For ElieTheStig: According to the AUP users must post in a manner that follows the rules of grammatical structure of the English language. Such as capitalization and punctuation, and to exclude the use of abbreviations such as @, u, r and so on.

At dave_sz: There are more respectful ways to direct someone to use correct punctuation and language. Calling them certain ages or names, and berating them is NOT the way to do it. That practice also is a violation of the AUP.

For example I edited this post of yours to show you what it would look like if you posted according to the rules:

You mean exact grammar like using you instead of u? Things like that? I was typing fast and I'm french so I don't know english as you guys. I've been banned twice from the news thread and I don't know why! I brought cool things to jordan and forums and neutral comments and all, but if I am banned here too, it will just convinced me that this site was for, I mean, you know, if we are not able to discuss even as a french trying to share with others from the world. Seriously, I wouldnt care too because I'm here for news waiting for gt5 and it's coming haha so no need this site anymore! But why I am being banned from news thread twice. With not even a notice or an explanation? This is not profesionnal at all!

Anyways the thing is, punctuation and capitalizing letters is a universal thing not just an English thing.
I think grammar wouldn't mind at all, considering the amount of non-English people around here right?
(By the way is the space and then a question/exclamatory mark a French thing?)

One would think that'd he'd learn American grammar from reading the other posts. You don't have to put a space between the sentence and the punctuation. And be sure to capitalize the first letter of every sentence and proper nouns like Polyphony Digital and Kaz.

That actually differs per person. Take my mom for example, she has seen Dutch for 30 years now but she still can't write with proper Dutch grammar!

You'll have to excuse the mini-mods around here. They like to act like they know the owner. ;)

So helping someone understand the rules (In order to help keep them from getting an infraction/ban) is being a mini-mod? Especially when they're getting attacked the way he was from dave_sz? Or was that comment not directed at me?

I don't think he was talking about you Red.

What happened to master car list thread? It's no-longer stickied to the top. Since I can't find it, do we know if the Audi R15 is in the game?

They put effort into writing in english, so why not put some effort trying to understand their comments? If it's too hard then just move on, that's how I see it.

I don't think it is, no. I've never noticed it from friends in France, or even French websites. Proper, true French, of course, not Quebecois... though they don't do it either.

Elie, you might've been "banned" from threads (er, what?) before for spamming a user-made video repeatedly in the same thread.

For people who aren't native English typers, agreed, I try my best. But when someone is purposely using shorthand like "u" in place of "you", when they know better, it's just laziness.

You said French! I assumed you meant proper French!

Then as far as I'm concerned you have even less of an excuse than an actual cheese-eater.

(EDIT) Double-posts are also something you may want to avoid.

what do you mean less of an excuse ? French or quebecois .. I just don't know well my english that is all.

Yeah I'm not so familiar with all these forum editing post features and all sorry.

In French, the following signs require a space before and after, except if they are followed directly by signs that don't require a space before them.

! : ; ?

For the exceptions :

"!" (?) (). (),

That's a bit off subject, sorry. :)

No! In french, there are no spaces before them!

Daaa if only there were some GT5 news! We would not talk pages about grammar!

Again try to use the "Edit" button if you want to add anything. (Not trying to be a jerk really, but you really should try it :dopey:)

As to the above. I'm still confused :scared:

Sorry, Matey, but I've been educated in the printing trade in Marseille. Things fade away, but rules don't change that easily.

Like the "Mr Smith" is acceptable while being wrong, the right formulation looking like : "M. Smith".

Becasuse the use of proper English grammer to a French person is of course so much more important then making derogatory comments.

Mini Mod :P It really means... "why not leave it to an actual mod?" :dopey:

Dangit, now you've turned me into one

If someone is offended by a reference to a common Simpsons joke, I apologize. As a Canadian though, I do find it odd someone from Quebec would fall back on not knowing English. Though that entire issue is best left elsewhere.

Because they have a lot on their plate and there's really nothing wrong with other members telling users something they should know to avoid increasing the load.

I was just making a satirical joke.

It's just that it is practiced by so many members it's become annoying, besides nothing is stoping gtp from anointing more mods if deemed.

I hated the punctuation and grammar rules when I first got here but I've realised they are actually a good thing. Post quality > all.

And whoever quipped "mini mod", I hope it wasn't directed at me. I answered his damn question and linked him to the AUP 👎
