Same here.

Even trying to overlook all of this, hard though it is, why would anyone want to take on the tedium of driving for hours and hours on behalf of someone they know when there is no gain for them and their own game progress?

Why assume if this indeed could be possible it's only on behalf or benefiting one player only?
What if the game structure designed to cope with it allowed the credits, prize car and game completion percentage to be granted to each player participating?
Each player receiving exactly the same ( each the full price, same prize car and percentage of completion ) just like in a real 24 Hours race there are 3 or 4 winners driving the car which won the event ( each teammate being equal ).

Maybe its just me, but you people who make massive posts...I just scroll past them. Too much reading is bad.

My opinion:
Saving is cool, you should be able to save if you want... I'd hate to be in the 20th hour and loose electricity etc.

You guys also noted that you would have to charge your dualshock mid-race too? (if you use one.) Not a really big issue for most, but if you're far away from the PS3 its annoying.

I plug mine into my laptop and keep on playing. Obviously not ideal for everyone.

Heh, I just thought what an awesome feature the sponsor system from RaceDriver Grid would be in GT5.

More-so GT6 at this point I guess haha.

Too much reading is bad cuz interesting info only comes in oneliners.:indiff:

I try to be as economic with language as possible but if something is well written I enjoy reading them even when they're long.
Sometimes things need to be explained further than a few sentences allow.
If a post is too long and tiresome or boring to read it's mostly due to it being badly written or the subject not being of interest to me.
I would never claim a post is visually too long and therefore I scroll by them.

Release November 2nd?
That could get interesting if it really covers all tracks in GT5 and comes out before the game itself, but I rather think that they'll delay that book too

Amazon hasn't updated any of there pre-order dates yet, they just made me aware of the Prima Guide today strangely. I assuming that they won't update the date until PD puts out new one.

Option\choice, the game offers both modes for Career, although it is better to assume that it will tie Special events, Missions and Licenses to A-Spec, just like GT4.

That's not a good point. The limiting factor is the difficult of the race itself, not the duration. The casual paid for the game, the casual can experience everything, doesn't mean the casual has a chance to win everything.

I consider myself a casual and I don't whiny about not being able to complete the GT4 Mission 34 and I don't have this sense of entitlement that PD should make me able to win that race, just because I paid for the game. The race is hard, simple as that. The GT4 Nurb 24h race for example, the only reason I won was because of the B-Spec faster time progression and a really unfair type of car.

And IIRC, the Nurb 24h didn't feature the fastest cars, La Sarthe 24h I and II on the other hand had one of the hardest line-ups in the game. Meaning, if a casual even bothered to enter the race, first he should worry about keeping up with the fast AI cars, which for a casual, is a pretty hard task on trick tracks like La Sarthe and Nurb. Pointing the save feature as something that would help the casual in this situation is useless.

"The limiting factor is the difficulty of the race itself, not the duration." Huh? It is difficult because of the duration. You aren't making sense nor can you separate the two. Strategy is also involved, which adds difficulty and the ability of the AI is a contributing factor as well. There are various limiting factors. Again, your argument makes no sense and is fairly biased.

"The casual paid for the game, the casual can experience everything, doesn't mean the casual has a chance to win everything." I don't think I'm implying they win, but 24 hours is a barrier to completion on any level. Simply put, one is not getting to complete what they paid for (whether coming in last or first and anywhere in-between).

I think he's referring that it will be discussed in "car magazine".
good try though

Him being excited about a car by Newey and not knowing anything about it is what I was replying to. Better luck next time.

So you can't have friends after 16 ... or they can't some to your house, garage etc. ?

I must be weird :)

Having 25year old friends over to play video games for hours is kinda weird, I agree. Not sure why they would be playing games in my garage though, or did you mention that cause working on cars in a garage is the same to you as playing video games in your basement?

You see, I hate this attitude.

Its not sad or weird for a load of guys to sit and watch a game of football where men run around a field wearing shorts & t-shirt, and have absolutely no interaction in the game, yet for a load of guys to do exactly the same thing, only with a video game is weird?

At least with the video game you can compete with each other and actually control what is happening.

Whatever, I'm only 18 and I don't have friends over to play video games, I just think the whole thing is wrong, people look down upon video games as if they are sad and childish.

Another example is the context of the video game...for example:
People on facebook having 'fifa nights' at each others houses. This is perfectly accepted amongst my peers and nobody bats an eyelid.
If I announced a 'Gran Turismo night' I bet there would be hails of people calling it sad and childish.

Eh, I guess majority rules in this world, but at the end of the day you just have to ignore what people think and do what you enjoy.

It has already been done in one go. I'm still looking for the source, but someone did do it. I actually found the source through a link from this site about tuning. The individual that undertook the endeavor did stop to go to the bathroom, but in the end had pretty big abdominal issues and had to go to the doctor.

Darwin Award in the making.

100% positive I, among many others on this forum, can. And with dynamic weather (fingers crossed) and day night cycles, ill actually enjoy it, all 24hrs of it.

I'm one of the very few people that has an all A-spec GT4 game, including all of the 24hr races. I'm aware of a lot of people saying I'm a complete nutter for doing so. I'm not aware of the "many others" who'd not only A-spec an entire 24hr race, but do it in one sitting.

I'm not seeing the problem.

Good for you. I'm 26 and siting here looking at a forum about a video game. Why are you lecturing me about how other people feel or see things? Do you think I care?

I'm not seeing the problem.

I see a problem. I see a lot of gingers in there.:nervous:

24 here and I constantly have people over to play games, hell, I have people over playing LBP and crap as well.

My 24 year old friends and I are going to a 24 hour race as our first leap into GT5.

I can't see me ever not having friends over for some multiplayer, even if it's a NES being loaded up with Battletoads.

Why is that weird? Is it really any different from having guys over for a football game? Really?
