No gingers. Just a dodgy WB on the camera.

:nervous:
There's at least one in there. Come on!

Why is that weird? Is it really any different from having guys over for a football game? Really?

Was wondering how long it would take you to show up.
I don't know. I never mentioned football but it's funny that all of you jump straight to that as if it's the manliest of manly things. I think dudes on a couch, living out their dreams through the TV is pretty homosexual and pretty weird, yes. Much weirder than playing video games.

Nope. Tig's a light brown - he has a purple rope light above him, so he may be reflecting some ginner. My hair is light brown and about 1/4" long in that shot.

No ginners in my house. No sir.

Not Lecturing you Dave, just don't agree with how some people see playing a video game with friends as 'weird' no matter what your age.

Famine, you really do love Purple hey? I thought it was just a thing for the text on GTP, but its also your garage lighting, your shirt color and your PSN ID background, I'm going to take a wild guess that it might be your favorite color?

dave_sz: Sometimes my friends come over and we do this:

I can see only one problem with a setup like that; ventilation  After an 'infamous SFGTP event', ventilation helps everyone 💡 You guys always have a ball over there. I'm hoping to play with you guys online soon!

I wouldn't have been welcome in your house then when I was a kid.

I don't see the problem in having friends over for some hours of game time. We do it for Madden, Fifa, watch the All-stars game...why not GT?

Having 25year old friends over to play video games for hours is kinda weird, I agree.

I'm even, ahem, slightly older and agree I won't play videogames with friends for hours at my house these days but we do play against each other once in a while.
Why not? Part of the fun is actually knowing you're too old perhaps to still play videogames.
Although the videogame industry has grown up itself too and provides plenty of entertainment purely aimed at grown ups.
Playing a videogame together isn't that much different than watching a movie or watch football together in my view.

Actually, my favourite colour is royal blue. Go figure.

Aye, and not 'cos you were a carrot-top.

I hope all the gear is semi-permanent in that location for the group driving. I feel bad for the guys who'd have to lug CRTs all over

Maybe Dave's social life is different from others? Who cares. If you got friends over that's what's up, if not, that's what's up too! I usually fly solo, and spank the losers online who like to bump. It's a rare occasion to encounter non-bumpers, it's always good to hang with them. At least from the last game I've had, NFS Shift, I've held my own with just about anyone. Bar a few. The only thing I wonder is if you'll be able to qualify for a race online instead of Shift's weird grid positions. With equal drivers it's hard to really pass someone unless you're that much better with your car or they make a mistake. I just hope the online playing allows us to start in a position that you gained instead of making it a gamble.

Yeah, seriously.
Perkel made a sly comment and I came back with a stupid one in return.
Looks like I've done my job. This whole discussion should keep you folks going for a few hours.

When will people realize that in these times, the ESRB or whatever other governing bodies, won't allow game developers to require gamers to sit in front of the TV for 6hrs or 12 hrs or 24hrs.
What? ESRB is an independent organization formed by the game companies to rate games content. They have zero legal power. There is no US government agency over video games yet, although the government is trying.

I'm 31, married, and have a child. We get together to play games, watch sports, attend sports events, write a gaming blog that no one reads, and drink alcohol. Not sure why being 25 means you must stop socializing.

And if games are the issue, that makes even less sense considering the average age of the video game player is 34.

EDIT:
Yeah, seriously.

You added to the incorrect and stupid stigma that my 60-year-old Dad has of video games. I constantly get lectures from him about how much time I spend playing video games, just before he goes on about the 50 different TV shows he watches.

Why not just let each player decide for themselves when to save the game during a 24Hour event, if you only want to save after 3-4 hours then that would be your choice surely?
Why make it mandatory to play a certain amount of time? You know even when I would like to play hours and hours on end, sometimes my doorbell rings and people come by to visit unexpectedly ( weird I know ).
Maybe I'm strange but I'd like the option to save the game then and turn off my buzzing PS3 to concentrate on being a good host or at least keep my electricity bill from going up unnecessary.

👍 Nice idea, but I'm a bit hardcore and want it only to be possible to save if you are in the pits.

What does that mean exactly? Watching football is just a common thing that is done here in America. Funny how you jump to the conclusion that we think it is the manliest of manly things to do, then proceed to think that it is the dream for every American male to play professional football, and that by enjoying a sport we are all just trying to live out that dream through a television. You really should watch what you say.

Let me pose a question to you, what do you and your buddies do when you get together?

Why are they comparing Vettel's real life time to the game one? I'm sure he could beat his real record with the F2007 in GT5P.
The top speed number seems a bit low to me. 249mph is almost exactly 400kmh. We saw a video where the speed was climbing way too quickly at 395-398kmh to just stop at 400.

It does seem a bit low. Could be the gearing, which I'm sure we will be able to change.

Or you'll reply to me and tell me again?
Karting, fabricating, fixing cars, rummaging junk yards, going out to bars/clubs, car meets, sporting events, snowboarding trips.
Between work, school, significant others there isn't much to do.

They're only ickle CRTs.

I have enough stuff for three stations (two with wheels). Everything else is brought. The benches collapse because that's a drive-through garage - we have a second garage out back and threeish additional parking spaces.

Anyway, Ben Collins, eh? What a *******-*******.

It has a CVT transmission, not sure you could actually change that much, as it's basically one gear changing itself continuously, maybe only the 'final gear' can be adapted?

Just because it's insulting to others, then again, maybe you don't care if you are insulting someone else.

Why are any of those things less weird than video games? I am just asking out of curiosity.

Bit more productive generally speaking.

Do you only play video games?

Are they really? Karting, car events, etc.? How are they any more productive?

Of course not, I like to work on my car, play chess, go to sporting events, I like Auto-crosses and track days, and other such things but video games is the cheapest, and easiest thing that me and buddies can do together.
