I'm amazed we are not being flooded with hype to be honest. 1 month to go and we have no new videos or screenshots or hands-on previews online or off.

How does this compare to previous GT games in terms of pre-release hype?

I remember before E3 when people were guessing the release date and the consensus was oct-dec minimum, to allow 2-3 months for hype ect.......

I know kaz wants to save stuff as a surprise to fans, but i'm getting none of the buzz "on the street" as it were..........

If the Gamereactor article is accurate then review sites and mags will be getting review copies today. So that would explain why there are no new hands-on previews.

Sony recently said that GT5's launch will be a monster and the top execs from each region have acknowledged that it's the biggest product on the platform. So the marketing hype should start kicking in any time now.

I watched a gameshow yesterday and they had a brief mention of GT:
Vettel was the first to take a virtual spin on the X1on virtual Susuka and beat the virtual record on/at/under??? 20 seconds... (source Gameone.de)

Ohh i hope so. i also get my SE from france and don't want it in french (which i speak fluently) but i prefer it in english or german. Just the Apex book will probably be in french. Therefor my CE from UK

oh ya, completely forgot about that Apex booklet. Well then i guess i will pre order mine from the UK too. Even though i speak german, i prefere english :sly:

Can anyone recommend me a good and trusted UK site to order from?

Chris

I would have suggested Shopto.net for their certified mail service but they sell the standard edition only. Go with Amazon.co.uk or Play.com

There will not be an Ariel Atom in GT5 at launch.

And before anyone asks, I asked Kazunori myself.

whaaa, didn't kaz say there'll be no DLC saved for the preorder cars and other stuff they're gifting at launch?

He didn't say that there would be no DLC. He said that everything that he wants in the game will be there when it ships. But after the game is released the online department at PD will look into DLC. He's just trying to make it clear that they aren't holding content back for DLC.

Wish they'd hurry up and show some new tracks. I'm so sick of seeing 'ring videos I bet I'll hardly touch it in game for a while. Track has been done to death tbh.

This is what i have been expecting. 1 month just seems so little time (for GT).

If it is true that review sites have their copies today then sony better start releasing info before stuff leaks!

*crosses fingers*

What does that have to do with actually driving it?:yuck:

Seeing it in clips is one thing, and understandably its been shown alot, enough people ask for it, so PD provides it in its demos, but this is a totally new Ring than GT4, and I for one will not front and say I wont even touch it, cuz I will, even after seeing it countless times, I want to FEEL it (especially at night\dusk)

First thing when I get my Savanna RX7 is Ring time.

I have done a ridiculous amount of laps on the 'ring in multiple games. We have Monza, I want old and dangerous Monza complete with banking and I suspect it will be in the game.

or Spa :P

That's fine by me, the more Top Gear the merrier. :D

As long as their licence isn't or won't be exclusive in any way I'm ok with that too.
Competition brings better games.

I agree with both of you. I just thought it was funny. It scares me a little though because MS is a sneaky snake with acquiring exclusive rights.

I wonder if they will include the Old and Dangerous ring from GT4 as well. ACtually, any Ring in the Rain\snow is pretty dangerous, and exciting.

So the magazine was a fail, now I'm hoping for some leak-pics of the gaming expo in the UK, *fingers crossed*.

And oh yeah, where does everybody have this info from, which says that many magazines are getting their review-copy of the game today? I highly doubt that kinda...

Yeah see.. copy cats much!? Oh well, when GT5 is out we'll see who's better. :)
Must be either a sales booster, or trying to compete with GT's version of the TG Test Track. GT5 will be (as always with Gran Turismo) flawless, sexy, fresh, exciting and better than ever before. Approaching the 4 week mark this weekend.. that's the final month. Hype will build by the week from then on. Never know.. might even see a few screen shots or videos or even hear of some confirmation of Aussie content. 👍

Certain behaviors are just intrinsic (inherent some might say) to Microsoft. Greenawalt is right though. It is a natural fit, as Top Gear is such an American friendly show. :)

Readdressing the DLC subject, my interpretation is:
a) there was no rush, they will launch with all the cars they intended to, with as much as possible, and none being held back to "sell" later
b) even if the developement of GT6 is said that won't be 5 or 6 years as GT5 was, GT5 will still have to hold the fort for 3 or 4 years. In today's world, that means keeping it fresh with bug fixing (if necessary) and car updates.

So I'm pretty sure that we will get DLC. The form however I expect to be new and original. Not a standard "game upgrade" or an "optional car pack". I wouldn't be surprised that we could in the future, as new cars get rendered and included in the game, simply buy them through the game's interface (real money or game credits), without having to leave the game and use the PS Store at all.

Edit: like GT Tv in Prologue, but even better.

For me, the only DLC / patches needed will be if there is some bugs etc. With all this content I'm 100% sure I could survive for 10 years. I survived with 10 cars (basically) and Suzy for 3 years.. you do the math... ;)

And I'm still looking forward very much for Suzuka in the full version with the added features. 👍
