And if I do a ONE hour race....

Will my car then be 24 TIMES faster ?

Wow, so they decide to demonstrate their day to night transition effect in a demo that lasts for 2 minutes and 30 seconds, and we want the transition to be in real time?! WTF? I swear sometimes people can be extremely short sighted. If they did a real time transition in a 2:30 demo, you will see little to NO CHANGE. Hence, why they accelerated it.

If you are right then everything is fine....

ahhh.. except the chase view cam.... (still too rigid)

grid does the time laps thing, there is a le mans 24 hr race which is done in 24 minutes i think, (it maybe 20 ) with day & night cycle. The only trouble is that you don't have time to get accustomed to the lack of vision and changing light because it changes that fast.

That's what I mean...

Hmm.. where is that part in the world where it gets dark within 1 minute ?

Yes it looks great. But its not real-time... NOT-REAL = NOT-NICE

already been discussed. It's believed that the cycle was sped up for the demo and that the final game will be in real time.

Well, the only way to complete the 24 hour races in real life is to drive for 24 hours. I think its comical to speed up a 24 hour race to last 24 minutes (what will be the point in calling it a "24 hour" race). I hope the 24 hour races in GT5 are the same as in GT4.

I think he gets that but was trying to ask is IF you can speed up the race's time cycle to do it in 1 hour instead of 24 then will the day/ night cycle also speed up.
I really hope that in gt5 they have done it so you can save the race during a pit stop and come back to it the following day instead of playing/leaving the ps3 on for 24hrs straight.

I can see a big problem with the toscana track when racing online, its so easy to wall ride to make up time!

I would think that the non-road areas next to the fence would offer less traction.

When playing against weaker AI (as that demo looks), I'm sure you'd catch up by wall riding (GT trait), but I don't think it would help against stronger AI or people online.

So, I know there has been no official word that GT5 supports the Logitech G27 wheel. I am aware that GT5P supported it by pressing triangle (I think) before the race and have seen the video of the French guy with the working shift lights, but still no word on it working fully in the final game.

Well, I was listening to the latest GameSpot UK podcast (Thursday 8th) tonight and the guy that was interning with them said he had been testing GT5 this week. He went on to say that he had been playing it on a set up with a G27 and that it was amazing! That's all he said, there was no details at all on GT5, due to an embargo I guess, but hopefully this goes some way to confirming full support for the G27.

Nope wont happen I played that track if you ride the wall you will be slow as hell trust me 👍

@SCUD77
The problem I have with saving in the pits is that it wouldn't be fair for the people that sat and actually drove for 24 hours. Unless prize credits and vehicles change depending on how the race was completed. For example, you should get the most credits and most valuable car if you completed the race in one setting. That is only if the option to save in the pits is included in the game. I honestly believe it won't be.

How exactly would you want it to work? If it was always real time then you would NEVER see a change unless you raced for more then 3 or 4 hours. Might as well not be dynamic that way...

Something tells me that you get a big warehouse to store your cars and that you can upgrade your warehouse as you go. That or you can purchase newer, bigger, better garages as you go.

If you look at the "main menu" video and then see pictures of like the old Le Mans cars (Jag, Ferrari, Ford) where they have like marble flooring and stuff, it seems like a hint to me that there could be something along those lines.

I think those are just Photo Travel locations re-used for the menus.

I wouldn't like to spend money on garages. If it's like you say, let it be an option to switch between background settings.

I agree, although at the same time, I wouldn't mind seeing "You have earned Jay Leno's Garage," after passing all of your License tests. :)

Maybe GT6.

Thanks, that was an interesting watch despite nothing new. What caught my ear was when he said that "we have the final product here today...". I somehow doubt that. Haven't people been reporting that it's an old demo build?

By the way, he said there is more than 70 track layouts so it's still the old 20/70 location/variation confirmation which is not very specific. Yamauchi also said that there will be 70 unique circuits and other sources have said +100 track layouts so time will tell whatever they mean.

I don't know why they would have the final product there and not do anything with it. I can confirm 100% that it's the build previous to the one when they announced p3/4, gt40, and the Jag, as none of those cars were accessible.

Haha I ran into the interview while I was outside waiting in line, he's like it's hard as hell and they only have 2 demo stations on display..i was like efff! why wouldn't they put more when they know it's going to be the game with the longest lineup. Killzone 3 might have been longer had the demo not lasted 5min per session. It was a freaking long wait, even I bailed out and went back to GT hahah

I've seen loads of footage where crashing into the wall has helped to make up time. Look from :40 in this video you see the player way behind only to catch up again after crashing into the wall because they didnt have to slow down for a tight corner

sure it looks like it could help you, but as soon ONLINE TT are on, it will be a different story.

It just looks bad...... Online TT and online racing will have penalties so it should be fine. Im sure they could have made the invisible walls a bit further away though

I can definitely agree with that. But, I'm not a game designer, so there may be a legit reason.
