will owe me 20$ when GT5 came out.

I'd like to know why they need until the end of October to tell people what happened.

Ok, the release date is FUBAR. Fine. Tell people why.

If it is production, than just say, "Sorry, all, we need to delay release because a production date was missed."

Having to wait, in order to formulate a response I am guessing, doesn't bode well. I wouldn't be suprised if the release comes next year and the delay is more along the lines of either a game issue or the desire to compete with some other yet-to-be-released product.

Amen. I think they've been pretty dishonest with us. They give us time frames and dates that are unrealistic. I heard kaz say there wouldn't be any more delays and then 20 days prior to release they spring another one on us and not tell us why or when we'll actually see it.

In all of there interviews at events like e3 when pressed for answers we always get "i don't know" from the games creator or answers that are too convulted to understand. I'm so sick of them.

Apparently their going to give out the excuses next week.
Seems odd how they know when their going to explain.
Some think their actually going to announce a release date.

Time will tell as always.

Have they announced that they are going to give an delay explanation at the end of October??

Can't find anything on that. Does someone have a link or something?

Sorry guys, but I'm stunned that people forget that PD are people too. They work really hard FOR YOU at first. And how did you think that PD owe you something?Mehhh.Just stop blaming PD and let them do their work at it's best. You'd rather thanks PD FOREVER for what they do and not resent like kids. (all that "I'm buying XBOX with Forza 3 now" stuff.)

That's my thoughts about delay.Sadly my bad English not allow me to explain how selfish people are nowdays.Gimme, gimme, gimee...Pfffff.

respect ! I totally agree with you !👍

No just various rumours and dodgy sites.

They haven't really announced anything to my mind but I might have missed something.

Waiting for GT5 is like waiting for Duke Nukem Forever ..... You get it. Forever :sly:

I might be the only one person in the whole world who is actually enjoy that delay. December is much better date for me, much more free days to play. That Simple.

Ok, thank you.

I wished Sony or Polyphony would give us some news or details. I don't mind if it's really small like one new car every day or something.
Even close before the release(I think) they still have that secret "Don't let them know we even exist" thing going.

I heard the Polyphony Studio down in tokyo was just a distraction.
Deep in the forrest of Tokyo is where they actually work on this game. Some say they heard really loud engine sounds in the middle of the night.
