I've seen loads of footage where crashing into the wall has helped to make up time. Look from :40 in this video you see the player way behind only to catch up again after crashing into the wall because they didnt have to slow down for a tight corner

I played the demo bro yes he catches up but I bet he does not have it on Professional Once you make a mistake against the AI in Pro mode they leave you end of story. Also in TT mode the driver will be penalize for hitting the wall or going to far off road. In competition it will be damage so they will pay for sorry driving. Also the track gives the driver a pretty good width on the track only when its no boundaries the car hits invisible walls Stay tuned because Im putting up footage up tomorrow.

It just looks bad...... Online TT and online racing will have penalties so it should be fine. Im sure they could have made the invisible walls a bit further away though

Yeah I agree. But so far its not needed. Seems Rally events will be mostly randomized tracks, and I think if each map had no walls, people would be taking huge shortcuts. So as well GT5 is not a full Rally game, so to some degree I do not mind the silly invisible walls.

@SCUD77
The problem I have with saving in the pits is that it wouldn't be fair for the people that sat and actually drove for 24 hours. Unless prize credits and vehicles change depending on how the race was completed. For example, you should get the most credits and most valuable car if you completed the race in one setting. That is only if the option to save in the pits is included in the game. I honestly believe it won't be.

WHy won't it be fair? You're not supposed to sit in front of the TV for 24hrs straight, not even 6hrs. I don't think PD would advocate spending 24hr straight in front of the TV by rewarding you with more $.

Wouldn't be fair? I mean are other people going to know? Would there be any way to tell? Why would you care if someone saved in the pits then finished later? Do you really think that people with families and jobs have 24 hrs to just sit around and play GT5 straight? I know I don't, and that is the reason why I never got to finish a 24 hr endurance race in GT4. I hope that they do include it.

I didn't complete the 24 hour races in GT4 as well for the same reasons you mentioned. All I'm saying is that the "hard core player" (or players) that actually goes the extra mile to complete the race without saving should be rewarded more. Maybe a trophy to show off. Using "more credits" as an example was probably a bad idea.

Those who have no social life or a job should be rewarded?
If you're one of those who has time to do a straight 24hr race you feel you should be rewarded. Those who can't do that don't think it would be fair.
I understand if every single player who bought GT5 had the opportunity to do that then yeah, why not. However I don't see every country in the world making a national holiday for GT5 players so that they can have a care free 24hr period.

I think that you misses missed my comment about weak and strong AI, because we've also witnessed Toscana videos in whuch which the person raced very well, and yet the AI was right on his tail throughout.

Really it's just the old GT story of weak and aggressive AI, however now the AI seems much more interesting.

I hope this looks alright; I couldn't resist logging into GTP with my son's DSi.

Edit: 🤬 my fingers were too big.

It would be sad, because it would mean people are actually that into a videogame. It's still just a game, no matter what's in it.

He means a national holiday as dave mentioned, not personal ones. :)

I know what he meant, but I was under the impression he was just joking. I would love a national GT day, but i know it would never happen so I got where he was coming at saying it would be awesome.

I got a chance to play the demo so here are my impressions.

I asked the Game Stop guy was there going to be a midnight release and he said yea. Then out of nowhere he asked me did I want to play the GT5 Demo. I was hyped I told him hell yea. I was on it for 30 min man it was so damn good. So much Better than GT5P. The sense of speed and cockpit vibration/camera vibration is immersible. The Ring Is scary as hell though so bumpy and fast I drove the Stingray on the Ring. I drove every car. My favorite car was the Autech GT-R so smooth and fast! The Nascar was hard as hell to drive Man took a long time to get it pumping. The Motor sound good but the tranny wine was very loud. Those Nascar are fast as hell though cant wait to test it out with the G27 👍

I was so amazed by how the cars felt on the track Its so different from GT5P. I told another member that, the controller did not have vibration and still controlled the car easily. Not to sound stupid but when you turn it feels so damn real like your really turning. I felt the TT demo was to harsh for DS3 users however this not the case for GT5 demo. This connection is very good so I can imagine how spoiled wheel users will be. 👍

Edit I also noticed when the driver hit the paddles to shift gears he brought hes hand back very fast, not like the other videos I have seen.

I have been playing GT5P heavy for the past weeks so when I played the GT5 demo The sense of speed was so much better. It just felt smoother man, and I think thats why It felt so fast. When your in your car you can feel the car get faster and faster as the engine revs up in RPM. Very different from GT5P. I told other members before, the Ring is serious man I couldn't believe how nervous I was. I was in the Stingray flying saying to my self "Damn I have to slow down." From the cockpit shaking from the bumps on the track it is very hard to stay focus on your line. Racing online on this track is going to be epic trust me. Also the track elevation changes are very noticeable, unlike in GT5P. PD did a excellent Job making the gamer feel as if they are really driving up hill/down hill. Every car I drove felt unique for example The Nascar takes a bit to get started but when it does It is fast as hell how ever Its not very turn happy My favorite car was the Autech GT-R felt so damn fast and smooth. My favorite production car was the 458, this car felt like a monster bro. When that power kicks in Oh baby. I drove in bumper cam and cockpit, and honestly both views were fun as heck because the driving experience is so damn good! We are in store for a big treat!

After experience the physics I have to say I am very glad PD decided to put those 800 standard cars in the game. Yes I wish they where all premium and had cockpit views, but what i'm really happy about is how damn good the game felt. The driving experience we will get with these 1000 cars is going to be tons of fun for years.

So like I said I went back to Game Stop today to play some more GT5 Demo. Told the workers I was going to be playing for a while (2hours ) I will say this again the sense of speed while driving is dramatically Improved. I test drove every car twice(cockpit view bumper view) on every track. 1st track I drove on was the RING. Folks this track is serious the elevation changes are so dramatic you have no choice but to notice the difference. It is so amazing when you are going down hill on that track Its like you can feel it. This has to be from the new camera movement. The shaking of the cockpit is very good, Just be very careful not to hit any grass or its over for you. I cant stress to you guys enough how bumpy the surface is, and with the tree shadows all over the track this can hurt your vision also. I will have to say the scariest car in the demo to drive on the Nurb has to be the ENZO. That car is a serious beast. I had S1 tires with no traction control and pro physics :scared: The car cockpit shakes so damn much its a amazing, but compared to a car which I will talk about next the SLS. I am very surprise on how great this car is all around. It has power agility and great suspension. The engine note was very good IMO the best sounding car in the demo. The handling of the SLS is very sporty however not edgy, the 458 was edgy IMO but still fun. The SLS as a driver gave me more confidence pushing it to the limits vs the 458.

Edit: Rome is a sleeper track guys, Its pretty fun and challenging. What will have you off your line is the high speed braking points and the constant elevation change through out the track. Some of those turn are uneven and will disrupt your car balance if the driver is not careful with their input. This is another track that will have your cockpit shaking alot.

One of the best experience I had with GT5 demo was driving on the rally track and experiencing the day to night transition. Watching the the sky turn from day to night was amazing it really makes the driving experience a lot better. Driving at night though is going to be amazing I hope we can drive at night on all tracks it does not have to be transitional. I really enjoyed driving at night however it was extremely difficult in the beginning but after racing on it 7 times I figured out the track lay out. There was a couple of section that I loved on Tuscany, one part being when your driving up hill and its so steep it feels like its no track in front of you. and the other at night when you past some lights and tints on a good straight path 👍

What was cool also was when you watched the replays and watched driver cam. The way the driver click the paddles on the 458 looks great from that view, PD did a nice job with that. I did notice unlike the rally car he left his hand on the paddle longer, It did not bother me because you have to focus on the track.

Today I raced the Nascar hard. I cant believe how fun It was. The car has serious power and the motor sounds great. During In cockpit mode mode you can hear the transmission however the motor roar still out powers it. When you get the Nascar in its high rpms it screams guys! The handling is kinda tricky. I say this because I only drove it on road tracks no oval. When making left turns the car felt good, it was when I turned right it felt very tight and stiff. I also notice that the Nascar was the noisy car in Interior view. Cars such as the Enzo are loud in 3rd person view, but in cockpit view you can defiantly hear the sound is muffled by the interior. In replay mode the Nascar sounded wonderful. In the End I cant wait to drive these Nascar in GT5, Its going to be real fun.

Night Racing In GT5 is a great experience. Yes its dark, but it is like this in reality IMO. What night racing did for me and probably will do the same for you guys is heighten your driving senses. You really have to pay attention to your surroundings for efficient driving. Because you have to concentrate so hard this will give you guys another appreciation for GT5. I'm so glad night racing is in GT5. It makes that track you race during sun up a completely different track when the moon is in the sky.

Today while playing GT5 demo I did some races against the AI, I think for the first time it felt like they where humans. I was so locked in trying to keep my line so I can climb up the grid, because if you messed up those other cars would pull on you. What really shocked me was how great the grass debris, dirt, ans spark effect was. When I 1st saw sparks on you tube I did not like them. I was like how can Kaz put that in the game. Driving in the cockpit view and bumper cam those effect look amazing. It looks like they are 3D, no Lie the sparks actually jump off everything. It hits the ground barriers and cars, the debris from the grass actually fly at your screen I was like  The dirt and smoke effect are so damn good. My only problem with them is that they disappear a little faster than I would. I understand it takes up more processing power for the PS3 so its all good still looks amazing.

My racing experience with the Autech GTR against AI: So I picked the Ring to race on with all the other Super GT race cars. Right away i could see how serious the AI was however It did not look like the normal AI i'm use to in Prologue They where constantly battling me for position but also respecting my car. Again I was so amazed how the effect of the debris was, when they AI kicked up dirt and grass some of it flew at my cockpit windshield. So besides the bumpy surface tree shadows and shaky cockpit the debris can mess up your vision while driving on the track. My best moment was with the AI was when the Blue GTR was racing me hard for position. i'm not going to front he passed me at a crazy spot on the RING however he caught some grass and spun us both out because i was right behind him. It was really exciting.

This is where he passed me

Edit Another thing I found really cool was during replay in the interior car view driver view. The driver position his hand differently to hit the paddles of the cars containing paddles. PD really impressed me with this detail 👍

Sorry for the crappy pictures guys these where off of my phone which sucks. Tomorrow i will have my real camera 👍
