So with pieces of metal in their hand, they did this on Sony/PD's lunch break?

Joking aside, I'm not sure why everyone is freaking. So T10 has decided to get TG on their game, whoopy do. This kind of stuff happens all the time, look at most major businesses. Someone does something ground breaking, then others try to follow and take advantage. What makes this so different?

I am woeful of Microsofts's practices of lewd monetary gymnastics. I don't think anyone really fears the imitation itself, more their tried and true pattern of attempting to secure a monopoly.

Am I the only one who thinks that is a ridiculous statement?

He's right though. The Evora appeared in GT5P the day that it debuted. That doesn't mean that it'll definitely be in GT5, but there's certainly a possibility that they could have it modeled already due to their close relationsihp.

New-Age Lotus in GT5-> It will be likely that these new Lotus' will be in GT5 (such close ties with PD since GT2 and the past introduction of the Evora).

My friend, I think you might be a tad too optimistic there.

Not all forza fans are uneducated.

What I meant was that stupid kids will see that T10 have put Forza in a shiny new package and think "OOH NEW GAME BUY BUY BUY" as they will form an uneducated opinion and not read up on GT5.

No doubt MS will put some TV commercials on to advertise it, and spread it around the internet a little to get people to buy it. PD have so far taken a much quieter approach to advertisement...F3 is more in the public eye than GT5, which imo is a good thing.

Fair play, I can see Microsoft doing that, I have to say though PD should really start advertising soon, like in a couple weeks time, I don't want to see their sales do bad due to bad advertising.

It would appear T10 are worried and want to do everything they can to soften the blow when GT5 arrives

hahah that's the equivalent of trying to soften a nuclear blast..good luck!

they deserve it for their cocky and arrogant statements. I wouldn't mind them so much had they not said what they said back at e3 09 was it..? But to say that the king of racing games has been handed down to them, absolutely no respect for these guys...

RACECAR-> I'm usually not an optimistic guy, but who knows!? And take note, I'm not on VWL here. Call me ridiculous! :)

And you think they'll be reassured by an old article which already was proven or at least regarded to be questionable at the time and proven wrong by Kaz himself?
Sound logic going on there.

Not really. :P Mkay.

Ummmm... Analog is right.

GamesCom Gran Turismo 5 Breakout Session: Full Details

"As we were the first session and had a slight overrun, Kazunori couldn’t take many questions. However, he was able to confirm that the number of unique courses available in the game is “more than 70″ – with the added scope of online Course Maker circuits – and that despite their best efforts to respond to criticism about standard car interiors, they were not able to implement cockpit camera (even one similar to GTPSP’s) in GT5 – a source of some disappointment to Kazunori, who is never happy to let down his fans and is probably his own biggest critic."

I think its just people like to peep over next doors fence to see whats happening...
I personally have visited next door, Well after a £40 a year subscription, gift cars (that I then had to buy to unlock) and constantly having pre teen Americans shouting all manner of inaccurate abuse at me (mainly about my race and sexual orientation)

Next door isnt a nice place to be!

To be fair, you can expect lots of youngin's slinging bad attempts at insults in GT too. Infact, numerically, possibly more, since there will probably be more copies sold...

Unfortunately they've started buying PS3s too. Every bloody time I pop in to something online, there are a bunch of loudmouths with a limited insult vocabulary (has Sony implemented a VOICE MUTE feature yet).

I dunno about all games, but Fat Princess definitely allows me to mute the most annoying of players 👍

Sh, you're speaking with... logic! What if GT5 shipped with a livery editor... would a bunch of people around here be calling it a "copy cat"?

Good on T10 for trying to get some of the TG pie. I don't care for the show much, but I know it's popular, and they're just trying to improve their business, which any company would do. If they try to lock-down an exclusive partnership, I could understand some of the whining.

But forza 3 is an excellent game, it has some really good cars featured that GT5 might not have unfortunately and the gameplay is well structured, yes the physics are not really up to sim standards, and the graphics are inferior but how the hell does that mean that forza 3 fans are uneducated, stupid little kids?

Yep, a browse over the Forza car list is probably the most tempting thing the other game offers, to me anyways. They do have a lot of very cool, interesting cars that are unlikely (though still possible) to show up in GT5. Of course, if DLC does become a common thing in GT5... hooray! :D

What I meant was that stupid kids will see that T10 have put Forza in a shiny new package and think "OOH NEW GAME BUY BUY BUY" as they will form an uneducated opinion and not read up on GT5.

I can't imagine a lot of people who are interested in games are that dumb. The parents or grandparents who buy their games for them might not know better though and be fooled by new packaging. It'd be like buying LBP Game of the Year Edition and expecting it to be an entirely new game!

That last bit is unwise though; people buying the new FM3 pack probably know of GT. A lot of friends know of it, and don't plan on buying it, but sticking with FM3. Why? They can't justify two systems, and overall, their gaming needs are better met with a 360.

Am I the only one who thinks that is a ridiculous statement?

Me too. If PD has such a close tie with Lotus... we'd get a freakin' Exige by now :(.

As a major GT5 fan I'd be more than happy to exchange all of the fluffy Top Gear content for some quality Fifth Gear content. I'm always surprised that so many people on here rate it so highly as it's quite obviously aimed at the lowest common denominator when it comes to cars.

I know that I've certainly had enough of watching three middle aged men with limited car knowledge having a mid-life crisis on daytime TV. With a bit of luck the upcoming Ben Collins TV show will be more of a car show and less of an exploding caravan show?

The main thing that people want out of Top Gear is the track. The content is nice and all but the track is the only thing that really matters as it's obviously the most important thing to a racing game along with cars.

Top Gear is entertaining. 5th Gear bores the hell out of me with their down to earth reviews. I don't care about Daewoo's.

Top Gear is entertaining. Watching most dedicated car shows is more like work then entertainment.

It's a different type of show. Top Gear is steadily becoming less about cars and more about scripted comedy. Sure, it has cars, but the vast majority of viewers are not watching Top Gear for cars, they're watching for James May being a ponce and Jeremy Clarkson shouting "POWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!".

It's worth pointing out though that Fifth Gear's presenters and production crew were all on Old Top Gear, with Tiff Needell being on the show before Clarkson even, and Fifth Gear starting before Top Gear relaunched in the new format with Clarkson and Hammond.

Fifth Gear, while definitely lower budget, is definitely more for car enthusiasts.

Which is why I've always found TG a strange match-up to GT, since it's definitely not about the silliness.

Yeah, it's a nice licence to have for sure if only for the test track and trying to be a "star in a reasonably priced car", but, for me, that's where it begins and ends. What's the "Stig Challenge" going to be? I'm fairly certain beating Test Track lap times in specific cars will be on the menu. It's not like GT is ever going to have caravan races or tractor pulls or blowing things up. It's literally just because it's a big name, people indentify with Top Gear as the pinnacle of/only car TV show.

TG is not associated with GT like that, only THE STIG and the test track, not Clarkson and the rest with their silly antics and scripted monologues.

Oh, I know, but...

I'm sure people will hear the words Top Gear, and like it not, associate it with the hosts and the antics. I can't argue with the logic behind it though :).

+5 👍

Top Gear is sure fun, but as others have said, other than The Stig and the Test Track runs, it's all about wondering what lunacy will be on parade tonight. I much prefer Tiff and his "boring" analysis without all the rockets bolted to cars going off.

Of course with The Stig getting fired, I'm wondering what the big draw is going to be down the road. Will they create a Stag? A Stug??

More like The Stog.

Top Gear made it to GT simply because of the test track and how they continuously try to find the fastest car to go around it, which built a TON of hype. Look how popular the Nurburgring has become in the past couple years..

The Nurburgring has been popular more than just a couple of years regardless of TG TTs way of getting hype/popularity.

To new, unknowledgable people of the racing sport it may have gotten popular, but it's always been one of the most if not the most renowned tracks.

A game which allows you to have this kind of races can't be bad.

The guy is a bit of a nutjob, but they are having tremendous amounts of fun. The makers and publisher of this product are effectively questionable, but the game can be very fun and addictive.

It's a matter of choosing your playing environment, which we can.👍

Anyone noticed that the guy's hardly turning his steering wheel. There's probably like 5 deg of wheel turning in either direction.

All I said was look how popular it has become in the past five or six years. I just saw a Cadillac commercial where they were running the CTS-V around the track...they wouldn't have even thought of doing something like that in the early 2000's.

I actually prefer their non stig and celebrity time trials. I think they have the best producers on creating segments that make me go wow that is awesome. One of the most memorable segments is them finding the best road in the world, or their segment on the toyota pickup truck along with their more recent piece on Senna, which was wicked cool. But point being there is a lot more to the show than the stig and the track

Saw another GT5 tidbit on the TV today.

There was a Time Warner Cable commercial featuring Dale Earnhardt Jr. playing a console racing game online against a kid, then they'd show what they were playing and it was GT5. That isn't a guess either, as they actually added a GT5 logo in the upper left-hand corner of the on-screen TV screen so you knew what it was.

There was nothing new shown, they were just racing NASCAR cars at Indy, Dale in his own car of course, and the kid in Jeff Gordon's. I thought about recording it and putting it on YouTube, but since it was nothing new or exciting, I didn't.

You know whats crazy. Dale Jr. plays (what iracing)? And then he was been on camera talking about GT5 and then out of the blue there is a Jeff Gordon challenge incorporated in GT5 who saw that one coming?

Anyone noticed that the guy's hardly turning his steering wheel. There's probably like 5 deg of wheel turning in either direction.

Yeah that is weird.

I think he is using that piece of ____ Microsoft wheel. I dont see a point in that wheel, I would rather use the pad.
Other then that, I like the way he set up things..

Id personally have to say that Top Gear is much better than fifth gear. granted TG is getting to be more of a mainstream show instead of focusing completly on cars. I'd say from season 1-12 or 13 were the best times for TG. Ive had fun time watching all the episodes (yes have them all on my computer) and will stick with the show just because i really enjoy it regaurdless of what happens in the future. I do have to say that the most recent season seemed to get back on track with the old TG. the maxing of the supersport, Italia 458 review, home built caravans, The F1 documentary (which was epic) Tom Cruise in the RSP, when they buy the brittish sport cars, drives to the top of an active volcano, and much more.

Has anyone watched the recent series, thoughts?

Anyone that watches a lot of TG i think will really find this funny

The most recent is pretty good. I thought that both F1 and British sport car stories ended too sad. I like more uplifting Top Gear episodes. But I want to get back to the amphibious car challenges, the convertible people carriers, things like that. I loved those.
