I know GT isn't even out yet, but I just had to think of the "next-gen-gran turismo" (PS4) when I saw this vid (pre-rendered intro of the new system 3 game-Ferrari:the Race Experience) and considering the newest videos of GT5, so what do you think, will it look like that?

Wow when games will look like this in the future, then goodbye reality

It´s interesting, never heard anything about this game but now it will be released already next week lol... The wait for GT5 was so endless and it´s really hard to wait another 40 days...

Did System 3 not announced a game that will have nearly as many cars and tracks as GT5 and so on? I remember, 5-6 months ago...

1.As I already said, only 12-15 Euros for this game, so...:sly:

2.Not sure, only heared about thier current game.

"exactly" is probably a bit of an exaggeration. And again, I doubt the car in game is literally identical to the IS-F they took around the track.

GT5 is incredibly realistic, but I'd want a third-party to verify the accuracy of something like that far more than the man who is trying to sell it to me.

Well, give it or take a few seconds\tenths\hundredths...

The SP8 class ("near production") car was fitted with a rollcage and a wing along with some adjustments (and a ton of stickers\liveries)? That doesn't sound like something that is hard to set in the game (whatever build KY played) and does not make the car a "near race car" (as Peter wrote).

I don't think it's too far fetched that KY (who drove the real thing, knowing his and the car limits in each section of the track) really drove a lap right there in front of Peter Lyon and carved a time close to his 9'48'943 on real life (and when pushing it in GT5, made a lap 10 seconds faster).

I mean, back to when Jeremy Clarkson took the NSX for a lap on Laguna Seca and achieved an impossible time (clocking 1:41 in GT4 and 1:57 on real life) because there wasn't any *risk* (and probably some disparity in the car itself), it produced a 16 seconds difference and that was a different game\less accurate physics engine!

tl;dr The evenness between GT5 and real life seems pretty good I say!

When you said he was giving it 95%, that kind blows the whole thing out of the water, it means had he been giving it 100% as he would in real life then he would have got a considerably faster lap in the game.

The physics I'm sure are pretty close to real life but as someone else said, I'd wait to hear from a 3rd party instead of the games developer.

Did you read the article? He gave it 100% on another go as well. He said giving it 95% in GT5 was equivalent to how he drove in real life, as there's less fear/concequences in the virtual world.

Lol, that's just it, you CAN'T push the car 100% in real life. That's why when he pushed the car 100% in game his time was 6 or 7 seconds faster than when he pushed 95%. His times when he pushed 95% in game and his real life lap was almost identical.

EDIT: sorry I misread what was being said,

I still would prefer to see it from an outside source, not becasue I think Kaz is lying but becasue hes not going to say the game is bad at replicating real life times, its his baby afterall:)

I suggested it, so thanks for agreeing :). Probably not a popular opinion around here though, because duh, Kaz said it, it must be true.

It'd be hard to prove conclusively one way or another how accurate the game really is because of the fact a real-life, completely flat-out run of the track just isn't possible. Only someone utterly suicidal would run with no fear at all of flying into a barrier, something we can do in the game with impunity. Kaz ran a baseline lap faster than his real life time first, right? Considering there are very few people who know the game's inner workings as well as him, it's not hard to imagine he knew how much to slow down to match his real life time. You can't measure his "amount of dedication" per lap.

It's clever marketing, and expected of any developer.

I didn't mean to come through as someone boasting the GT5 physics, more like boasting KY driving ability... :P

Plus, trying to match your real life lap time (or mimic what you did in real life) in the game is err, kind of *easier*, than trying to push\drag real life to match your game lap time (what Jeremy did).

Anyway, 10 seconds difference sounds good to me. If the game did hold you back from achieving something faster than 9'48'xxx even when pushing 100%, then I guess that would be as wrong as letting you achieve some really impossible (faster) times.

Probably not a popular opinion around here though, because duh, Kaz said it, it must be true.

Now that's uncalled for ಠ_ಠ

I see Kaz as a human being, not as a caricature. He is a man wholly obsessed with automobiles, like many of us, true, but he's also a businessman in the business of selling this product of his. One might say he is even more interested in selling it than the average business guy since he has put such a huge, huge part of his life into creating it.

Also, don't get me wrong, 10 seconds difference on a nearly 10min lap is still pretty darn close anyways. But I want to hear confirmation about the game's simulation from someone who doesn't have a vested interest in it. Same reason I won't believe every car commercial claiming the subject is best in class ;).

People complaining about the grass being slippery in GT5? Just wait till you try it in the wet :sly:

That series of 360 spins looks like GT5 :)

I just played the GT5 demo here in Portugal, very nice, loved driving the 458, the sounds are great IMO, the tv was really loud so i heard the engine noises very well, although there were some glitches, in some corners in the nurburgring the whole screen would turn green, and in the madrid track, when i was watching the replay from the last guy playing, When his SLS hitted a rumble strip, the car's nose just went straight up in the air, and he wasn't even going fast . .

Demo impressions

Well, I finally got to a Best Buy that had the GT5 Demo. The moron at the store knew nothing about what Rated_M3 had found (I went to the same store as he did). I had to tell them that I already knew that they had the disc installed on one of their PS3's. "Oh", he replied, "you must be talking about the PS3 SLIM we have over there" (points to another Set-up at the next aisle over). Sure enough, it was there I spent the next hour and a half standing in front of a 22" screen, craning my head upwards, looking at GT5, playing it to my heart's content.

The Beginning of the game has a screen that shows you several options. The Icons are similar to GT5P's. The only two options you could choose was the Arcade Mode and the Time Trial Mode. I started with the Arcade mode and moved immediately to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I selected the only available Nascar vehicle - #24 Jeff Gordon, clicked on the professional level and proceeded to start the race. Little to my surprise, I was all over the track (My being used to the wheel and not so familiar with the joysticks since I played NFS Undercover). I hadn't noticed that tuning was available until after I had started the race and looked like a drunk trying to control the car. I exited the race and clicked on the "Tuning" Icon. Eureka! There was the ability to turn on and off the driving line, adjust the level of driving (I automatically set it to PRO) , adjust the traction control, active steering, and TIRES! Well after discovering that I was driving on S3's, I switched up to get Jeff's car running on R3's. I re-entered the race and had a BLAST! The car handled much better, the Physics were very much like the GT5 Time Trials with the Nissan 370Z's that we had played earlier in the year. They were crisp, responsive and gave the appropriate traction that one would expect from driving a sports car IRL (Only this one had MUCH more torque and HP, LOL ). I DID try to "Pit" at indy with this car, but the Pit side of pit lane had fencing on the left side that would not let you into the individual pit lane slots. This, I am sure, is going to be a really nice feature in GT5, as they have delayed all information about the Pit Stops to date.

I also tried the #24 Nascar on the Time Trial Mode at Indy and turned a 0:51.43 for a hot lap (Good enouh for me! ). The timer on the Demo only allowed for about 2.5 laps, regardless of how skilled you were. It was simply impossible to finish a 3 lap race. The same held true with the Arcade mode as well. There were no "controls' for lap count or for active daylight/nighttime driving, nor did I find any "options" to change the controller settings/buttons in the demo. I did notice (for all of you Nascar Fans out there), that the car takes on the same "lift off going into the turn drift" as they appear to do IRL. I used this technique to take advantage of the driving line against that "pesky" Home Depot car, and the infamous M&M's car LOL. The lift and go technique worked very well on the IMS track, and I suspect that with the full game release, additional tuning options will be available to "personalize" your own Nascar Ride. It was a pleasure driving most all of the cars available in the game demo albeit some were more "needy" of driving skills than others.

Next, I tried the Merc AMG SLS at Nurburgring. The Demo spit up some pixel blanks and I couldn't see the track, so I exited and tried again (HOPEFULLY, WE won't experience this Glitch when the full version is released. I have a feeling that the demo was put together rather quickly for this kind of "dropout" occurring in a PD Game. The second time I tried the 'ring with the SLS, it was a RIOT! That car is shweet! I really didn't have too much trouble getting by the other cars and getting into the lead. Unfortunately, I could only run about 30% of the course before the timer stopped my race. The AI seemed somewhat "passive in the races I ran except for one - The Ferrari Enzo at Rome. When I ran that one, I had some "Nascar Rubbing" going on early on in the race. When I missed the apex in one turn, a ZR1 Corvette attempted to pass me on the outside of a turn. When I blocked his advance, he spun me out - much like Tony Steward did recently, So the Game definitely has progressed since GT4 and GT5Prologue - at least as far as the Physics and A.I. I also tried the 1969 Corvette Stingray with limited success at Rome although all of the cars in the game demo were "premium, there was no option to change the driving view (which was set in the "bumper Cam" mode. Knowing that in B-Spec (or Director Mode as we have seen it from the game shows), the A.I will be both passive and aggressive, it will definitely will add a bit of flavor to the racing.

The next race I tried was Tuscany. The options for that race were the Nissan GTR, or the Citroen C4. I Opted for the C4. The track texture feels just like gravel under the tires, but was surprisingly manageable with slight drifting techniques and feathering the gas. It is a bit forgiving, not like the Grand Canyon dirt course in GT4. The Tuscany Track was the only one that had day/night driving conditions. Yes, day to night was accelerated, probably more for the purpose of the demo, rather than a full 10 lap race (I could only get through about 1.8 laps on Tuscany before the timer stole my success against the car behind me. The Day/ Night effects are marvelous! when the sun sets, the headlights come on and the visibility shortens the length of you vision). Not so much as restricting your speed, as the map and the driving line still remained on (Let me clarify this - The Driving line was kept on because I was not familiar with the course).

I used the Nissan Motul Z to race with other Super GT's at Indy and found that they have pretty good responsiveness. I also Noted that The Nascar Cars were more adept to turning out better lap times than the superGT Series cars at the same track. It's a shame that they didn't have any LM Cars available to try out. Also too,( I might point out), that there was NO damage shown in the demo. Not that it was my intent to see how much "Mayhem" I could cause ( I'll wait until FatLeadFoot and Rick are at DSS Racing to find that one out, LOL ), it was just an important aspect of the game that I would have liked to have experienced and written about.

My final observation involved driving the Lamborghini Gallardo at Tokyo R246. Now THAT presented a challenge. The gallardo is a sled and is not cooperative to responding quickly to steering changes - or braking for that matter. I would say that a track like Daytona SS or IMS is mostly suited for this car - but with mods I couldn't put on the stock vehicle. Perhaps we'll turn this beast over to the tuning experts once the game comes out and let them "have at it".

All in all, a very well spent 90 minutes standing there playing the new Demo. I put the controller down and tried to walk away only to find that my legs were nearly frozen in place (I hadn't move them since I started up the demo - it was an intoxicating experience. My advice - Go out and try it if you get the chance - it's a lot like GT5P, but on steroids and with much better GRAPHICS!

As of this edit, Only a little more than 50 days to the release of this great title!!!

Cordially,

So is referring to the guy as Master or Sensei. There are people around here who literally dream about the guy.

I always assumed the term Master or Sensei was used ironically around here, that's how I read it most of the time anyway.
You know, a bit of a joking ( but not disrespectful ) title put out of context intentionally, are there people here who use that term to describe him without a hint of irony?
Oh dear.....

Well. The writer of the article also posted his times and there was only 5 seconds difference between his real world time and his time in GT5.

Sounds pretty damn accurate to me :)

@SlipZtrEm

I see. Still, just found that a little too harsh... since I didn't see anyone contestating your point or trying to make that article a proof that GT5 is perfect or anything like that.

While my original post may sound like "ZOMG he did it, he's awesome", that wasn't my intention as I complemented it with my second post ("not far fetched" and "easier to mimic real life instead of the other way around").

Of course it would be extremely nice to see someone else testing it out (their own real life lap times against the game and vice versa), but well, gotta wait a little for something like that :P

@Addict3d and CoolColJ

Thanks.

Ok guys could someone help clarify this? From what we've officialy heard, GT will be out Nov. 2nd in North America and Nov. 3rd in Europe and Japan.

So why so many shops are saying Nov. 5th for North america whereas the official US cite says 2nd?

And worst of all (for my region) why in the UK site it doesn't give a date at all?
It just say November... :guilty:

People complaining about the grass being slippery in GT5? Just wait till you try it in the wet :sly:

That's one of those things that's has frustrated me with other games, drop a wheel in the grass, amazingly to car comes to a halt.

It's funny that kaz knows that he was giving it exactly 95%.

How insolent! I would never refer to him by anything less than Kazunori-dono.

Is it really that hard to let people have their quirks? It isn't my bowl of hummus, but then I can get along fine enough when someone offers me a blessing from another being every time I sneeze.

Let us continue now, Herr Doktor Professor.

It's a figure of speech... something less than 100%

I love his perception of percentages, especially where they apply to estimations of game completion. :)

Chill out the dates are set. UK is 5th. I know this because I work in HMV and we've been taking pre-orders and have pre-release gfx up in our stores. :)

Okay, now tell the managers to do midnight launches ;)

Thought the latest news thread might like to see this.

From my local GAME in Lincoln, UK. Stores are obviously starting to organise midnight openings for GT5! 👍

There you go.
